  1. The People's Front Of Zeppelin is a new YouTube channel devoted to playing covers of Zep's music, instrumentally (for now, until we find a great singer). Most of our cover videos are inspired by Zep's live style performances, but will also be posting studio versions as well. Please subscribe to our channel and follow us on Instagram and Facebook. Oh...and we are NOT the Zeppelin People's Front! 😏 Here is a link.... Hope you dig what we are about! If so, please spread the word!
  2. Here are some never-before-seen fan photos from Led Zeppelin's legendary Carnegie Hall (October 17, 1969) appearance. A group of 15 year-old fans captured their experience at the 8:30pm (early show) from the 10th row. They describe a lack of security, except for Carnegie Hall ushers and were free to venture up to the front of the stage for a few pics as well. Amazingly, these photos also reveal Jimmy Page's first photographed live use of his Black Beauty Les Paul during Led Zeppelin and confirms it was brought to North America for this fall 1969 tour. http://www.ledzeppelin.com/show/october-17-1969
  3. They're almost always mentioned in the top 2 or 3. Jimi Hendrix was incredibly talented. Has a blues/jazz/improv way of playing that was very akin to the black artists of the 30's-50's. He was just really soulful and poetic with the guitar. But unfortunately, he died way too young, and I don't think his catalogue matches up with Page's for that reason alone. Page proved to be far more versatile and wide-reaching with the kind of music he'd play, between loud, soft, soothing, aggressive, he mastered just about every angle of guitaring.
  4. Not sure if this has been discussed here or not, David Bowie's song "Dead Man Walking" that Jimmy Page contributed the 'basic' guitar part for. I've always wondered what he thought of the finished song. The YT links to Bowie and Reeves Gabrels discussing the song are below. I also wonder why JP never found his own "Alison Krauss" to work and perform with over the years for his acoustic material. There's always Roy Harper I guess. Reeves Gabrels talks about the third single from David Bowies 'Earthling' album. “Dead Man Walking’ and the guitar part Jimmy Page gave Bowie. David Bowie telling the story of the song “Dead Man Walking” on Conan O’brien.
  5. Hi there! I've been out for a long time. Hope you're all fine. Well, I just wanted to let you know that I've just finished one of the hardest projects: a more faithful replica of that pendant considering there's not a single sharp photo of it. If someone here wants one, I give 10% off saying that found me via this forum. It's handmade under request and is an exclusive fine piece. Ps.Thank you and if I could not post here sorry! http://mystikdragon.com
  6. I was wondering if anyone has any stories or luck with Jimmy Page fan mail? I figure during this pandemic is a good shot at catching him at a good time during his lockdown. I've heard he isn't staying at his London house currently but is in his southeast England home for his lockdown. Who knows any info will help... thanks!
  7. *****NOTE: I am new to this forum; I am NOT new to anything Led Zeppelin. Please, I ask you to ignore the first part of that sentence, and consider the second. Appreciated. ****** ***The Song Remains the Same Complete Re-EDIT On Way! *** [Note]: Individual evaluation only, not a means of piracy; this will NOT be distributed in any such way; again, my individual evaluations I've always preferred original TSRTS footage, be it a bootleg or 8mm. However, the actual viewing experience is rather limited by the subpar quality even terrible for 1970's cinematics. Honestly, the "film" portions of the film (I know, that sounds redundant, whatever) are pretty ugly. When one compares the close-up concert sequences re-filmed, the viewing experience becomes exhilarating. Add original panoramas of the actual crowd; the experience is timeless. And, of course, 1920 X 1080 resolution is absolutely stunning. The producers made their best intentions to create the best viewing experience possible during the time. The only reason I bring this thought up is because of a project I am working on to re-edit TSRTS (film) as close to original setlist as possible, while still retaining an apex entertainment factor. The fan-edition looks great, but I wish to make it even better. The plans are as follows: 1. Rip 2007 Blu-Ray release as a main video reference for best consumer-attainable quality as of 2013 2. Integrate my FLAC vinyl rips as much as possible to cover the abridged / shortened scene performances and restore original song length. 3. Somehow attain the best quality original footage / bootlegs. This includes the abandoned gaps in Black Dog, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, etc. 4. The whole point of #3 is to eliminate psychedelic/fantasy sequences limiting attention on the band itself. The problem really arises from point no. 3; attaining footage to fill the gaps. I have some, but not enough. If anyone knows where to access the originals in best quality, that would be a great help! Plans for release are late December/early January 2013/2014, though this is extremely tentative and subject to change. ***This is for experimentation purposes only and NOT for personal gain, resale, or profit or mass-release and or reproduction; only individual evaluation.*** If any of you are of interest, please don't hesitate to inform me as soon as possible! Thank you for your support. -A/S
  8. I know this has been discussed in the past given the wide availability of the Crystal Bay bootleg, but this new article at Ultimate Classic Rock has interviews with members of both local bands Jimmy got up onstage with in the spring of 1991 in Lake Tahoe. Interesting how the shows he did with Public Eye consisted of mainly Zeppelin songs when none of them were performed at Crystal Bay. Also, playing bass and doing a Yardbirds only set? That's wild.
  9. Spotted this double-vinyl set at the record shop today. I think I have this show on one of my Led Zeppelin boots…the huge 10-disc "Strange Tales From the Road" from Rock Solid Records. I wonder if this release is a huge upgrade in sound? The album cover is Jimmy from 1977 and bears no relation to the 1984 show on the vinyl. This was all the information I could find on it. I have yet to come across Volume 1. https://experiencevinyl.com/products/copy-of-jimmy-page-friends-a-tribute-to-alexis-korner-vol-1-vinyl-lp?variant=39256397054038
  10. I love this version of the song! Does anyone have a tab of how Jimmy plays it here? I can never get this one right. I can play the regular song, but the way he does this version.... I just don't know. Thanks!

  12. As we come up to nearly 11 years since the Concert for Ahmet Ertegun, co-founder of Atlantic Records, at the O2 Venue in London, I am reminded of how self-centered Robert was to not want to do another handful of shows for that Tribute and re-union of Led Zep. Over the years since that famous night in December 2007, I have come to the conclusion that a "one off" concert for Ahmet and Zeppelin was not only a selfish decision on Robert's behalf, but a real travesty to us as fans, the music world, and personally to the other members of Zeppelin and their families. For all the rehearsals, time away from families and projects, and all the logistical aspects for that Night, they all now seem like a looming shadow over Robert's insistence not to continue that energy and good will. A shadow that grows longer and darker as the years pass and a Zeppelin reunion, for whatever reason, becomes nearly impossible. That Night at the O2 was so incredibly great and magical, can one imagine if they continued for even a handful of shows in different parts of the world where Ahmet and Zeppelin had such over-whelming influence and support. Let's take North America for instance. A show would have certainly been well received in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Tampa, and say Dallas. All places where Zeppelin was noted for Tour stops back in their hey-day. All famous for their sold out venues and amazing, if not crazed, fans. Not only would that have been the right thing to do, I believe that with time and more shows - the Band would have gotten even better and tighter as a unit! Imagine... But no. Robert would have none of it. And we as fans, and the music world, are lesser for his decision. Ahmet made Atlantic Records famous in the US first. That's where his real market was. That's where he passed away and a tribute by Zeppelin would have been well suited in those and other cities. Jimmy, John Paul, and Jason were all on board, fired up, and ready to continue their success from that Night at the O2. All the pieces were in place. Everything. The Band was so rehearsed and even Jason was more than ready to fill his dad's big boots. But Robert held his ground and denied himself, and the members, and the fans that couldn't attend the O2 concert, a once in a lifetime chance to see Zeppelin reach new heights, a new audience, and make certain that Ahmet was given his due in the United States. His home away from home. Looking back, for what did Robert prove. 11 years almost gone - what was the point in not giving 6 months more in 2007 - 2008 to a Band's legacy. The Led Zeppelin 50th Anniversary has come and gone now - with nothing new or exciting to talk about.... Robert, I love you beyond words. Thank you for all of your artistry and true inspiration. Your integrity will never be second guessed. However, your insistence on not continuing that magical Zeppelin resurgence at the O2, will also be a chapter in any historical accounting of the mighty Led Zeppelin. Maybe you don't care, but we do; and I'm certain the other Band members do as well now that Time has marched onward from that Night.
  13. Hi, I have used this time while in lockdown to feed my love of everything Led Zeppelin. 15. hi guys, my vinyl copy of led zeppelin 2(remaster) says "living loving wreck(shes just a woman)" on the label. i know that the first pressings had that aswell, but the mistake was soon fixed. do the remasters have that as a tribute or do have a super rare copy? the title on the gatefold has the correct spelling.
  16. Here's my custom made Jimmy Page Black Dragon Jacket! I play guitar for Electric Magic- my Led Zeppelin tribute band. We had a pretty big gig down in the Lower East Side of New York City at Otto's Shrunken Head. The set list was gonna have some heavy deep tracks....Sick Again, What Is And What Should Never Be, Ten Years Gone, Kashmir, Rock n' Roll, Dazed and Confused (with bow solo) and Ramble on. For the show it was decided that we should dress as the members of Zeppelin but not go way over the top. This jacket is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy it. I was a real challenge to make. It's not exact but kinda close right???? It looks beautiful on stage and under the lights!!!
  17. One afternoon, in the winter of 1972, I got a call from an excited Ramzan, the owner of Slip Disc, the happening discotheque and live band show place of our time. He told me that Robert Plant and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin were in town and are to visit the Slip Disc and perform that evening so please get there as early as I could. If only you could imagine the excitement and turmoil that took place for the next few hours in the life of this fledging young Rock singer! A hundred telephone calls later I was on my way to distant Colaba from our bungalow in Chembur and reached the Slip Disc to find it almost full. And this was a good four hours before their scheduled arrival! Good news sure travels fast and as we waited for the arrival of our Rock Icons, we prepared for their performance with a last minute check on the music equipment available. Those were the tough days of import control and we had really poor stuff that was scrounged and smuggled with the help of relatives from abroad and rich benefactors. We were hoping that this would not mar the enthusiasm of the Rock Superstars who were used to the very best! As the next few hours slowly crawled and H hour arrived, the Slip Disc began to burst at the seams and the crowd was getting difficult to manage, It was weird seeing a discotheque with no music playing, filled to capacity with people just waiting for the stars to arrive and the excitement levels were at danger levels. We received minute-by-minute information about the progress of their arrival from the Taj Mahal Hotel where the duo was staying. Fortunately it was just a hop skip and a jump away and Ramzan was in their room waiting to escort them to his noisy club on Bombay’s waterfront. Just as it seemed that the wait was getting unbearable, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page made their entrance into the discotheque to the spontaneous applause of their crazy fans myself included. The next hour was like a blur to me especially after all these years, as just too much seemed to be happening. As Robert and Jimmy were busy signing autographs for the crowd that descended on them, for a brief instance, I could not help but feel a sense of disappointment on seeing my idols in person. I had imagined a very strong male and macho presence especially from the tall Plant and their music exuded such incredible energy, yet both of them were so soft-spoken and almost effeminate in their behavior! Their apparent frail exteriors made me more aware of the thousands of misconceptions that we must have been carrying around with us. Don’t forget we did not have television at that time and we were always craving for information. We only had their music to inspire us and we were using our imagination to carve out the entire personas of our idols! Soon these thoughts were out of my mind as it was time for the duo to perform. It had been decided that Xerxes Gobhai, the talented bassist from the Human Bondage and Jameel Shaikh, the drummer from my band would back them but nobody had any idea what they would perform. There was just no time to get into any details, as anything would do for us music-starved fans and before we knew it, Led Zeppelin, Bombay style were announced to the audience. Jimmy and Plant got into the groove from the word go as they launched into Rock and Roll, the hit from Led Zep 4 and the audience went wild! They followed that with an extended blues where their stay in Bombay seemed to feature a lot. Black Dog followed and before we knew it was all over. They must have been on stage for a maximum of 25 minutes and we savored every second of that. At that time, Led Zeppelin were on top of the charts and it was a great opportunity for us to see at least two of them perform live in Bombay and they were just a few feet away! In later years, the story of the Plant/Page visit took on an unbelievable aura around it and everybody seemed to have different recollections of that night… myself included. But I guess that is what legends are made of. Today it even seems ridiculous as it to how much hysteria a couple of Rock Stars could generate! Yet this was the barometer with which you could judge the passion with which we loved our music. Please, keep the fire burning and Rock on! 18. I know about a "cult" photo where Page is wearing a mage's outfit, but I've never found it anywhere. Does anyone have this image? (It's not the same suit he's wearing in TSRTS movie when playing Dazed and Confused) If somebody has, I would be greatful forever!!!
