  1. Happy birthday to everybody, oh and to Jimmy.
  2. I think it's an appropriate topic and a good idea, to discuss music with Zeppelin fans, that's what's it about!
  3. Well I appreciate your opinion and these are all great bands, but I think The Who are far more one dimensional! Live at Leeds is great, but even in the early days, Zep had more variety in sound! The biggest problem with your opinions is though, that they are not supported with arguments. Don't want to argue though! You can't just say, they played more creatively and dynamically, without saying why you think that! I mean yeah, that is how you feel, but really!? What about the acoustics sets of Zeppelin and the way they opened up their jams in so many directions, genres, so many new ways to express vocally and lyricaly and new ideas each concert!? Anything about that!?
  4. They were both very positive bands, each had a different approach to music and some of the Zep approaches, required a lot more virtuosity and versatility, but that doesn't necessarily make them a better band. They are to me, they give me a lot more, I love their music, it gives a wonderful time to humanity.
  5. I think I just corrected all the grammar mistakes, anyone wants to discuss The Who and Zeppelin now!?
  6. Life is about creativity and cooperation really, not much about who is better. So maybe Mr. Keith Bonham and Mr. John Moon can answer. It's not like I remember, I heard it on a bootleg. Things that matter, stay in your heart and it's such a big universe, it would be quite weird, if you would forget, what day it is for example, but the universe is more of a philosophical thing really, the rest is for science to explore further. So by the way, anyone had any sex in the last ten years? It's such a warm and close thing, when you are really deeply connected with someone, it's nice when it will happen, but it has to be really right, although ten years is a lot, but it was really just the first time. Am I talking too much? Who am I? Anyone want's to talk now please!? We don't want to stay too far apart, quite seriously and I wasn't on the forum for quite a while, so let's continue at a rather slow and quiet pace.
  7. I think that they pretty much listened to each other for inspiration equally and it's an album, that is not that much worse, from a more typical Zeppelin album, if you like it. It's an artistic decision to do it that way and it should be respected, if you like the album or not! I like it quite a lot! It's an album of great beauty, poetry, artistic self restriction and emotion.
  8. I sometimes wish, their songs would lyricaly be more about everyday stories, personal experiences and more critical of the society, something Robert went in a bit more latter. Roberts voice did change and if he would keep changing his singing, it would be absolutely better not to loose it, but he never lost it completely and he kept finding new ways and his voice is still excellent really. As far as fitting into society, I think they would better with the lyrics I mentioned above, but classical music is sort of epic too and they still had love songs and they were virtuosos and it was a time of sexual revolution and sex is part of life and I don't think that theme is so predominant and he's a got a real good voice for that. Plus all those awards make them accepted these days and I'm happy for that. I also love they tried all those musical genres, I think they did it really well mostly and they recorded a lot of it live even latter on. As far as stage moves, only Robert's moves are a bit strange to me, but I think it was like more of a just a 73 thing and it's more easy to see it negatively, because the singing got worse, but it always still remained really good.
  9. I use to think Zeppelin were not like that. But they do have a few melodies like that, just a bit in their own way.
  10. The lyrics are really good too!
  11. Very melodic, Boston sort of style. ! Couldn't find the lyrics, I have a hard time understanding them, especially the first time! Tesla was a great man, had some very good thoughts for humanity, I don't think that has to go along with so much struggle! Better times are always just around the corner! Yeah!
  12. Other live releases would be better, but the guitar on disc two, should definitely sound thicker, so it should be a bit enhanced, it can never really be to the point, where someone would say, Jimmy doesn't sound that good without that, so it should be done. The bonus stuff is really good, finally that version of Dazed and confused is released, the low notes phrasing in the solo, is stunningly precise. Great!!
  13. I'm so happy for them. After all they already had to go through with being rejected by people and being strange and loony, while being so very obviously humble and just such in depth people, I'm so glad this ended the right way. Music has touched their hearts with all it's variations through the centuries and it's like suing someone for percepting the universe, or someone being similar to someones looks, while accidentally playing guitar.
  14. I think he just didn't smash the drums so hard here, which is kind of strange and unusual!
  15. The music world is not the same, but even in the old days, they might wanted to be musicians and felt they were talented and didn't have anything against success, perhaps even big one, but they just wanted to be musicians, they almost had no choice!
  16. It's sad he passed away, I think to a degree, he definitely functioned as a disabled person and smashing the drums so hard and not being understood by the critics sometimes and by some people around him and missing his family on the road, it all contributed to loosing him. Sad! I'm glad he didn't strugle with success, although that was hard for him too, I think today in present musical world, if you do good music, you are especially happy with mostly smaller gigs and some bigger as time goes by.
  17. I think he smashed the drums really hard, plus he had a natural ability, to make little variations within those fills, and ofcourse a tremendous imagination and motoric ability and he had a lot of structure from Page, around which he could built his drumming. And he always returned to basics within the song, which he could do really well, but those basics almost always included subtle additions, not just bass snare bass snare. I think it was just him, his sound, which a lot of people really like, warm and subtle. Oh yeah and Page knew how to record him and the tuning of the drums, as others have said.
  18. Yeah, there is no slow down in Heartbreaker and How many more times, And he was damn good in 1988 and in early nineties with Coverdale too, some say that was his most original guitar work since Zeppelin! I think that guy heavybluesfan, is like trying to make Page almost irrelevant, because his best techical days, are so far back, which obviously isn't true and he could become as slow as Clapton and still be very relevant, simply based on the material!
  19. Page is first of all an amazing composer and producer and a guitarist with an amazing performance ability and improvisation, with a a very unique sound, even many sounds, which even in the earliest days, included some techical imperfections, if defined by the best techical guitarists and their best live perfomances. I also think, that the course of Page's life, has been quite defined by his extremely creative soul! Latter he obviously declined, but in 2007 and in particulary in 1998, he very often had atlest 80 percent of his early Zep techical ablity and quite a few times even more! And his SIBLY solo is very emotional and there are no mistakes, just his signature sound and he wanted to play a slow solo ala Clapton, as proven by the fast solos, he could still play! I also think his lyrical, Walking into Clarskdale type of guitar playing , still didn't get enough recognition and sadly that was his last album release, back in the days, when Zep was still far from being as universally critically acknowleged, as it is now!
  20. Quite a bit of scary stuff in the last few posts of some! 1. Robert did not know about his son at this point and it could only be related to his injuries in the car accident and how he migth have been undercared by nurses! 2. Sex is connected to death!? Sex can be connected to just about anything, so who is writing this kind of strange sensations!? 3. in these countries, the situations don't have much to do with islam, they are just underdeveloped in certain ways and europe has alot of bad things happening to!
  21. I know quite a few of his songs and he is great and I'm quite accustomed these days, to listening to stuff more for the lyrics, then the voice or complex structures! It's really good!
