  1. Glad to help even though I had absolutely nothing to do with it. (Again, trying to be funny). As I mentioned earlier, the Cardinals need all the help they can get at this point. Most notably from themselves. Another 2 game winning streak now puts the Cards at 15-25 just 7 games out of 1st. For this year and this year only, anytime the Orioles play any team in the NL Central I will be rooting for your Orioles.
  2. Obviously, being a Saint Louis Cardinals I really hope this happens. However, at the moment, I am somewhat skeptical this will happen. It seems that the Cardinals came into the season with a strong lineup, but their starting pitching has been very unreliable and extremely inconsistent. That also includes their bullpen. Alot of blown leads and saves. I will give it to the All-Star break and reevaluate. If the Cardinals pitching is still the way they have been, I will not have much hope for the remainder of the season. However, I will always remain an adamant and staunch supporter of the Saint Louis Cardinals, win or lose. 15 consecutive years with a winning record/season for the Cardinals is still an impressive accomplishment. The Cardinals rank 3rd with a winning record since the year 2000 (behind the Yankees and the Dodgers). In my mind the season is still early enough that anything is possible for any team except the Oakland A's. There have been a few early surprises, the Texas Rangers and Ricks and ebk's Baltimore Orioles being two of them. GO CARDINALS!!!
  3. Edited to reply to Paul's above post.
  4. Finally, the Saint Louis Cardinals are on a winning streak. 2 games. Only 9 games out of first place. (This post is meant to be funny, however, the Cardinals did win 2 games in a row).
  5. I don't believe that I would have ever said this before, but yes, the Cardinals are looking very dismal so far this 2023 season. I say so far because there are still 130 games left until the end of the regular season. No matter how good or bad the Cardinals are in any given year, I am ever the optimist and will never count them out until it is time to count them out. Obviously, it is not looking good so far (by any means). However, I am a realist and the chances of the Cardinals making it to the Post-season for a fifth consecutive time this year are pretty slim. That said, the Cardinals have had a winning season for the past 15 years. I am never one to put the blame on anyone for the Cardinals very poor start but a lot of Cardinals fans are asking for the heads of the manager (Oli Marmol) and the President of Cardinals baseball (John Mozeliak). I can't say that I disagree. Mozeliak didn't do enough to secure a solid rotation (they say, I agree). On a positive note, Adam Wainwright is making his first 2023 start against the Tigers tomorrow. He might be the leadership the dugout desperately needs. I will say that I am very impressed with winning record of your Baltimore Orioles. Good luck with that. That goes for ebk to, although she seems to really dislike me even though she doesn't know me. (I am cool with that). (One more thing): there are still two other teams that I follow, the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros. As always: Go Cardinals.
  6. These are three (of five) of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs. I think that Robert would agree. 1. In the Light 2. Since I've Been Loving You 3. No Quarter. These three also happen to have a writing credit for John Paul Jones. I remember reading that Jimmy has said that he had forgotten how amazing John Paul Jones' introduction to "In the Light" was (I agree).
  7. I just read that Rob Manfred is looking into speeding up the time it takes batboys and batgirls to retrieve balls and bats during the 2023 MLB season (and beyond). Apparently, if it takes them too long to retrieve balls and bats he is thinking about asking teams to replace them with kids that can do a faster job. Basically, he wants teams to "fire" the kids if he feels they are slowing down the game. I'm not sure if this is true or not, it's just something I read.
  8. Tom Sizemore. 61. I always liked him as an actor. "Heat" is one of my favorite movies along with "Saving Private Ryan".
  9. Hello, everyone. Just as baseball is back, so am I. You are correct. The pitcher is charged with a ball. Same with the batters if they are not ready within the same time frame. They are charged with a strike. In one of the first spring training games, Red Sox/Braves, the game ended on a charged 3rd strike. Bases loaded, bottom of the 9th and the batter was called out for this reason. Game over. Tie game. I caught the last couple of innings of the Cardinals/Mets game yesterday and the game was 2 hours and 59 minutes. The announcers said that the game was just under 3 hours but both teams managed a combined total of 25 hits and 19 runs total. The Cardinals won. 12-7. I realize these spring training games do not count and all players and teams get a chance to get used to this new rule, however, I predict some chaos, confusion and downright hostility when the regular season begins. Especially down the line when it comes to the Post-season. Rick, your man Machado made MLB history the other day by becoming the first player to be charged with a strike. He said something to the effect that he might be charged with a lot of strikes when the season begins. (As will probably hundreds of other players). Good Luck to everyone and their teams this season. GO SAINT LOUIS CARDINALS!!!
  10. Lisa Marie Presley. Apparently from cardiac arrest at 54 years of age.
  11. 12. Jason Bonham. Sunday night (12/04/2022) at the Factory in Deep Ellum, Dallas Texas. It will be my 3rd time seeing him in Dallas over the years he has been touring as the JBLZE.
  13. Edited to add: Since my favorite team did not make it to the World Series this year, at least my second favorite team made it and won it. No alleged cheating involved this year. Just pure solid baseball: great pitching, hitting and defense. It also helps when that team throws a no-hitter and their opposition strikes out a World Series record 71 times in just 6 games. I am proud of my hometown, Houston, Texas. Again, Congratulations.
  14. Congratulations to the Houston Astros. 2022 World Series Champions!!!
  15. The Phillies may have hit 5 homeruns in game 3 but I would be very embarrassed to be the Phillies and their fans to have been the victim of a No-hitter in the World Series the very next day. The very next day. Which event will go down in MLB history and be remembered more? 5 Homeruns in a game or a No-hitter? Somebody asked Schwarber how it felt to be only the second team no-hit in World Series history. "I really don't give a fuck. We'll move on to tomorrow. It's cool. We'll be in the history books, I guess." Everybody knows that he does give a fuck. He is just too embarrassed to admit it. Honestly, I would be to. Go Astros!!!
  16. If the Philadelphia Phillies were playing the New York Yankees in the World Series I would be rooting for the Phillies even though they upset the Saint Louis Cardinals. I never liked the Yankees, even though I respect them as a historic baseball organization. However, since the Houston Astros are now in their fourth World Series in the past six years, I am rooting for the Astros. (I was born on Galveston Island, Texas, an hour south of Houston, in 1970). Houston Astros defeat the Philadelphia Phillies, 4 games to 2.
  17. Houston Astros!!! Unstoppable. It seems that cheating 5 or 6 years ago really pays off. Rick, l want to see you type it again. Let me read it. The Houston Astros are cheaters. Come on. I know it will not be your last. Remember, I told you the Astros were my 2nd favorite team. If I can't root for the Saint Louis Cardinals, I am going to root for the team that cheats their way into a 4th World Series appearance in the last 6 years.
  18. The Houston Astros are on the way to their fourth World Series appearance in the past six years. Not many teams can claim that honor (win or lose). Not even the Saint Louis Cardinals and in no way whatsoever, the Baltimore Orioles, whose last World Series was in 1983, almost 40 years ago (which they just happened to win). 40 years ago Rick. You have been saying next year for 40 years now. I was just 12 years old in 1983 although I did go to game 1 of the 1982 World Series between the Saint Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers easily defeated the Cardinals 10-0. The Cardinals won that 1982 World Series, however, 4 games to 3. Anyways, Go Astros.
  19. Houston and Philadelphia. Now it's time for San Diego and Cleveland to win. My prediction: Phillies vs. Padres. Phillies win. Astros vs. Indians. Astros win. 2022 World Series. Houston Astros versus Philadelphia Phillies. Houston Astros 2022 World Series Champions.
  20. Go Indians, Phillies and Padres (even though I am not a fan of them because of that over-hyped and cocky Soto dude and I definetly do not like the Dodgers for the same reason). I still want those cheating Astros to win it all. If they are that good at cheating as some claim, they should have no problem at all.
  21. According to your dislike and constant complaining of the Houston Astros, they cheated. How else do you explain that game ending and game winning home run? You should have already known that. If the Astros defeat Seattle, they cheated (somehow). If the Houston Astros win the World Series, they cheated (again, somehow). That will be your mantra: "The Houston Astros are cheaters". We (or at least I) expect that to be your response. Regardless, Go Astros (cheaters or NOT).
  22. Houston Astros!!! (and the Phillies - forget the Braves and the Dodgers). Edit to add: I forgot to forget the Yankees. All 3 over-hyped and over-played (and over-paid).
  23. Phillies. Padres. Astros. Indians...
  24. I'm cool with that. However, most of what I post about the Cardinals may be my opinion but a lot of what I espouse is the truth and mostly based on fact. Probably the last thing I will say about the Saint Louis Cardinals (this year) is that at least they can be relied upon having a winning season year after year and a playoff spot at the end of the regular season(s). Unlike yours and ebk's beloved Baltimore Orioles who have not made the post-season since 2016 (losing the Wild Card). In fact, the Orioles had 14 consecutive losing seasons between 1998 and 2011. That can never be said of the Cardinals. Now, that is a fact. Peace.
