  1. Yes, maybe so... any drummer who knows the music would hear it immediately. He's early with the fill, hence it's a mistake on his part, and it nearly threw Jimmy off, but they don't lose their step. My original comment was related to it probably not passing muster with Jimmy for an official release because of that moment.
  2. Its there...use your ears, you'll hear it. Also...its been discussed earlier in the thread. 😉
  3. Thanks for the reply! Hope you've been well.👊🏼
  4. There are a lot of mega fans and to anyone who listens to Zep often, it's obvious.
  5. Mine just arrived, very pleased with the overall quality but the binding is a little rippled on the front. Amazon didn't use any bubble wrap so it probably jostled around a lot in transit. Unfortunately , the one previously unseen thing I had most hoped to see, which is clear photos of Bonzo's drums form 68, is nothing revelatory. Loads of great pics though , very nicely printed on heavy stock paper. Definitely worth the $, IMO.
  6. Didn't know about this source. Bootledz shows no releases based on it. Sean?? Weedwacker? Winston? Sue Dounim? Dadgad? They would probably know.
  7. Yeah, in some ways I think that's the best night although 929 is epic for so many reasons. The Bonham incident, all the hilarious banter that is audible, the extended Immigrant Song, ...but the playing on 9/23 is really spot on. I remember Hiroshima is a great show too. Fuck , they were all great, that was a peak era performance wise. Holding out hope that an official How The East Was Won set will be released.
  8. Yeah, I know...it's not a train wreck though, he doesn't lose the beat but it almost throws off Page. He's early with the fill. It stands out though...to me at least.
  9. If this version of Stairway were to be used for an official release, there would have to be an edit made at the end. Bonzo makes an uncharacteristic mistake and it nearly throws off the band....I doubt Page would be OK with that.
  10. Not a bad idea, especially if it's a "soundboard revolution " tape, or one that they have exclusive dibbys on. The problem is....they didn't do a great job on this release. Your suggestion is much more sensible than trickling out a song at a time, then an incomplete release and charging way too much for them. A good job would be to either put the whole tape they have into one release, or splice other sources to complete the show. They've done a good job in the past...not with this release. I'm grateful for the release but don't agree with how they did it. There are many who feel the same, and some who are adamantly in opposition to this sentiment.
  11. Thank you. I was actually referring to a merge, not an actual matrix, but that would really be awesome. The old multi track is quite slower , by maybe near 2% , but someone who is adept at it can blend the two (Winston, Sue Dounim), and I'm sure the results would be great.
  12. A 3 source mix is on dime, possibly other trading sites. It isn't complete though as Dazed has a cut in the coda section and Moby Dick is all chopped up. I fixed it for my personal enjoyment. Not that much work really. Took me 2 hours and I'm no recording engineer or even very skilled at sound editing. Not that hard to do, but it's a little time consuming. In other words, Empress Valley could have easily merged sources and for $300 put out the most complete representation possible. I hope that their $300 5 CD ripoff sells like hot cake. 😆
  13. Never said I expect something for nothing. Read my posts. You know that is not the case with me. You're smarter than that.
  14. Wow, I never heard this tune before...the intro is basically the same arpeggio walk down. Much more literal than the Stairway/ Taurus comparison. Maybe the Spirit legal team will go after Dolly too!
  15. Thanks, its nice to get more than a smug dismissal ....@JohnOsbourne
  16. Empress Valley, if you're reading this... I would gladly pay$150 for the complete board tape, or as complete a version as possible then give$40 to eelgrass, and I'm pretty sure there are plenty of other fans who would do the same. So wise up! Do it right, and price it affordably because if you bought the tape you deserve the dollars more than these other companies who simply copy what you've acquired and released.
  17. Haha, much needed levity in the master forum. You're a spring chicken.....I'll be 101.
  18. Also, does anyone know if Eelgrass is an offshoot( budget line ) of Empress Valley? If not, then they're just opportunists who rip and burn EVs product. Empress Valley has the proprietary source, and that means they are entitled to make a profit so they can keep presenting new sources....but this release is fucking bullshit. It's their way of summarily chastising their customers.
  19. As I said earlier , and others have noted...in this case it's not simply a show that EV downloaded for nothing, tweaked and pressed into discs. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong , but EV bought the source or a copy of it, which may have cost any number of thousands of dollars. So you are not only paying for packaging, you're paying for their initial costs and the work and materials involved in pressing the discs. That being said , it's still very lame that they aren't presenting the whole tape. I hope it backfires and they put out a complete product or even a merge , and charge accordingly. This release is a double edged sword ...it's magnificent and sucks all at once.
  20. So just after my post things actually got more heated. Well, I disagree that complaints aren't going to change anything.... often times, protest and dissent are heard and can affect change. Maybe the folks at EV will modify their current method and give the majority of the die hard fans what they want , which is... as complete a soundboard show as possible (if they have an exclusive copy) , and price it reasonably. Especially if it means they are not making the $$ they expected. The new trickle down tactic with this release should be met with frustration and protest, and should lose them $$. Fuck that shit. I think most people here who are into live recordings don't care to have 3 additional discs of a commonly heard source. Unless you're a complete newbie and want to have the old 929. There's nothing new to add to an old audience tape or "old sbd". That 5 disc set is useless to me, why would I shell out 300 clams for it? That's for the collector. The proprietary source is valuable and I would pay for it, but a partial release for $200+ ...nah thank yah.
