  1. Its simply stunning given the historic context. I have imagined the early meeting between the Zep and Atlantic camps in my mind's eye countless times. But never dared to imagine that such a moment would have actually been captured and preserved. What's just as interesting is that such a significant photo would be unknown and unseen ( to my knowledge) until a few days ago. Had this been available two years ago,I'm certain it would have and should have been included in Jimmy's photo book.
  2. It would be nice to have an informal Zep Summit Roundtable where all the experts and sources could research, exchange info and debate the merits of rumored shows. Sort of a convention but like a social symposium as well. Of course,we all know how the last planned convention went over. But it would be brilliant to gather all the folks with information and all sit around a table to see what could be determined in terms of Zep footage. Sort of like a Cold Case investigation.

  4. Wow. Thanks Riot! You've made my day. Is just it me or is this a monumental and historic photo? I mean,JP and PG at the actual signing of the band to Atlantic? This should have been in JP's book for sure. It amazes me what pops up after 40 years...never having seen the light of day prior to this.
  5. Steve, Would you have any info on this photo? Thanks
  6. You're welcome Tanya. I thought you'd like that one....;-)
  7. So the question still stands. What was the purpose of the double mics? IF they were to multi track, that would mean there's at least one multi-tracked concert if you see the photo above. Then that raises the question of which show the photos are from. And why are the known 2 microphone photos from 1970? Just now read Jahfin's post regarding the Grateful Dead. So did they use the second mic for noise canceling at every concert? ( I find it interesting that the photo of Gerry was from a filmed performance). DId microphone technology improve so much after 1970 that a second mic wasn't needed? If that were true, then every photo of Zep prior to 1970 would show Robert holding two mics...assuming the band needed the noise canceling at every concert. Puzzling, innit?
  8. Let me clarify then: I meant video as opposed to audio.....film/video media....not an audio signal. So if your info about the second mic is correct ( and that makes perfect sense to me) then one can infer that ,at the very least, there are other shows that have been multi-tracked on audio if not on film.
  9. The 1970 documentary planned by the band has always intrigued me: How many,if any,of those shows could have been filmed? Additionally,I've seen photos of Robert holding 2 microphones during 1970 concerts ( like RAH). The presence of the second mic has always made me wonder what its for if not to capture the audio feed for video. Why were there 2 mic's used on some shows and not others?
  10. Yes,its off a bootleg but I can't recall the title at the moment.
  11. I guess the transfer from cine footage to DVD give it a more of a filmy quality to it. And the framing of the subject seems quite good in that a bootlegger with a hand held may not have access to such a close up angle. Those points mislead me to think there's a chance this show may have been filmed.
  12. Thank you. I know I would buy it! And any proceeds could go to Ahmet's charity or ABC. Coincidently,I know of a member here who happens to run a publishing house. I spoke with her a while ago when discussing an idea for a coffee table book of all the venues, studios, hotels and other landmarks Zep made famous. So there certainly is ground work in place to publish a book. My guess is that it would be a great seller too. The trend today seems to be ePublishing. Perhaps that may be a way to go....with a downloadable PDF method to purchasing any new Zep book.
  13. stryder, No worries. Its an easy assumption to make. Actually, the Buckeye reference is by Bruce Deerhake, the ownder of Buckeye's long-standing Zep page. ( He's a long time Zep friend on FBO). The O2 went by in a blur, didn't it? Now there would be a good topic for a book: a collection of stories from fans who were fortunate enough to attend the show....for the enjoyment of other fans who may or may not have attended.
  14. Most likely not. However,I like to keep an open mind just in case.
  15. Rhetorical question: Would it be within the realm of possibility that the band filmed rehearsals or soundchecks for something like RAH? It certainly would make sense in order to get camera angles, sound and any other kinks worked out for the film crew.
  16. Stryder, Thank you for the kind words. The experience at the O2 certainly was the epitome of every Zep fan's dream. I was extremely fortunate and was the recipient of the generosity of a well-connected Zep friend on FBO. The whole time there was like a dream...it went too fast...in a blur. I'm really glad you enjoyed reading the account of the O2 show! I can imagine that writing a book may raise some uncomfortable issues. So I understand why you wouldn't want to write about your ventures. Perhaps some of your colleagues could write a book to benefit the cause they're working for. Just a thought. My alma mater is Temple University in Philadelphia. I'm not too familiar with college sports but I hope the rivalry you speak of is rejuvenated for the fans!
  17. I believe its Zep's attorney,Steve Weiss. It appears to be the signing of Zep to Atlantic Records in 1968. A monumental early photo whatever occasion.
  18. Thank Goodness the genocide in Rwanda spared the mountain gorillas....for once. I would love to go to anywhere in Africa to see the animals in their natural habitat ...at any price. You must have quite a few stories to tell,Stryder. From the few anecdotes you've mentioned above,I can assume there's enough material to write a book about your travels to help these endangered species. Start writing, sir! To follow your earlier comment,I too was fortunate enough to see Zep live in London at the O2. We had rehearsal, backstage and after-party passes too, believe it or not. It all was like a crazy dream. But I digress......that story is posted on another thread on this forum.
  19. Stryder, Its just incredible to believe that places like Zimbabwe,Somalia and other failed states still exist in the 21st century. The inhumanity is the same or worse than it was in pre-historic times. Most likely even worse now that advanced weapons are so accessible. Also, I've never been a person to be envious of anyone. However,I do envy the satisfaction you must enjoy while doing this wonderful work for the animals. Its encouraging to know that folks such as yourself and your colleagues do what you do.
  20. I hope those sub human DRC soldiers burn in Hell uoside down.
