  1. Believe it or not some of us love Page & Plant, I have absolutely nothing against either of them. Plant has kept the group's legacy intact by ensuring that they don't go down the same route as The Who & The Stones, embarrassing themselves by hobbling about singing Whole Lotta Love under the Led Zeppelin banner for 40 odd years. I'm more than happy with what Page is doing too, although if he hadn't have put the recent companion discs together I'm sure they would still be regarded as one of the greatest bands in the history of music. I'm hopeful that he gets more live stuff out there & I'll happily empty my wallet when he does.
  2. Some people just want to see negativity wherever Robert Plant is concerned for some reason. In reality, he's the one who has ensured that the Led Zeppelin legacy has remained intact.
  3. You're going to be waiting a very long time I'm afraid.
  4. Really enjoying these videos & I've PM'd you a couple of suggestions, Porgie. Cheers & keep 'em coming.
  5. I've been slowly dipping my toe into Coltrane's 'free' later period, I'm currently somewhere in between A Love Supreme & Ascension, haven't got as far as Interstellar Space yet. My current favourite albums are Eric Dolphy's Outward Bound, Coltrane's Sun Ship & Circle in the Round, which is a Miles Davis odds & sods release.
  6. The 1971 Black Dog from Japan that Steve posted up on here a few days back sounded great (although it was only a YouTube clip). The gossip I'm reading would suggest we're getting 1968 stuff this year rather than a Japan release however.
  7. Well he wasn't famous in 1967 & the only other pictures I've seen from 1967 are the Band of Joy ones (see below). It's quite possible that he went two or three months without many pictures being taken of him (after having his hair curled). Someone would probably have to ask Pat Bonham if it was a wig although as per my earlier post, there is mention of a Hendrix-inspired afro in the John Bonham books (Thunder of Drums or Mick Bonham's book), I'll need to check.
  8. By the way, I don't think it's a wig. There's definitely mention of an (Hendrix inspired) afro in one of my John Bonham books by one of his acquaintances.
  9. I get his sarcasm & generally find his sense of humour to be right up my street. After 40 years of being asked the same questions, laughing at the interviewers would probably be my response too.
  10. No moustache & an afro? If this is all I get for the 50th anniversary then I'll be happy with that. If a picture of John Bonham playing drums in 1967 emerges then you can just stick a fork in me.
  11. Yeah, him saying that he won't do a reunion tour for the last 30 odd years does sound pretty conflicted.
  12. I absolutely love River & Seed of Memory. Rich Kid Blues & May Fly from his eponymous 1969 LP are also great tracks...
  13. My source is the kettle at this reunion rehearsal, keep this under your hat but he said that Robert loves a lemon tea & Jason ate a whole packet of chocolate Hob Nobs in one sitting.
  14. The Keith Richards quote isn't from the late 60s though is it, is it not a 70s quote which he made after Led Zeppelin were established as one of the biggest bands in the World? I can see what you're saying though, fair enough.
  15. An unhip session man who had been doing string arrangements for The Stones & playing bass on Beck's Bolero? I think Page & Jones were pretty much part of the swinging London scene, clearly Plant & Bonham were not.
  16. I'm not sure all that is entirely correct, John Paul Jones was pretty well know around London by the time Led Zeppelin kicked off & I think The Yardbirds were rated quite highly by a lot of musicians in the 60s. I think a lot of the jealousy came from the deal Zeppelin got with Atlantic rather than any genuine disrespect for their playing abilities.
  17. Agreed. I'm entitled to my opinion too though & I think he's a bad tit.
  18. I think Tea For One is one of the best things Led Zeppelin ever done. The whole LP is great really, it's probably the studio album I play the most in the house these days.
  19. Any news on this California Jam '74 album coming out? It's out in a couple of weeks but there's no cover image or track listing on Amazon...
  20. Possibly the most underrated song of all time...
