  1. Went to the show on Sunday and it was incredible! Started at 7 and ended at around half 11 - chock full of music with one heck of a lineup! Was bizarre to see Paul Weller as the first support act at 7pm before most gigs start! Eddie Vedder was a real highlight for me, never thought I'd hear Society live! Kelly Jones was amazing as well. In terms of Robert, he did a sort of redux of the current Saving Grace set and whilst I imagine for most of the audience most of the material wouldn't have been familiar he went down a storm. Loved hearing the band's version of Everybody's Song again - really hope they put out some studio versions of the songs. Friends went down a treat. They were pushed time wise so did a sped up version of And We Bid You Goodnight with everyone clapping along which was a hoot. Was fun to see Robert back on a bigger stage and he owned it - strutting around and playing with the mic lead. This is my third time seeing Saving Grace and this is the best they've sounded (and they sounded absolutely incredible the other times!) - the acoustics of the Albert Hall really suit the sound. Wouldn't mind a slightly changed up setlist for the next tour though! Roger Daltrey's headline set was a lot of fun and having seen the Who twice, it was fun to see him in a different context with a more stripped back sound. Wasn't familiar with Simon Townshend's solo stuff beforehand and I really want to check it out having loved the solo songs he played during the evening. Roger made a lighthearted joke which made everyone laugh - "Simon's a great songwriter, shame about his brother!" All in all an utterly phenomenal experience for such a great cause. It kind of felt full-circle having Robert there at Roger's last time curating it because my first big show aged thirteen was Robert with Strange Sensation at the Teenage Cancer Trust shows back in 2005. Would be fun if he was one of the guest curators in the coming years.
  2. Managed to get tickets to this, looks like it'll be a great show! Mad to think it's almost twenty years ago that I first saw Robert there in 2005 when I was 13! I wonder what the makeup of the show will be, whether it'll be Roger, Pete & special guests doing some songs with them like the Who's 2000 show there or shorter sets by each artists. Really happy that Robert is continuing with Saving Grace, loved both the shows I saw last year.
  3. Wow! Stairway! Never thought he'd play that again! Thanks for the link, the whole set sounded amazing and Robert's vocals were phenomenal. Fun to see Guy Pratt from Pink Floyd (who played on the Coverdale/Page tour) on bass.
  4. Not being shown in the UK alas. Hope it gets a streaming or physical release.
  5. Sounds amazing! Wasn't expecting The Rain Song and indeed any LZ stuff given Saving Grace has been a Zeppelin free zone thus far. Super excited about the UK tour. This is the most sonically exciting Americana project Robert's done I feel as there's an experimental feel to the arrangements. Very NQ Unledded in vibe. Bring on the album!
  6. First date of the tour kicks off tonight in Slovenia, will be interesting to see what's played! I received a download of the new single, As I Roved Out as I'd bought tickets to the upcoming UK tour, far rockier than I was expecting (heavier than the stuff with Alison and the Band of Joy) and much more similar to the Strange Sensation stuff. Liked it a lot and looking forward to the album!
  7. Saw this pop up in my Facebook feed - there's a documentary coming about about Akio Sakurai, a.k.a. 'Mr. Jimmy' who's the guitar player in Jason's band. In the trailer there's a fun bit of the real Jimmy watching him play. Looks like it'll be an interesting doc. It comes out September 1st. 8. Booked for Guildford and Salford! First RP shows for me since the Albert Hall in 2017! 😀 I'm also surprised by the demand given it's not a rock show but then Robert's a big name.
  9. I think it's probably all down to availability. QOTSA are becoming bigger and bigger and the Foos are one of the biggest bands in the world now. Unless Josh and Dave decided to take some time off specifically for TCV I don't see it happening again sadly. In other Zeppelin-related superground news, happy there's a new BCC record coming out though which I wasn't expecting so I guess it's proof that you never know! Would love to see JPJ do some shows with anyone though if no TCV stuff is on the horizon!
  10. Was wondering when he'd announce another tour as Saving Grace were announced for the Bert Jansch tribute show in November a while back. Going to try and get tickets for the Guildford show and possibly Salford as I'm in Manchester then. I think it's great that Robert's just doing what he wants to and continuing to have fun musically. He's definitely one of the few artists out there who's kept on evolving as time's gone on. I mean, I certainly wouldn't say no to some more Strange Sensation stuff but loving what he's doing with Saving Grace. As for the venue size, I think his decision to not go out and do a rock show is an indication that he'd rather play smaller venues. I see Saving Grace as Priory of Brion 2.0 in that regard.
  11. Don't know if it's been mentioned here but anyone in the UK may be interested to hear that The Scorps are finally heading back to the UK to headline the first night of the 'Rambling Man Festival' in Maidstone, Kent (near London) http://www.ramblinmanfair.com/#!home . It seems to be the latest incarnation of the 'High Voltage Festival' that was in Victoria Park. Tempted to head along as they were incredible at Wacken a couple of years ago and it's really close to me. Its around £100 for the weekend.
  12. I've been revisiting this album recently - I can safely say its now one of my favourite post Zeppelin releases, however this is after a rather long time of not really 'getting it' so to speak. Whilst Jimmy may not be in full lead guitar god mode on it I think there's some great playing to be found. I think if you don't go in expecting a Zeppelin album you won't be disappointed and I admire them for doing something different and not just doing the obvious. I wish Robert would play some stuff from it in his solo sets.
