  1. Hi. I'm new here but I wanted to join so I could share something. Am I allowed to share links for downloading it from my cloud storage or do I only offer them if people PM me? Long post - deep breath! Been working on it since the summer when it started to become apparent that Jimmy Page was not going to deliver the 50th Anniversary Live boxed set that we all hoped for. Well, if he wasn't going to do it, then I was certainly going to give it my best shot! My starting point was that for 1969-1973, we have near-complete live shows for each year: Paris Olympia from 1969 Royal Albert Hall from 1970 BBC Paris Theatre from 1971 How The West Was Won from 1972 Madison Square Garden from 1973 As the years 1975-1980 are only represented by the DVD's highlights from Earls Court '75 and Knebworth '79, I decided to concentrate purely on these years. Unfortunately, as much as I love Led Zep (they have been my favourite band for years) we all know that during the second half of their career their performances were sometimes inconsistent. Plant had vocal issues, Page had certain other issues and even Bonham could have a dodgy night. I knew that if I was to construct a live album for each of these years that was anywhere near definitive or near the standard required for an official release, it was going to involve a lot of editing. Plant's vocal squeaks and cracks needed sorting, Page's flubs needed to be addressed and a few band timing issues needed smoothing out. If I was to make an edit within a song and use a better performance from another night then I also wanted to match the EQ, reverb and stereo separation. Some soundboards varied so much in these areas! What I've ended up with is a 2cd or 3cd soundboard compilation from 1973, America and Earls Court 1975, America 1977, Knebworth 1979 and Europe 1980 to approximate a complete show from each of these tours/shows. I've also done the same for L.A. 1977, trying to use only Mike Millard's recordings wherever possible. I know they are audience recordings but they are so good and so legendary that even Page saw fit to use one for a menu on the official DVD set. I've sprinkled a few extras here and there just for kicks. As a bonus I've created an alternative version of The Song Remains The Same soundtrack. This one comes from my frustration at what we were officially given for the 50th Anniversary. The flawed 2007 version of The Song Remains The Same was reissued, despite Page having the opportunity to finally give the soundtrack the treatment it deserved - for example, by using the superior 1976 album versions of some of the songs and ditching the film versions with their awkward edits that sometimes even added or took away beats of the bar. A complete Black Dog would also have been nice! This is the version I wish had been issued. Many thanks to The Garden Tapes website which provided invaluable help. I've included a compilation (entitled 1973-1980) of songs which were some of my favourite performances but which didn't meet the standard I was looking for in terms of a near-perfect performance or sound quality. This compilation consists of 6 cds of honourable mentions, mostly soundboards but with a few top quality audience recordings that compete in terms of performance. Oh, and Volume 10 consists of 3 DVDs: the 1st is my version of what an official Earls Court compilation could look like, the 2nd my presentation of the Seattle gig with better sound + some extras and the 3rd is my version of what an official Knebworth compilation could look like. Note: If the edit I've made is just for a beat or two, or for a couple of seconds then I have not listed which show it has come from (there are many!) but if it is a large section of the song then I have detailed the source. Apologies for the few fixed tracks. Hope it's pretty self-explanatory for which track replaces which track. Finally, muchas gracias to the YouTuber Led Zeppelin Boots and the remaster wizard Liriodendron. I used a lot of their ideas in compiling the setlists and the 1977 sets and 1973 set especially contain a lot of their work. Here is a tracklisting for the set: Volume 1: 1973 CD1 01-Rock And Roll (Fort Worth 19-5-73) 02-Celebration Day (Fort Worth 19-5-73) 03-Black Dog (Fort Worth 19-5-73) 04-Over The Hills And Far Away (Fort Worth 19-5-73) 05-Georgia On My Mind (Salt Lake City 26-5-73) 06-Misty Mountain Hop (Salt Lake City 26-5-73) 07-Since I've Been Loving You (Mobile 13-5-73) 08-No Quarter (Seattle 17-7-73) 09-Dancing Days (Southampton 22-1-73) 10-Bron-Y-Aur Stomp (Stoke 15-1-73) CD2 01-The Song Remains The Same (Seattle 17-7-73) 02-The Rain Song (Seattle 17-7-73) 03-Dazed And Confused (Seattle 17-7-73) 04-Stairway To Heaven (L.A. 31-5-73) CD3 01-Moby Dick (Mobile 13-5-73) 02-Heartbreaker (Detroit 13-7-73) 03-Whole Lotta Love (Detroit 13-7-73) 04-The Ocean (San Francisco 2-6-73) 05-Communication Breakdown (Denver 25-5-73) 06-Organ Solo - there is no complete video of this song from the 24th). Audio sources: 24th - audience matrix audio (thanks rickm1964) for Rock And Roll/Sick Again because it took a few songs for Plant's voice to warm up on both nights as per the norm. The audio for the rest of the show is largely untouched except for a few vocal flubs here and there. 25th - King Jimmy and the West Bromwich Blues Band (Bluecongo audio matrix) synced to video. Video sources: 24th - In The Court Of King James (EV) up to Bron-Y Aur Stomp. This has a noticable improvment in picture quality, particularly for Tangerine. - Heavy Metal Kids (EV) from Trampled Underfoot to the end as there are no audio drop outs, and not much improvement in picture quality from King James, which has audio drop outs on its 2nd disc. - Return Of The Kings (WOW) for a tiny portion of That's The Way to make it as complete as possible. 25th - Demand Unprecedented In The History Of Rock Music (EV) DVD2 - Seattle 1977, Europe 1980 + Promos Seattle 1977 01-The Song Remains The Same (soundboard/audience audio matrix) 02-Sick Again (soundboard/audience audio matrix) 03-Nobody's Fault But Mine 04-Ten Years Gone 05-The Battle Of Evermore 06-Going To California 07-Black Country Woman 08-Bon-Y-Aur Stomp 09-White Summer-Black Mountain Side (soundboard/audience audio matrix) 10-Kashmir (soundboard/audience audio matrix) 11-Over The Top (soundboard/audience audio matrix) 12-Guitar Solo (soundboard/audience audio matrix) 13-Achilles Last Stand (soundboard/audience audio matrix) 14-Stairway To Heaven (soundboard/audience audio matrix) 15-Whole Lotta Love (soundboard/audience audio matrix) 16-Rock And Roll (soundboard/audience audio matrix) Europe 1980 01-Rotterdam 8mm with soundboard audio 02-Zurich 8mm with soundboard audio 03-Munich 8mm with audience audio Promos 01-No Quarter (complete version, MSG 1973) 02-Over The Hills And Far Away (L.A. 1975) 03-The Song Remains The Same - Sick Again (MSG 1977) 04-Sick Again (promo, L.A. 1977) 05-Achilles Last Stand (promo, L.A. 1977) 06-Whole Lotta Love - Rock And Roll (MSG 1977) 07-Ten Years Gone (VH1 promo, Knebworth 1979) 08-Hot Dog (promo, Knebworth 1979) 09-Kashmir (MTV promo, Knebworth 1979 - not the same as the 2003 DVD Knebowrth version of Kashmir!) NOTES + SOURCES: This disc requires quite a bit of explanation. I believe that Seattle 77's negative reputation comes from a) the dry video feed audio that is extremely unsympathetic to Plant's voice and Page's guitar and b) the fact that Over The Hills, Since I've Been Loving You and No Quarter are very underpar performances early on in the show. The rest of the concert, I think, is in some places spectacular. The acoustic set was always very enjoyable; even with the dry audio mix, Bonham's drumming is awesome throughout (is there a better Over The Top?) and Page performs one of his finest Stairway solos. All that is even more apparent with this audio matrix mix. Thank you to Sue Dounim for that wonderful piece of painstaking work. Audio sources: The Song Remains The Same-Sick Again - Sue Dounim audience/soundboard matrix synced with Video by Randy Butternubs II Nobody's Fault But Mine-Bron-Y-Aur Stomp - The Year Of The Dragon (EV) White Summer-Kashmir - audience/soundboard matrix (thanks, Randy B!) Over The Top to end - Sue Dounim audience/soundboard matrix synced with Video by Randy Butternubs II Video source: The Year Of The Dragon (EV) The Europe 1980 section comes from the fact that this is the only year in the box set for which there is no pro video. However, sounboards are in abundance. These 3 pieces of 8mm film represent the best of the 1980 footage and are from LedZeppelin.com. Munich is particularly enjoyable with Plant in fine voice. The Promos section consists of a) all the bits of broadcast film I could find that were used as official promos for songs on VH1 and MTV in the 80s and 90s which did not turn up on the 2003 DVD set, b) all the complete songs synced together from 8mm footage and bootleg recordings also found on Led Zeppelin.com and c) a wonderful fan-made edit (thank you, Rainson Zeppelin - yours is the superior version) of No Quarter that combines the superior Soundtrack album version with the film version and film footage in a very satisfying way! I felt I just had to include it as I probably enjoy watching it more than almost any other Led Zeppelin performance. This is the one! DVD3 - Knebworth 1979 No chapters (caused sync issues - feel free to amend!) 01-The Song Remains The Same 02-Celebration Day 03-Black Dog 04-Nobody's Fault But Mine 05-Over The Hills And Far Away 06-Misty Mountain Hop 07-Since I've Been Loving You 08-No Quarter 09-Ten Years Gone 10-Hot Dog 11-The Rain Song 12-White Summer-Black Mountain Side 13-Kashmir 14-Trampled Underfoot 15-Sick Again 16-Achilles Last Stand 17-Guitar Solo 18-In The Evening 19-Stairway To Heaven 20-Rock And Roll 21-Whole Lotta Love 22-Communication Breakdown 23-You'll Never Walk Alone 24-Heartbreaker Once again, like the Earls Court DVD, I have avoided using any performances that are on the official 2003 DVD (apart from an un-messed-with-in-a-studio version of Achilles from the 1st night - they completely messed it up on the 2nd night, hence that was unusable). Sources are: Knebworth 4-8-79 - Knebworth Masters (30th Anniversary Edition) - this uses the Winston soundboard/audience matrix for audio Knebworth 11-8-79 - Return Of The Dinosaurs (Genuine Masters) Both of these sources are still considered to be best by most fans. Once you have all 10 volumes (30 discs in total), I truly believe that you have all you need from 1973-1980 as a regular Zep fan. If this was released in a similar fashion to the Pink Floyd Early Years boxed set, it could be presented as the final word on this period of their live career. Or that was the idea, anyway! They barely made a false move from 1968-1972. Almost every concert is a winner. You should have them all as you lot probably know! It is definitely harder navigating through 1973-1980 and this 30 disc box set came from a desire of mine that all began when I heard my first Zep boots back in 1993: BBC '71, Destroyer '77 and Zurich '80. I hope it helps new fans wade through the tapes and provides old fans with a solution to the problem of there being no official 50th anniversary live box set from Jimmy Page. Enjoy!
  2. the amazing "BLAST OFF" part of the solo in "IN THE EVENING" sO unique, original, perfect for the song! Id like to hear some feedback on it: -what musicians thought of it first X hearing it -Page & Plant tour= someX's PAGE did play that part ,it was hard live ,however somewhere on Utube i DID see him "pull it off" live! One X in particular LIVE he REALLY NAILED IT! can someone share THAT link? or any other versions audio or video ?
  3. This is my 3rd and I Final take on this and I swear I won't plague the Forum with another one of these, haha. If you've followed or contributed in any way to my previous two takes, you may recall what motivated me to do this. If not, here's a quick summary. Curiosity got me asking, of all the Live songs Zeppelin did, what do I have in my library...and just how many songs did they perform live; 58. This led me to realize I've been living under an internet rock for a very long time. There are so many unreal zeppelin websites that I could not have done this without. Black Beauty was the most relevant by far, ditto this Forum. The music and content between those two sites was an unbelievable resource. A huge thanks to devoted Zep Fans who offered insights and thoughts as I took on this ~2.5 year task. Then there's sites like The Garden Tapes by Eddie Edwards; such masters level devotion to the official live content. And other detailed sites like the Plantations website, the site that itemized cover songs they did, etc. So much good info out there that helped me tackle this project, thanks and kudos to all. So here it is, my final cut at Zeppelin's Best Of Live Performances. The biggest difference from before is the influence of the 2003 DVD songs I finally got onto mp3, thanks to Xolo1974. For these (and the other official release songs) I've embedded into the file the reference date/location of the performance; thanks again to the high detail of The Garden Tapes work. A few new Heartbreaker and Dazed versions made it in as well as a few other recommendations from Forum Folks. There's also a lot more B-sides as many recommendations couldn't be left off. I'd like to put another big shout out to Michael Fry who offered his unreal work from his 50th Anniversary Box Set efforts (see his forum post) not to mention his editing advice via the Audacity application. With it I've been able to make so many edits, most of which were tinkering with Plantation intros and outros to songs. But it also helped with so many other small things that improved the listening experience; often a 30+ minute effort to improve less than 30 seconds of song, haha. Between those and a lot of advice, thoughts, feedback, etc. Mike's fingerprint is on this a bunch! Note that this project focused more on song quality, as some muffled audience versions were good but sounded too much like someone was snuffing out my speakers with a pillow. So I did focus heavily on official releases, soundboards or very good audience recordings. Between their live content and cover tunes, there's over 81 different songs. But when you consider the multiple versions of their major hits and the 15 B Sides, this massive seven set 125 song "concert" compilation comes in at over 18.5 hours of some seriously sweet Zeppelin listening. Some songs are referenced by their official release CD/DVD. Some songs are referenced by their well known concerts which I pulled several songs from. The remainder are referenced directly with their location and date. Hopefully this is easy to follow. The below can let ya put this together yourself, and then even modify it to fit your fav song preferences. Feel free to PM me if you'd like my copy as it'll save you a lot of time...maybe even years, haha. Enjoy! Set A Most of this set is targeted at songs created in 1968-69. I cut A15 down to mostly just the melodies. The first part was pretty poor in quality yet the melodies were in much better condition...and considering WLL shows up a lot in the following sets, this altering made sense to me. The first two B Sides show up in Set A now, as more cool versions came my way. A1 Good Times Bad Times – Celebration Day CD A2 I Can't Quit You Baby – Live At Olympia CD A3 The Train Kept A Rollin’ – Texas Pop Festival A4 I Gotta Move – Stockholm March 14, 1969 A5 Sitting And Thinking – Fillmore West A6 As Long As I Have You - Fillmore West A7a Dazed And Confused - 2003 DVD (Mar 17) A8 White Summer/Black Mountain Side – Live At Olympia CD A9 Killing Floor/Lemon Song – Fillmore West A10 Pat’s Delight – Fillmore West A11 The Girl She Got Long Brown Wavy Hair – BBC Sessions CD A12a Babe I'm Gonna Leave You – Whiskey A Go Go A13 Beatles Interlude - Osaka A14 Your Time Is Gonna Come, WLL excerpt - Tokyo Sep 24, 1971 A15 WLL Melodies - Osaka A16 You Shook Me – Live At Olympia CD A17 How Many More Times – Fillmore West A18 Communication Breakdown – Live On Blueberry Hill Set B This set is aiming towards 1970 songs. By somewhat coincidence I stuck a lot of the Blueberry Hill material together, in it's original sequence as it sounded great the way the band had it. Forum folk brought my attention to RAH's Heartbreaker, which legit is an outstanding version. Given it was cut off, I thought the latter half of an Osaka concert was equally good and fitting to complete the song. I transitioned it as best I could but have to admit it's ok, but not perfect, yet enjoyable enough to keep. B1 We’re Gonna Groove – Montreux Mar 7, 1970 B2 C’mon Everybody – Royal Albert Hall B3 The Girl Can’t Help It – New York, evening Sept 19, 1970 B4 Something Else – BBC Sessions CD B5 Out on the Tiles – Live On Blueberry Hill B6 Bron-Yr-Aur – Live On Blueberry Hill B7 Since I've Been Loving You – Live On Blueberry Hill B8 Organ Solo – Live On Blueberry Hill B9 Thank You – BBC Sessions CD B10 Ramble On – Celebration Day CD B11 What Is and What Should Never Be – BBC Sessions CD B12 Bring It On Home – HTWWW CD B13a Heartbreaker – Royal Albert Hall n Osaka B14 Whole Lotta Love – Live on Blueberry Hill B15 Blueberry Hill – Live On Blueberry Hill Set C In this somewhat 1971 set, I did another WLL melodies. The beginning of WLL HTWWW was very similar to TSRTS and others, so I cut it and focused on the material that was different. Celebration Day below is such a good version, but the start up was relatively drab, so I swapped a few seconds from TSRTS to liven it up. C1 Immigrant Song – HTWWW CD C2a Celebration Day – Osaka Sep 28, 1971 opening w TSRTS CD (original) C3 Long Tall Sally – Royal Albert Hall C4 The Lemon Song – Whisky A Go Go C5 Friends – Osaka C6a That's the Way – HTWWW CD C7 Gallows Pole – Copenhagen May 3, 1971 C8 Four Sticks – Copenhagen May 3, 1971 C9 WLL Excerpt – HTWWW CD, Cut ~10 mins, starts w Millionaire C10 Stairway to Heaven – TSRTS CD (original) C11 How Many More Times – Texas Pop Festival Set D This mostly 1972 themed set begins to transition into 1973. Black Country Woman is a bit lower in quality, but I believe was the only time they played it before the '77 concerts, so it seemed right to include it. I put D9 & D10 on the same track so they would play seamlessly like they're supposed to. D1 Communication Breakdown – BBC CD D2 Dancing Days – HTWWW CD D3 Money – Frankfurt June 30, 1980 D4 Louie Louie – HTWWW bootleg LA June 25, 1972 D5a Over the Hills and Far Away – Snow Job D6 Black Country Woman – Seattle June 19, 1972 D7 Bron-Y-Aur Stomp – 2003 DVD D8 Travelling Riverside Blues – BBC Sessions CD D9 Misty Mountain Hop – TSRTS CD (2007) D10 Since I've Been Loving You – TSRTS CD (2007) D11 Stand By Me – Osaka Oct 9 1972 D12a Rock and Roll – HTWWW CD Set E The songs I was setting aside for this set started to take the form of the 1973 TSRTS, with E5 being the only real exception. I somewhat followed the order of the original NYC set list. With D12 finishes off Set D, it helps blend into the start of Set E given it was the concert opener in ’73. I again put E2 & E3 on the same file so they would blend properly without my mp3 player botching it up with a pregnant pause. Any recommendations for a good MP3 player? It does this with all my other albums too; really annoying. E1 Black Dog – HTWWW CD E2 The Song Remains the Same – TSRTS CD (original) E3 The Rain Song – TSRTS CD (original) E4a No Quarter – Snow Job E5 The Crunge – WLL excerpt Dallas Mar 5, 1975 E6a Dazed and Confused – HTWWW E7 Stairway to Heaven – Last Concert E8 Moby Dick – HTWWW CD E9a Heartbreaker - Earls Court E10a Whole Lotta Love – Detroit July 13, 1973 E11 The Ocean – HTWWW CD E12 Thank You – NYC July 27, 1973 Set F This set is an attempt to feature Physical Graffiti a bit. F6 and F10 are excellent versions provided by Michael Fry, really cool listens. I added a small touch to F10 and hopefully blended it well enough that you'll notice it and not notice it at the same time. I started adding more plantations in these later sets, I felt they added to this project making it feel more concert-like without just cutting this exactly song by song. Cheers to Strider who directed me to the soundboard for The Wonton Song, it's legit the most clear of the few versions out there; great find from a guy who seems to have some of the most obscure and in depth knowledge of the band. F1a Going to California w Custard Pie interlude – Houston May 21, 1977 F2 Trampled Under Foot – Earls Court F3 In My Time of Dying – '77 LA Show 4 F4 Sick Again – 2003 DVD F5 Sex Machine – Inglewood Mar 25, 1975 F6 Night Flight (Soundcheck) – Chicago July 7, 1973 F7 The Wanton Song – Minneapolis Jan 18, 1975 F8 When the Levee Breaks – Chicago Jan 20, 1975 F9 Since I've Been Loving You – Last Concert F10 Tangerine – Earls Court combo 18th & 24th F11 White Summer – Royal Albert Hall F12 Kashmir – Destroyer F13a WLL/Rock And Roll – '77 LA Show 3 Set G The final set is focused on live material they played after 1975 and then also has some very cool versions of their earlier stuff. The difference between Take 2 of this project and Take 3 mostly shows itself in Set G, as two more songs got moved/added in here while some others got replaced and/or got moved to the B sides. Overall, there’s a lot of songs and each version tends to be long. This set now clocks in at just over four and a half hours culminating in a grand finale of some serious tunes! I had to edit Black Country Woman and Hot Dog together. I liked the immediate start of Hot Dog, but again, my mp3 player's pregnant pause was ruining things. For similar reasons G25 & G 26 are also one track, you'll see why with how I've edited them. I liked how 1977s G12 sets up 1975s G13. NQ is such an artsy concert song. So many versions sounds unique at first, which didn't make selecting a few 'best' versions for this project easy. I quarreled over a dozen versions, listening to them repeatedly for a week; and at 25-30 mins each, it was an undertaking, haha. I may have gotten caught in a Zep vortex, but I did finally see some similar themes in the versions, which helped reduce it to the few in this 'concert'. In this set I merged the first half of Destroyer's NQ with the June 11 show that was cut off. I did later found the full recording, but preferred the combo as it reduced 2 versions into 1 while making a long and epic NQ. I also did a Stairway combination in this set. I think it comes off really cool, but you'll have to judge for yourself. Yes, there’s 2 versions of WLL in this one set. The 1980 version, however, is so different from all of the others, that G14 and G29 are hardly the same song…and I spaced them out by over 2 hrs, so I hope it’s not too much WLL. Lastly, I had another version of The Crunge in my pile of songs I liked, but had no place left for it to go. So I decided to extend the final WLL by adding it to the Crunge portion of the song. I don’t expect most will like it, but it is nice to have the final song of the long final set of this massive concert to be a bit longer than just 14 minutes. G1 Heartbreaker – '77 LA Show 1 G2 Black Dog – Snow Job G3 It’ll Be Me – Fort Worth May 22, 1977 w Mick Ralph of Bad Co. G4 Black Country Woman – Destroyer G5 Hot Dog – Rotterdam June 21, 1980 G6 The Battle of Evermore – Destroyer G7 Nobody's Fault but Mine – Destroyer G8 Ten Years Gone – Destroyer G9 Since I’ve Been Loving You – '77 LA Show 1 G10 How Many More Times – BBC CD G11a Dazed And Confused – TSRTS CD (original) G12 That’s Alright Mama – '77 LA Show 5 G13 Communication Breakdown – Earls Court G14 Whole Lotta Love – Last Concert G15 Over The Top – Destroyer G16 The Ocean – TSRTS CD (2007) G17 All My Love – Last Concert G18 Bron-Y-Aur Stomp w Dancing Days - '77 LA Show 6 G19 For Your Life – Celebration Day CD G20 Achilles Last Stand – 2003 DVD G21 No Quarter – Combo first 16 mins Destroyer + last 26 mins NYC June 11, 1977 G22 In My Time of Dying – NYC June 7, 1977 G23 Over The Hills And Far Away – '77 LA Show 1 G24 Stairway To Heaven – Combo of 80% '77 LA Show 3 + 20% Destroyer G25 We Shall Over Come – Osaka September 28, 1971 G26 Kashmir – '77 LA Show 1 G27 In the Evening – 2003 DVD G28a Trampled Under Foot – Destroyer G29 Whole Lotta Love – Combo of TSRTS (Original), with The Crunge Seattle Mar 21, 1975 B Sides These are the biggest change for Take 3 of this concert as they grew from 3 songs to 15 thanks to all the great forum suggestions. A bigger B-side makes for more of a switch up to the Concert which I liked. Again, the idea is to slip these versions in and out of their respective places in the set lists. I've edited the intro/outros to these so they transition well into the concert. F13b was an attempt at mimicking F13a, I think they work together; sorta how they do in the '77 LA Concerts. The rest are either fully detailed above or are referenced only by their concert name as they provided many songs for this project. These are noted and referenced below. Whisky A Go Go - LA Jan 5, 1969 Fillmore West - San Francisco April 27, 1969 Texas Pop Festival - Dallas August 31, 1969 Royal Albert Hall - London Jan 9, 1970 Live On Blueberry Hill - Inglewood, September 4, 1970 Osaka - September 29, 1971 Earls Court - London, May 25, 1975 Snow Job - Vancouver March 19, 1975 Destroyer - Cleveland April 27, 1977 LA Forum Concerts '77 LA Show 1 - June 21, Listen To This Eddie '77 LA Show 3 - June 23 '77 LA Show 4 - June 25 '77 LA Show 5 - June 26 '77 LA Show 6 - June 27 Last Concert - Berlin July 7, 1980 As best I can tell, these songs were never performed live by Led Zeppelin. Some had rehearsals or soundchecks, but nothing of any real live performance or complete song. Boogie with Stu Candy Store Rock Carouselambra - Some rough soundchecks Custard Pie Down by the Seaside D'yer Mak'er – Sampled but never performed Fool in the Rain Hats Off to (Roy) Harper Hots On for Nowhere Houses of the Holy I'm Gonna Crawl In the Light Living Loving Maid Night Flight – Never performed, only a soundcheck Royal Orleans South Bound Suarez Tea for One The Rover – Sampled in '77 concerts but never fully performed My research into this project focused on their legacy concerts and recommendations in the Forum from you folks. I didn't listen to or go through all of their live material but I feel this collection of songs is pretty solid though. Don’t like my set list? Take this set list and then make it your own. Remove what you don’t like and put in what ya do. The above should at the very least make a good starting point for ya. I’ve been listening to many versions of all of their songs for over two years now and am still not sick of it. It shows just how solid, creative and variable these guys were. If you do start a project, I strongly recommend good record keeping from day 1. A few versions I didn’t record which concert they were from…it took me forever to figure it all back out. I believe I got it all sorted out, but I guess you'll have to listen to it to find out! DM me and I'll send you the downloadable links. Cheers, Brad
  4. I posted this in the master forum, but with hindsight I think it's better served in this category as it discussed nothing but live songs, haha. ok, lets try this again: This was an effort that was sparked the day of the O2 concert. Zeppelin was going to play a song they’ve never done live before, in any way. Zep fans such as yourself boiled it down to 4 songs, if I recall correctly; when accounting for various reunions etc. This got me wondering how many different live songs do I have in my catalogue. This led to all kinds of discoveries. One of which is just how many songs were not played live in the Bonham years. I believe we were meant to get more, but the ’75, ’77, and ’80 tours were each cut short due to separate tragedies. I believe those tours would have transitioned to include more songs, from the latter albums, as those tours would have progressed. Regardless, of the songs they did perform, I had a poor 2/3, at best. Then I turned to the internet, where I discovered that nearly all of their concerts were available on line, which blew me away. I thought I was going to have to hunt them down in the one record store left in town that might have any bootlegs. I must have been stuck under an internet rock to not have realized what was available this whole time. Regardless, this massive project finally got underway. I started out tracking down my missing live songs. With so much available, this turned into finding the best version of those songs. Then I turned my focus to this project, finding the best version of each live performance they did and make a massive playlist (or mix tape…does anyone else still listen to those?). This morphed into a huge endeavor that grew a life of it’s own and became a massive best of “concert”. While best means something different to each fan here, I tried to focus on sound quality over anything else…which thankfully still leaves a lot! Then I focused on the best version of. My search also dug up a lot of non-studio songs they only performed live. I assume they were all covers, like Blueberry Hill, but some I’ve never heard at all. So I collected those along the way and picked up over 20 songs, which are included in this “concert”. I like the historical accuracy of including them; because it’s something they did do a lot live. Not to mention it makes this concert longer. And who doesn’t want an epically long Zeppelin concert? Well, maybe not the fans at Knebworth (who apparently waited outdoors for a very long time to see all the concerts), but probably the rest of us. Some cover songs I dropped were either poor in quality or I just didn’t like them. The good covers also increased the song variety and further break up multiple versions of some of their best stuff. I mean, how does one decide that TSRTS Stairway is so much better than the '77 LA Forum Stairways as to cut one over the other? I couldn’t do it, so several versions of a few songs made the cut, as they differ so much. SIBLY, WLL, CB, HMMT, and Heartbreaker show up a few times, so these ~20 cover tunes keeps it from sounding too repetitive as well. Because of quality, a lot of the performances below are from the official releases: Olympia, BBC Sessions, HTWWW, TSRTS, and even a few from Celebration Day. Familiarity of my old CD boots has influenced this as well, so some concerts' songs show up more; I make no apologies, haha. I really want this full, best of “Concert” to be a charge to listen to, from start to end. And in the end it’s just shy of 15 hours! When I set out to assemble the set list, I didn’t intend on it being chronological, but it mostly morphed that way. The early stuff just sounds better amongst itself. Ditto that the mid years and then the latter years. There are exceptions throughout, heck, the whole set list starts off in the O2 Arena. But if it’s one thing I’ve learned about Zeppelin is they cannot fit into any one box. There is no rule that defines this band. They were just too creative to make any logistic sense out of them. Which is what makes them the best rock ARTists I’ve ever heard. One problem, I found the ‘best’ versions tended to be played in the later years. So there are things that appear out of order, so again, try to no think of this as a chronological set list. Example, in the Set B Dazed melodies The Crunge, which wasn’t even created yet….or was it? Heck, half of Physical Graffiti was made during their early concert touring years, but just didn’t fit other albums, so hopefully this isn’t too painful for ya. But really, this was a function of picking the best of versions and then evenly distributing them amongst the whole; which ended up being 109 songs! This took me roughly a year to pull off, and even still I didn’t digest all of the material. I covered their well known or best live concerts. I’ve scoured many "best of" posts or recommendations on this Forum. I took feedback from my first cut at this about 6 months ago. I’d also like to give a big shout out to Mike Fry [check out his 50th Anniversary Box Set post as well as many others] who’s done some pretty cool Zep stuff. A solid portion of the tunes below have his finger print on them in one way or another, from song recommendations to having better quality version than I had to even the editing app Audacity. I can definitely say this project would not have been nearly as good without his assistance! This site makes people, literally, across the world become cool Zep allies! I ended up breaking down the 109 song set list into 7 different sets; each set I tried to have listen as a mini concert within the whole massive concert. This wasn’t easy, and there were many musical struggles along the way. I had to compromise one cool version over another, and had to get creative doing so. To minimize some repeated songs I created B Sides to some songs and combos for others. I tried to edit everything as best I could so one song blends to the next as though you were actually listening to a fluid concert. Hopefully you’ll like a few of the hidden gems I threw in, here and there, along the way. I also took quite a few liberties with WLL that you’ll either like or hate me for. All of this is explained in each set below. Set G is much longer than the others. I couldn’t make it work as separate sets, the flow wasn’t there. So this massive concert suitably finishes off with a massive final set. I’ve referenced where each song comes from. Most of these songs are from the CD releases or from a dozen of their better overall shows; these are referenced by concert name or CD acronym. The remainder are referenced directly. Hopefully this is easy to follow. Each mini set has a bit of a descriptor of it’s songs. Enjoy! Set A Most of this set is targeted at songs created in 1968-69. Some of the better versions included here were played later on though. And some songs seemed to fit well in Set A too, which happens throughout all of these sets. Again, this wasn't supposed to be chronological, it just mostly ended up this way. Try not to get too fixated on the song year being out of place, otherwise this whole thing might drive you bonkers, haha. I also cut A13 down to mostly just the melodies for two reasons. Firstly, the 'studio' part of WLL was of poor quality, but the melodies were in much better condition…and just sounds cool. Secondly, there is a lot of WLL influence throughout this whole project (no surprise as it influenced nearly all of their concerts) so I didn’t feel too guilty cutting it off, knowing it comes back several times elsewhere. A1 Good Times Bad Times – Celebration Day A2 I Can't Quit You Baby – Live At Olympia CD A3 The Train Kept A Rollin’ – Texas Pop Festival A4 I Gotta Move – Stockholm March 14, 1969 A5 Sitting And Thinking – Fillmore West A6 As Long As I Have You - Fillmore West A7 White Summer/Black Mountain Side – Live At Olympia CD A8 Killing Floor/Lemon Song – Fillmore West A9 Pat’s Delight – Fillmore West A10 The Girl She Got Long Brown Wavy Hair – BBC Sessions CD A11 Babe I'm Gonna Leave You – Whiskey A Go Go A12 Your Time Is Gonna Come, WLL excerpt - Tokyo Sep 24, 1971 A13 WLL Melodies - Osaka A14 You Shook Me – Live At Olympia CD A15 How Many More Times – Fillmore West A16 Communication Breakdown – Live On Blueberry Hill Set B This set is aiming towards 1970 songs. I didn’t mean for a lot of consecutive concert songs to be presented here together, it sort of happened that way organically. B5,6,7,8 then B12,13, ditto B15,16. I just started arranging them together and eventually realized they're from the same moment in time. Happy coincidences I guess. B1 We’re Gonna Groove – Royal Albert Hall B2 C’mon Everybody – Royal Albert Hall B3 The Girl Can’t Help It – New York, evening Sept 19, 1970 B4 Something Else – BBC Sessions CD B5 Out on the Tiles – Live On Blueberry Hill B6 Bron-Yr-Aur – Live On Blueberry Hill B7 Since I've Been Loving You – Live On Blueberry Hill B8 Organ Solo – Live On Blueberry Hill B9 Thank You – BBC Sessions CD B10 Ramble On – Celebration Day B11 What Is and What Should Never Be – BBC Sessions CD B12 Bring It On Home – HTWWW CD B13 Dazed and Confused – HTWWW CD B14 Heartbreaker – Earls Court B15 Whole Lotta Love – Live on Blueberry Hill B16 Blueberry Hill – Live On Blueberry Hill Set C In this somewhat 1971 set I did another WLL melodies. The first part of WLL HTWWW was very similar to TSRTS and others, so I cut it and focused on the material that was totally new, knowing what was cut would show up it the other sets. I wanted to not have WLL in every set list as to not get too sick of it, or to let it overshadow the play time from the other shorter songs. Please keep in mind, this thing was 18+ hrs at one point, so some things did have to go. C1 Immigrant Song – HTWWW CD C2 Celebration Day – TSRTS CD (original) C3 Long Tall Sally – Royal Albert Hall C4 The Lemon Song – Whisky A Go Go C5 Friends – Osaka September 29, 1971 C6 That's the Way – HTWWW CD C7 Gallows Pole – Copenhagen May 3, 1971 C8 Four Sticks – Copenhagen May 3,1971 C9 WLL Excerpt – HTWWW CD, Cut ~10 mins, starts w Millionaire C10 Stairway to Heaven – TSRTS CD (original) C11 How Many More Times – Texas Pop Festival Set D This is sort of a 1972 set that begins to transition into 1973. Note, the some songs were seldom played live, so good sound quality or cool versions don't exist, but to me they are still a must have for this project. D6 is one of those cases. This set has the first B Side song. This only occurs three times in this overall best of ‘concert’. It was a way I could reduce the song repetition, while not entirely throwing a song away. The idea is, sometimes listen to the overall Concert as shown. Switch it up other times by swapping out D5a with D5b. I’ve edited them to flow with their sets, so you can just slip the B Sides in or out as you please. D1 Communication Breakdown – BBC CD D2 Dancing Days – HTWWW CD D3 Money – Frankfurt June 30, 1980 D4 Louie Louie – HTWWW bootleg LA June 25, 1972 D5a Over the Hills and Far Away – Snow Job D6 Black Country Woman – Seattle June 19, 1972 D7 Bron-Y-Aur Stomp – Destroyer D8 Travelling Riverside Blues – BBC Sessions CD D9 Misty Mountain Hop – TSRTS CD (2007) D10 Since I've Been Loving You – TSRTS CD (2007) D11 Stand By Me – Osaka Oct 9 1972 D12 Rock and Roll – HTWWW CD Set E The songs I had amalgamated for this set started to eerily look a bit like the 1973 TSRTS, so I went with it. I think E5 is the only real exception, otherwise it somewhat follows the order of the original NYC set list. While D12 finishes off Set D, it helps blend into the start of Set E being the concert opener in ’73. E9 has another B Side. The 1973 WLLs were very good, in my opinion. I just couldn’t delete E9b, but again, had to reduce the WLLs; I had around 10 really good versions at one point. And this was after cutting a bunch. E1 Black Dog – HTWWW CD E2 The Song Remains the Same – TSRTS CD (original) E3 The Rain Song – TSRTS CD (original) E4 No Quarter – Snow Job E5 The Crunge – WLL excerpt Dallas Mar 5, 1975 E6 Dazed and Confused – TSRTS CD (original) E7 Stairway to Heaven – Last Concert E8 Moby Dick – HTWWW CD E9A Whole Lotta Love – Detroit July 13, 1973 E10 The Ocean – HTWWW CD E11 Thank You – NYC July 27, 1973 Set F This is aimed at songs that were played or existed in some way in 1975 and is attempted to feature Physical Graffiti a bit. F6 and F10 are excellent versions provided by Mike Fry, really cool listens. I added a small touch to F10, hopefully it's not noticed, which would mean I blended it well. There’s a lot of songs, and each version tends to be long, culminating in a nearly four and a half hour grand finale! The last B Side is here with G26. So many good versions of Trampled, I just wish they played it earlier on so I could have added G26b elsewhere in the set list; but it just doesn’t jive with the early stuff, so B Side it is. Set G originally was a 1977 set and the 'Set H' was their latter years. Not only did I have set list flow problems, but Sets G&H were almost the same as they didn't really add a lot of new material in 1979/80; likely because so few concerts were actually played. So I scrapped Set H and squished a lot into the now bigger Set G, which I find is a much better listen. A note on NQ; This is such an artsy concert song, that at a first listen, almost every version sounds unique, which did not make this song easy on me. I literally listened to about 12 NQ versions, multiple times over, for a week straight. And at ~30 mins each, that was an undertaking, haha. Surprisingly, I did start to hear faint similar themes in some of the versions, so I was able to reduce it finally to the few that made this Concert. I also ended up merging two versions together. Firstly it cut down the overall NQ playing time in this already 15 hr concert. But secondly, the start of my June 11 version is cut off (I later found the full recording). So merging it with the first half of Destroyers NQ and finishing it off with the June 11 show worked really well, I felt. This was another way I could reduce the repeat occurrences of NQ while keeping the creativity of the each. For similar reasons, I did this with Stairway as well in this set, I hope you like this what I did here too. A note on WLL; Firstly, there’s 2 versions in this set. But the 1980 version is so different, that G13 and G27 are hardly the same song…and I spaced them out by over 2 hrs, so I hope it’s not too much WLL. Lastly, I had another version of The Crunge in my pile of songs I liked, but had no place left for it to go. So I decided to extend WLL by adding it to the Crunge portion of the song. I don’t expect most will like this, but it is nice to have the final song of the long final set of this massive concert to be a bit longer than just 14 minutes. If I get more cool version ideas from you all, I will likely extend the B Sides, but we'll see how this goes. I do hope this post takes off a bit in this forum and I get a lot of constructive responses. I may add a really cool Youtube We're Gonna Groove version to the B Sides if I can get around to it. If I get enough feedback, I may make a Take 3. Hopefully this collection is pretty solid though, it represents over a year of effort. Don’t like my set list? Take this set list and then make it your own. Remove what you don’t like and put in what ya do. The above should at the very least make a very good starting point for ya. Overall, as I’ve been listening to these versions (amongst many, many others) for over a year now, I am STILL not sick of it. Man, this band is just too good. If you start a project, I strongly recommend good record keeping from day 1. A few versions I didn’t record which concert they were from…it took me forever to figure it all back out. It wouldn’t surprise me if there’s still 1 or 2 errors up there. But I guess you'll have to listen to it to find out! DM me and I'll send you the downloadable links. Cheers, Brad
  5. This was an effort that was sparked the day of the O2 concert. 6. Hey folks, Wondering if anyone here has any knowledge of this Earls Court set? I can't seem to find much information about it online aside from two conflicting pieces of information that indicate its a Bootleg of either 75 or 300 copies depending on which you believe. Does anyone know anything more about its origin or how rare it really is? My father in law gave it to me to add to my collection and had it from his deceased brother, he knows nothing about it other than it was bought in Vancouver in the 80's. It looks as it they've never been played to be honest. Cheers!
  7. Ive been able to figure out a good portion of the how many more times danmarks solo, but am having trouble figuring whats going on when the two separate times he is using the same formation but flying up and down the neck.
  8. I’m open to feedback on this project of mine. The foundation of it is shown below, however, I still have some work to do on it and nothing is cemented in yet. So I’d like some feedback from the wizards of this site. What started as a curios “Do I have all of their live songs?”, has turned into a quest to create a best of, massive Led Zeppelin “concert” of each of their live performed songs. For now, I’ve listed my cut of their best live performances in alpha order below. I’d like to thanks Bonzo_fan (Ranking the 1977 Shows, and 1975 shows, and...), Michael Fry (50th Anniversary Box Set), and also everyone who chimed in on their posts. I’ve dug into a lot of concerts and songs you all have specifically mentions as being good. They’ve influenced this best of compilation. Ok, I “ramble on” a lot, so feel free to skip these next paragraphs and just go straight to the songs. I was surprised by a few findings. One, I first appeared to be missing roughly 30 live songs in my CD catalogue, between the official releases and my few boots. Two, most of their latter 3 albums were never performed; oh the humanity!! (sorry for that, but it is a musical tragedy) Three, some songs were only ever done once. And four, a handful of songs were only done for ~5ish gigs (Levee, Wonton, etc) or were only ever partially played (Crunge, Rover, etc). In the end I was only missing 14 live performances from my collection. We truly are in a great digital era, where nearly every Zep concert is searchable on line. I was quite shocked to be honest. I mean, in 1968, why would someone record a fan based or soundboard based Zeppelin concert? You wouldn’t know these guys were going to pan out. And it’s not like it would have been easy either. Technology was so big and clunky, I mean how did you even do it discretely? Regardless, I’m thankful. My search also dug up a lot of non-Zep songs they only performed live. I assume they were all covers, but maybe some were Zeppelin revitalized songs, like most of the first album. Who knows? But like any legit fan, I collected those along the way. I’m sure I didn’t get them all, but I picked up over 20 songs, which I intend on including in this “concert”. I think I like the historical accuracy by including them; because it’s something they did do a lot live. Not to mention it makes my “concert” longer. Who doesn’t want an epically long Zeppelin concert? Well, maybe not the fans at Knebworth (who apparently waited outdoors for a very long time to see all the concerts), but definitely the rest of us. They will also increase the song variety, as I couldn’t tear myself away from including multiple versions of some of my fav songs. How does one decide that TSRTS Stairway is much better than Destroyer’s Stairway, or Eddie Listen Stairway? I couldn’t do it, so they’ll all make the cut, as they differ so much. The same will go for various versions of SIBLY, WLL, CB, HMMT, and Heartbreaker for sure. So these ~20 cover tunes will keep the variety going. Including some of the different versions noted above, this “concert” is going to be big. It’s verging on over 90 songs and will be well over 5 hours long. So I'm going to organize it into three "acts". They won't necessarily be in chronological order, but Act 1 will have more earlier material with Act 3 being a bit later. Each act will sort of start like each of their concerts (if I can) with 1,2,3, punches, have ~2 encores, and be filled with one of the multiple versions (STH, WLL, SIBLY, etc. ) I couldn't bear to cut. And like I said, to prevent them from getting too repetitive, each Act will be filled in with those ~20 cover songs. I'm hoping it’ll result in a great listen with a lot of rockin ups and some bluesy downs! After reviewing a lot of boots, I appear to be drawn to sound quality first, then the best version. As a result, a lot of the performances below are from the official releases: BBC Sessions, HTWWW, TSRTS, and Celebration Day. Familiarity has skewed me as well, so a lot of performances from 1977s Destroyer have made the cut. I’m not incl practices as they’ve never sounded that great to me, such as Night Flight (which sucks as I was really looking fwd to finding that one live). I really want this full, best of “Concert” to be a charge to listen to, from start to end. (note, proper concert dates are referenced below) Achilles Last Stand – Destroyer All My Love – Last Concert As Long As I Have You (extra) – Fillmore West Apr ‘69. Why did this song not get put to the studio? A serious treat of a find. Not in their top 25 or anything, but a great mid range song Babe I'm Gonna Leave You – Whisky A Go Go Black Country Woman – Destroyer Black Dog – HTWWW CD Blueberry Hill (extra) – Live On Blueberry Hill Bring It On Home – HTWWW CD Bron-Y-Aur Stomp – Destroyer Bron-Yr-Aur – Live On Blueberry Hill Celebration Day – TSRTS CD (original) C’mon Everybody (extra) – 1970, possibly Jan 9. I lost track of the source of some songs Communication Breakdown – BBC Sessions CD, Live On Blueberry Hill and Earls Court Dancing Days – HTWWW CD Dazed and Confused – HTWWW CD and TSRTS CD (original) For Your Life – O2 Arena For Your Love (extra) – Fillmore West Jan ‘69 Four Sticks – Copenhagen 1971 Friends – Osaka 1971 Gallows Pole – Copenhagen 1971 Going to California – Destroyer Good Times Bad Times – O2 Arena, I love the very opening riff more than any other. Heartbreaker – HTWWW CD, – TSRTS CD (2007), Earls Court and Osaka 1971 Hot Dog – Last Concert How Many More Times – BBC Sessions CD, Texas Pop Festival I Can't Quit You Baby – Texas Pop Festival I Gotta Move (extra) – Stockholm March 14, 1969 Immigrant Song – HTWWW CD I’m Talking About You (extra) – New York, evening 1970 In My Time of Dying – Snow Job In the Evening – Last Concert It’ll Be Me (extra) – Inglewood June 26, 1977 Kashmir – Destroyer, Snow Job Long Tall Sally (extra) – London Jan 9, 1970 Louie Louie (extra) – HTWWW bootleg LA June 25, 1972 Misty Mountain Hop – TSRTS CD (2007) Moby Dick – HTWWW CD, TSRTS CD (original) Mystery Train (extra) – San Diego June 19, 1977 Nobody's Fault but Mine – Destroyer No Quarter – Earls Court, Destroyer Organ Solo (extra) – Live On Blueberry Hill Out on the Tiles – Live On Blueberry Hill Over the Hills and Far Away – Snow Job Over The Top (extra) – Destroyer – Starts with Out On The Tiles intro Pat’s Delight (extra) – Fillmore West Apr ‘69 Please Please Me/From Me To You (extra) – Osaka September 28, 1971 Ramble On – O2 Arena. Did Zep played this in the 70s? Page & Plant in the ‘90s yes, but Zep? Not that I could find. Rock and Roll – Destroyer Sick Again – Snow Job Since I've Been Loving You – Live On Blueberry Hill, TSRTS CD (2007) and their Last Concert Sitting And Thinking (extra) – Fillmore West Apr ‘69 Something Else (extra..kinda) – BBC Sessions CD Stairway to Heaven – TSRTS CD (original), Destroyer, Eddie Listen LA June 23, 1977 and Last Concert Tangerine – Earls Court Ten Years Gone – Destroyer Thank You – BBC Sessions CD That’s Alright Mama (extra) – LA June 26, 1977 That's the Way – HTWWW CD The Battle of Evermore – Destroyer The Crunge – No idea where I got this performance. Someone separated this out from a WLL combo. But quite a bit of the song is here, the most I’ve seen, with a lot of vocals too. The Girl Can’t Help It (extra) – New York, evening 1970 The Girl She Got Long Brown Wavy Hair (extra..kinda) – BBC Sessions CD The Lemon Song/Killing Floor – Fillmore West Apr ‘69 and Whisky A Go Go The Ocean – HTWWW CD The Rain Song – TSRTS CD (original) – The way this version blends right after the actual song TSRTS is like nothing else. If this happened on other concerts, I would consider other versions. But until then, this version is too good they way they work together. The Song Remains the Same – TSRTS CD (original) – See the Rain Song comments The Train Kept A Rollin’ (extra) – Texas Pop Festival – One of the more clear recordings I could find. I’ve decided this song always sounds muzzled. I’m convinced no band can make it sound crisp. At Texas Pop, it’s not bad, but otherwise this song (even when sung by Aerosmith) just sucks. Was this ever good in a live concert?..when you would hear it as clear as possible? Who knows. The Wanton Song – Chicago January 20, 1975. Trampled Under Foot – Destroyer, Earls Court. Travelling Riverside Blues (extra..kinda) – BBC Sessions CD Twenty Flight Rock (extra) – New York, evening 1970 We’re Gonna Groove – 1970, possibly Jan 9 We Shall Over Come (extra) – Osaka September 28, 1971 What Is and What Should Never Be – BBC Sessions CD When the Levee Breaks – Chicago January 20, 1975 White Summer/Black Mountain Side – Last Concert Whole Lotta Love – TSRTS CD (original), Live on Blueberry Hill, Last Concert, and Osaka which is the only exception to my quality first rule. Fun version, but the quality stinks. Oddly enough the melodies are in much better quality than the main song itself…I might try dissecting just the melodies and sticking them in somewhere in my “concert” as I have too many WLLs in here as it is. You Shook Me – Fillmore West Jan ‘69 So that’s my list. I am in the midst of cross referencing these songs vs 1973 Providence and 1977 Listen to this Eddie as they have good sound quality and are great concerts. But if you have any suggestions for better versions, I’m all ears. Reference Concerts (not incl official releases) Whisky A Go Go, LA Jan 5, 1969 Fillmore West San Francisco January 10, 1969 Fillmore West San Francisco April 27, 1969 Texas Pop Festival, Dallas August 31, 1969 Live On Blueberry Hill, Inglewood, September 4, 1970 New York, evening show of September 19, 1970 Copenhagen May 3, 1971 Osaka September 29, 1971 Earls Court 1975 Snow Job, Vancouver March 19, 1975 Destroyer, Cleveland April 27, 1977 Last Concert, Berlin July 7, 1980 O2 Arena, December 10, 2007 As best I can tell, these songs were never performed live by Led Zeppelin. I’m kinda hoping someone will show me a rare performance. Boogie with Stu Candy Store Rock Carouselambra Custard Pie Down by the Seaside D'yer Mak'er Fool in the Rain Hats Off to (Roy) Harper Houses of the Holy Hots On for Nowhere I'm Gonna Crawl In the Light Living Loving Maid Night Flight Royal Orleans South Bound Saurez Tea for One The Rover Your Time Is Gonna Come Songs noted as (extra) are not on any studio albums…kinda. It’s hard to classify some songs. Travelling Riverside Blues? Was it really live? Kinda. Was it on any studio albums? Kinda. Honestly, I nearly cut this one. But I like it, so I included it. I’ve concluded long ago that you cannot really classify Led Zeppelin. They were too creative. They don’t fit into any one box, and a song like Riverside is an example of that. Got any favorite versions of their live performances? That are also of good quality? I’d love to hear of them.
  9. Anyone seen this before (pics attached)? It’s a white vinyl, picture disc with live STH on one side and live Heartbreaker on the other. It sounds like the same recordings that are on BBC Sessions. BUT, I bought this at a record show circa 1982, decades before the BBC record was released. (I think.) I looked online and could not find any other evidence of its existence. Any idea where this came from, how rare it is, etc.? I’m mostly just curious. Thanks
  10. Hey all, first post here so you're welcome to shout at me for making dumb mistakes but I want to know what your favorite performance of How Many More Times is, it's my favorite Zep song(making it my all time favorite song) and it's always brilliant live. My favorite version of it is probably from 3-17-69 in denmark but I'd be interested in what you think! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSIS0o7vtPE
  11. Does anyone know why there are only three soundboard tracks from Long Beach '72 and their history? What Is And What Should Never Be, Dancing Days and Moby Dick. IMO, they sound better than any other unofficial board tapes, including any from 73,75,77. They are crystal clear and have a great sense of space that most boards don't have. I love the unprocessed sound way more than HTWWW. Are these multi tracks that sneaked out while HTWWW was being put together? It's interesting that these are the only known board tracks from '72 and they are so damn great sounding. Hoping some of the very knowledgable folks here can comment on this.
  12. So I've been inspired by the ongoing Metallica Deluxe Edition series (which features the original album, riff tapes, demo tapes, rough mixes, and about 3-6 concerts per album). This got me thinking: which concerts could go into a Led Zeppelin version of this? This is what I have so far (official albums or parts of album are in bold, projects I've done that would be included are underlined, general concerts that needs specification are in italics) Led Zeppelin: Gladsaxe '69, Paris '69, misc. BBC '69 Led Zeppelin II: RAH '70 Led Zeppelin III: Led Zeppelin IV: BBC '71, Japan '71, UK '71, Australasia '72?, LA '72 Houses of the Holy: Japan '72, UK '72/'73, Euro '73, NYC '73 Physical Graffiti: Chicago '75?, Baton Rouge '75, Seattle '75, Earl's Court '75 Presence: Landover '77, Seattle '77, In Through the Out Door: Knebworth '79, Berlin '80 I'm shooting for 5-7 concerts for LZ1, LZ2, LZ4, HotH; 2-3 for LZ3; 3-5 for P.G. Presence and ITtOD. Concerts can be conglomerated in multiple nights like How the West Was Won and The Song Remains the Same or like my Earls Court '75 and Landover '77 videos on my YouTube. Tour eras I'm shooting for: Led Zeppelin I: Scandinavia '68 to North America Summer '69 Led Zeppelin II: European Autumn '69 to N.A. Spring '70 Led Zeppelin III: Iceland, Bath, & German '70 & N.A. Summer '70 Led Zeppelin IV: UK Spring '71 to N.A. '72 Houses of the Holy: Japan '72 to N.A. '73 Physical Graffiti: N.A. '75 & Earl's Court '75 Presence: North America 1977 In Through the Out Door: Copenhagen 1979 to Europe 1980 (Coda: '85, '88, '95, & '07)
  13. Other than the 6 shows from NY and the 6 shows from LA, what dates are considered "peak performance" on this tour? I've been meaning to listen to more of 1977, other than NY and LA (and also excluding Landover, which I attempted to combine into a single better show). There are A LOT of shows on this tour, so I'm curious. My question is only based on the performance of the band, not the sound quality (I can listen to rough audience recordings).
  14. Newbie here! If someone could tell me which show this photo was taken or what tour exactly ? (would be super rad) i'm not sure if it's from 73 or 72, and if someone adds more photos from this show i would gladly appreciate it.
  15. So I settled the debate of which night is better, August 4th and August 11th. The answer is both! I took the two nights and merged them into a sort of "Super Knebworth" show. I put countless hours into this. I think it came out as good as I could make it! I'll have details of what is played on what night in the video description at a date in the near future.
  16. I'm trying to gather shows from all tours and showcase them as a sort of "what if there were 4 to 6 concerts on each deluxe edition release." I'm having a bit of trouble picking a night for this tour. This would be attached to Led Zeppelin II. More info on my project here. Quality of the concert aside, what are your favorites from tour?
  17. I'm trying to find ideas for conglomerating concerts (see my YouTube channel for two concerts I've already done.) After I do Knebworth '79, I'm thinking of doing the first Boston Tea Party run in January '69. There are 2 definitive dates to mix from, 1/23 and 1/26. The issue I'm running into concerns this concert: Is it January 25, 1969? OR May 27, 1969? When searching both dates, the same concert comes up. Led Zeppelin's official website seems to point to the January 25th, but other Zep Heads seem to suggest it is from May 27th. I'm not well versed in their early shows (I find myself listening to later Zeppelin more often than not,) so if I could get some opinions on this matter, it would be much appreciated!
