  1. I wonder what the whole slate quarry set was....i would like to hear the rest of those songs, on the video they looked to be having so much fun. To me, the "unledded" vibe was best represented there.
  2. Thats good for you, but i think, achilles last stand and in the evening would have been better than dazed and sibly
  3. It was a very cool journey for me to appreciate, the firm. There are times where they seem very simple and humble sounding....and then there are times where they were this simple humble kickass rock band. So much music to appreciate with the firm, with some of their songs seemingly flat in regards to what was going on in the mid 80s and as time goes on, thats why i appreciate those 2 records more. I guess there would never be a remaster series with companion discs. But for many years the firm vinyl sounded much better than the cds from decades ago. If they, the firm or jimmy ever gets to it, those compact discs deserve a remaster...because the fretless bass and drums were hindered alot on the cds for the overall sound. As for jimmy page and paul rodgers, such a cool accomplishment for creating a band where we did not think about led zep or bad co.
  4. I liked hearing that 2007 version of dazed and confused alot. Just from reflecting on this show being all electric, we know all zep electric songs are all heavy...so for a show for ahmet ertegun, why not another epic which is heavy and yet bright, just as in the evening would have been and a triumpth kind of feeling to see page, plant and john paul jones. But ultimately i think achilles last stand would have had that bright light effect, like it did in 77 and 80...so thats why it could have been sooo cool. Also could have been switched out for sibly for my 2cents.
  5. I think if they switched out dazed and confused with achilles last stand...it would have rounded that show much better.
  6. I miss the old days, when we just hated disco music.
  7. That guitar is so cool, that it makes me wish i learned to play guitar.
  8. I was at 2 of the 3 shows at roseland, same setlist i think, a well rehearsed setlist for a fans dream....as far as led zeppelin setlists went. Never thought those would be the last Page shows. Crazy
  9. I think this show was a success on a few levels. But the way they promoted the album and dvd, which thank God they released, so cool....but for them to be going through any lead singer drama stuff, the rock band thing...was not necessary to explain not playing further.
  10. Well since i just defended dee snider in the twisted sister thread. In the 80s i bought alot of records, john cougar, joan jett, the cars, bruce springsteen and the rolling stones.... All i know is, the cars singer married a super model and then the cars disappeared.
  11. This is a well said, very important point. The companion discs were a huge untold bargain for starving zep fans. Also add the significant sound improvement of the albums and its a win win beyond belief. I bought the new records, cds specifically for the companion discs...and i am totally happy with them.
  12. The presence obect was for sale in rick barrett mags since the late 80s...now they are too expensive. Good for those that bought one, a nice little mini investment.
  13. If jimmy is working on page coverdale now...maybe this record is next, before the firm records. With this record it is a total given...100% that a companion disc would be a complete remaster and bright. hopefully everybody that doesn't like this record, might like it then....haha. Also i think that whiskey from the glass and the window should be added. In regards to walking into clarksdale, as the years have gone by , i hear a joni mitchell riff in shining in the light, a yardbirds spark in, walking into clarksdale and while air guitaring to sons of freedom, hear vibes of lower register willie nelson combined with dick dale. Also, with whiskey from the glass, the drums sound so much like bonzos moby 75 sound effect....so maybe maybe they left it off the record cause of that...
  14. I think we would have heard from them all, but on much lower levels than a hit rock band. maybe more record credits for jpj and some great playing by bonham, but maybe not being recognized for ten years or something. I think page would have formed a band that would have ultimately failed by 1973 same with plant maybe 1970 for him....and with any luck they all might have had lingering sad music careers after that...bar bands, full time jobs etc.
  15. Where the mighty arms of atlas...hold the band from the the earth...1977
  16. I would think one might start a journal and fantasize about ones collection.....,or start selling on ebay when one gets burned out and old
  17. I was at 2 of the 3 roseland shows and it was an open recording situation at the soundboard...without a doubt.
  18. Why is this band making 7 or 8min songs...
  19. Whenever i see over the hills...on a mid 70s setlist, it makes me critique the setlists and wonder why there was not more variety. I think page and plant 90s totally recognized that with playing, thank you, ramble on, what is and what should never be, ramble on, babe im gonna leave you and opening shows with the wanton song. In fact, i would say that ramble on, is a key song to the whole flow of the ahmet show in 07.
  20. Sadly i continully sold/traded in my live led zeppelin vinyl for compact discs at the time...yet kept a few good ones. Thanks to rick barrett and jimmy page with the companion discs...led zeppelin continues.
  21. Great band....they have a zeppelin influence, yet have their own band vibe also, very cool. Makes me think how rush had to go a few steps away from the led zeppelin sound to find their own sound. Yet this band can stay closer to zeppelin and write their own good songs. Very nice to finally hear a led zeppelin influence, that actually sounds good.
  22. Agreed i actually discovered the ramones after my fascination with the grateful dead, phish, widespread panic....suddenly i was old and could hear it all, if that makes any sense...i had to reboot my appreciation for music and the ramones were the band that sounded good to me.
  23. "There is a boy at school who tries to play the guitar with a violin bow. His name is james page. It sounds like a cat screeching and then he hits the guitar strings twice and then points the bow at all of the kids."
