  1. Sharing a little video teaser of The Violution's cover of "Stairway to Heaven" with only electric violin, bass and drums. Enjoy (FYI No guitars were used in the recording of this track.) www.theviolution.com
  2. First time/long time. Zep fan since '85 when I saw them on MTV for Live Aid (not their best, I know, but a great "what is all the fuss about?" intro for a 13 year old). My aunt was a huge fan, turned me on to all the albums, took me to see the Outrider tour and Plant's "Now and Zen" tour (with Joan Jett opening!). Later, I saw Page/Plant at the Alamodome in San Antonio, and have seen Plant again since while he was a resident here in Austin. Anyway, getting back into Page era stuff post-Zep, pre-Page/Plant lately. Downloaded The Firm's first album from iTunes (used to have the tape) and pulled out my old Coverdale/Page CD. Some REALLY great tracks on those. I also think Coverdale/Page was his best STUDIO guitar playing since Zeppelin. I gave another listen to "Outrider"....not as good as the other stuff from '84-'94, but a couple nice pieces on there. Really sounds like another Firm album in places, which LED me to wonder the timeline of the compositions post-Zep. The Outrider Wiki states it would have been a double album had it not been for the home break in that transpired. Anybody have any more details on that break in, what kind of stuff (besides demos for Outrider, obviously) was taken, timeline of the compositions for ALL of the '84 - '94 work? I know he tends to write stuff and marinate on it for quite a bit. Looking forward to a new Page solo album in the (hopefully very near) future. Thanks for having me.
  3. Outrider opinions

I personally like Outrider I think has more of Jimmy's hard rock and bluesy feel. Unlike some of Robert's later projects. (I enjoy Robert's solo career as well)
  4. How does Jimmy play the harmonic portion towards the beginning of his bow solo during this concert? This is the part immediately preceding the slapback echo portion. He appears to start with a 12th-fret harmonic and then pull-offs beginning at higher frets, making a really fascinating, unexplainable sound. I'm guessing the sound results from a combination of cranked tube amp harmonics, and help from his tape delay and room echo. Has anyone recreated this sound? I've never even heard Page do it again in any other concerts.
  5. Deluxe editions etc

Wondering if Jp could produce some "deluxe editions" of The Firm and Outrider. That would be awesome
  6. Hi guys, i made a cover of the guitar solo to stairway to heaven from the song remains the same dvd. Let me know what you think.
  7. the amazing "BLAST OFF" part of the solo in "IN THE EVENING" sO unique, original, perfect for the song! Id like to hear some feedback on it: -what musicians thought of it first X hearing it -Page & Plant tour= someX's PAGE did play that part ,it was hard live ,however somewhere on Utube i DID see him "pull it off" live! One X in particular LIVE he REALLY NAILED IT! can someone share THAT link? or any other versions audio or video ?
  8. I am curious of your opinions on Jimmy Page's best solo(s).
  9. I love the, for lack of a better term the '50's feel to the outro solo on the studio version of The Ocean. Did Page ever try to recreate that solo or one with a similar feel live? None of the versions I've listened to have. Thanks in advance.
  10. Solo guitar cover

Would you kindly check out my recent cover? Thanks guys!
  11. Stairway To Heaven Solo; TSRTS

I have an inkling that the extended solo played by Jimmy Page in Stairway To Heaven from The Song Remains The Same film, might be a combination of the three solos that Jimmy first composed for the Stairway To Heaven in the studio. Is this possible?
  12. Hi all, I've been getting into transcribing some of JPJ's solo stuff recently, the guy is my absolute hero on the bass and figured it was about time someone deciphered his solo stuff - so here's my interpretation on his groovy, improvised solo on 'Bass N Drums' taken from Zooma... figured this, a Zep forum, would be as good a place as any to share it! Planning on putting a few more up in the future too. Hope you enjoy and feel free to share it wherever if it does indeed tickle your fancy?! Check it out, let me know what ye reckons... Big love to JPJ. Cheers, S.
  13. In terms of the music produced who do you think had the best solo career post Led Zeppelin.
  14. At 2:22 in the song after the tempo changes, I believe I hear a bit from the guitar solo on Stairway, the A Minor Pentatonic. Does anybody else hear this or am I crazy?
  15. Hey guys!As Led Zeppelin fans that you are I´d like to share with you one of my covers. I tried to do my best on this one!and remember it is a cover!it is not perfect! Thanks to Mr.Page for this masterpiece. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJb2GiOUfxM
  16. When Jimmy Page was recording the guitar solo for Stairway to Heaven, there were three takes, one of which is the one on the album. Does anyone know where I can find audio of the other two solos? It would be interesting to hear how the the solo evolved. Also, any other Stairway to Heaven rehearsals or outtakes would be appreciated.
  17. I decided to make a video for Pagey'z birthday the other day, and I know I went with the obvious choice, but even though everyone haz heard Stairway a million timez, there'z a reazon for it, and the reazon iz that it'z freakin' phenomenal! Anywho, here she blowz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qfqiy9S5I70 GET THE LED OUT! -Ray Flanagan
