THIS JUST IN!

Washington Times, August 21st, 2011

Led Zeppelin plans Austrailian tour for 2012 to celebrate the Down Under tour in 1972.

They will play the exact venues and dates they played in just like the original 1972 tour. The Austrailian members of the Led Zeppelin forum get free tickets.

A press conference with Page and Plant at the Hyatt House "Riot House" was held a few days ago.

Reporter: Why did you decide to do a tour around Austrailia?

Page: A few days ago, I was watching video footage of us in Sydney in 1972. I never realized how great our crowd was.

Reporter: Why are you doing the same venues and dates like in 1972?

Plant: We came to Sydney, we had a great time at the shows, the crowd was astounding, to keep the old vibe going, we're also using the same setlist!

Reporter: Will you be doing celebrations of future tours like this?

Page: We have plans of recreating the TSRTS setlist at 3 nights at the Garden (same dates too) in 2013. Do not expect me in a dragon suit! *laughs*

Reporter: Do you have any plans for more tours?

Plant: Not at the moment. We are taking a break after the Austrailia tour, we've been touring non stop for 3 years!

Reporter: Why does the Led Zeppelin Forum members from Austrailia get free tickets?

Page: The community there is the most loyal of our fans, the member "ledzepfilm" has astounding video footage on his channel! They pay attention to all of the details, they are a great group of fans.

Reporter: Anything else you boys want to add?

Page: I have to thank each and every one of our fans for staying loyal to us and buying tickets to watch us perform! We try to make every night better than the first one!

Plant: I never realized how successful Led Zeppelin reuniting would be! I thought I couldn't do it, we're holding up strong, we dedicate every show to Mr. John Henry Bonham. He is still in our hearts, drumming in heaven to huge crowds, hearing us down below!

Zeppelin Flies Again!?

A "reliable" source "close" to the band hinted that the Australian members would be flown to all of the cities courtesy of a local company sponsoring the tour and pledging support for the band's charities.

Further updates on this unconfirmed rumour as they come to hand.

Recently released 8mm home video of Led Zeppelin in Hiroshima has apparently inspired the band to add that city to their itinerary.

To say there is electricity in the air is an understatement! Their return to Hiroshima is sure to be a highlight on the upcoming tour for many, but especially for me as I've just signed an agreement securing my girlfriend, Yuko Oshima, as the Master of Ceremonies. She's going to be escorted to the venue in a horse-drawn carriage with Jimmy serving as one of the Outriders. This is such an awesome opportunity for her!

FICTION

The New York Times, December 31st, 2011

With the dawn of the New Year, all four members gathered with 2 unnamed reviewers on their new Boeing 707 named "The Airship". Alot of astounding information has leaked about the band's world tour and Austrailian mini tour.

Reporter 1 interviewed Jimmy and Robert:

Reporter: How do you think your progress has been with this "Reunited Zeppelin" project?

Robert: It was to get the old jig back. I felt floated apart from the other 3 lads, and playing under the name Led Zeppelin brings back old memories.

Reporter: Is the Austrailian tour still on?

Jimmy: Yes. We have changed the idea though, we are going to do the exact dates and venues (except for Aukland, which will be changed to another date in Sydney) but a different setlist.

R: Are you planning on a new DVD release?

RP: We are planning on filming the 2 night strand from Sydney and release it.

R: Any new music in the making?

JP: We've come to the conclusion that the songs we have already written have stuck out more to us than any other attempt for us to write new music.

R: How about this Japan tour?

RP: What Japan tour?

R: Just curious; Jimmy, what does your symbol mean?

JP: Death Wish 2.

2nd report to come on New Years Day.

I just read this entire thread and a lot of great memories came back. It was a great ride (even though it was fiction). I put on my 73 New Orleans CD's while reading this and with the exception of a few people this was a wonderful thread. It's nice to have dreams and to share them with other forum members who have the same passion for their music. Seeing some of the names of those who I wished still posted here more often....I hope that those of you who never got to see them live were able to take a little journey into the excitement that they created. It was all in good fun...and fun it was IMHO.

Thanks ledzepfilm for bringing this back up :toast:

Wow! I just got back from the Auckland concert on the 28th April. A whopping 20 songs were performed, with more than usual from Houses of the Holy to celebrate the album turning 40.

I was so incredibly excited when I arrived. Having no opening act and a long length, I knew these guys would put on a show for us down here tonight. A light accidentally shined on Jimmy just before the performance and we saw him standing with his double neck Gibson, so we all knew what we would start with. The Song Remains the Same was so good. It segued into Celebration Day perfectly, and was the best performance of Celeberation Day I have ever heard. The fast furious intro to Out on the Tiles began, but before we could start singing "as I walked down the highway", Robert went on a tangent and sung "hey hey mama". Black Dog was amazing.

The dirty riff to The Rover started and I expected it to segue into Sick Again as it has done many times, but no! The Rover was displayed in it's full glory. After that came a slightly shorter version of Nobody's Fault but Mine, then an amazing version of Over the Hills and Far Away. Since I've Been Loving You was also a bit shorter, and half the solo was the Tea for One solo instead! No Quarter stuck to a similar length to the album cut but was just as touching as a 25 minute version. Jimmy joked "I wish I didn't write so many songs in different tunings" before he started into the beautiful The Rain Song. JPJ even had his Mellotron on display!

Kashmir was next, and it blew me away. Best version I have ever heard. Trampled Under Foot was good, but that was overshadowed by that familiar descending bass intro to Dazed and Confused. Running around 8 and a half minutes, this included some parts of How Many More Times which made me smile. Robert exclaimed "this is one of Jimmy's favourites and I believe a few bands have copied this song as a guide to their entire music collection" before laughing. Achilles' was up next, and it rocked! Jimmy fooled around with a violin bow for a few minutes before Robert sung "In the eveeeeeeeening". This turned out to be half In the Evening, half Carouselambra. Perfect. The last song for the main set had to be Stairway to Heaven, and a 10 minute version!

The first encore had started off with Rock and Roll. It really showed that Jason had to be John's son, there was no way around it. The crowd went mad when the opening chords to Whole Lotta Love were played, this time there was no theremin solo sadly, but The Crunge was played in it's entirety instead in the medley. The second encore was just as spectacular, with Heartbreaker opening it up. That solo sounds as good in 2013 as it did in 1969 (not that I was born then...). Communication Breakdown was a bit more reserved on Robert's plant, but Jimmy let the guitar speak for everyone. The final song had to be The Ocean, and all four members said the Auckland concert was one of the smaller, but had one of the loudest voices.

The Final Chapter of Led Zeppelin?

Fans expecting to see Page/Plant launch date would now be lucky to see a Page/Plant lunch date

By Cameron Eat Crow

Rolling Stoned Magazine

September 5, 2014

The occasionally rocky relationship between Led Zeppelin front men Jimmy Page and Robert Plant came to a head last night at the grand opening of John Varvatos in London.

It all started innocently enough, when Robert suggested to Jimmy perhaps the reconstituted Led Zeppelin which performed extensively from 2009 to 2013 with John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham should extend their artistic hiatus. When pressed for a reason why, Robert confessed it would be to allow him to release a new album with his original Strange Sensation line up.

Jimmy, caught by surprise, recoiled and exclaimed "The world doesn't need another world music album", to which Robert replied "It doesn't need limited edition Led Zeppelin scarves either". A somewhat heated exchange of words ensued until minders broke up their argument.

The evening ended with Jimmy and Robert leaving in separate motorcades.

FICTION (written by SAJ)

Local archivist Roger Berlin spoke to a crowd of 1.2 Million in Berlin

Curator of the Led Zeppelin Museum in print addressed the world today

by Claudia Schiffer

Der Speigel (Germany)

September 6, 2014

Transcription of Roger Berlin's speech:

Thank you. Thank you, very much.

Michael Cohl, Harvey Goldstein, ladies and gentlemen: Twenty four years ago, Led Zeppelin visited Berlin, and played to the people of this city and the world in a concert hall. Well since then they have returned as solo members, each in his turn to Berlin. And today, I, myself, make another visit to this, my hometown.

I come to Berlin, a Led Zeppelin archivist, because it's my duty to speak in this place of their music. But I must confess, we’re drawn here by other things as well; by the feeling of history in this city -- more than 500 years older than our own nation; by the beauty of the Grunewald and the Tiergarten; most of all, by your courage and determination. Perhaps the composer, Paul Linke, understood something about me. You see, like Led Zeppelin, I come here today because wherever I go, whatever I do: “Ich hab noch einen Koffer in Berlin” [i still have a suitcase in Berlin.]

Our gathering today is being broadcast throughout Western Europe and North America. I understand that it is being seen and heard as well in the East. To those listening throughout Eastern Europe, I extend my warmest greetings and the good will of Led Zeppelin fans. To those listening in East Berlin, a special word: Although I cannot be with you, I address my remarks to you just as surely as to those standing here before me. For I join you, as I join your fellow countrymen in the West, in this firm, this unalterable belief: Es gibt nur ein Berlin. [There is only one Berlin.]

Behind me stood a wall that encircled the free sectors of this city, part of a vast system of barriers that divided the entire continent of Europe. From the Baltic South, those barriers cut across Germany in a gash of barbed wire, concrete, dog runs, and guard towers. Farther south, there may be no visible, no obvious wall. But there remain armed guards and checkpoints all the same -- still a restriction on the right to travel, still an instrument to impose upon ordinary men and women the will of a totalitarian state.

Yet, it is here in Berlin where the wall emerged most clearly; here, cutting across our city, where the news photo and the television screen have imprinted this brutal division of a continent upon the mind of the world.

Standing before the Brandenburg Gate, every man was a German separated from his fellow men.

Every man is a Berliner, forced to look upon a scar.

President Von Weizsäcker once said, "The German question is open as long as the Brandenburg Gate is closed." Well today -- today I say: As long as Led Zeppelin remains disunited as long as the scar of disbandment is permitted to stand, it is not the German question alone that remains open, but the question of hope for all mankind.

Yet, I do not come here to lament. For I find in Berlin a message of hope, even in the shadow of this wall, a message of triumph. Does anyone remember laughter?

In the Reichstag a few moments ago, I saw a display commemorating Cold War Era Berlin. I was struck by a sign -- the sign on a burnt-out, gutted structure that was being rebuilt. I understand that Berliners of my own generation can remember seeing signs like it dotted throughout the western sectors of the city. The sign read simply: "Led Zeppelin Over Europe." A night in Berlin with Led Zeppelin -- that dream became real.

There is one sign the band can now make that would be unmistakable, that would advance dramatically the cause of hope, freedom and peace.

Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, if you seek to further your legacy, if you seek prosperity for the concert promoters and ticket brokers, if you seek another night in concert together, come here to this place.

Mr. Page, open your guitar case.

Mr. Plant -- Mr. Plant, take heed of this call!

One final proposal, one close to my heart: Music represents a source of enjoyment and ennoblement. International music festivals of all kinds could take place in all parts of this city. And what better way to demonstrate to the world the openness of this city than to offer in some future year to hold international music festivals here in Berlin, East and West.

In these four decades, as I have said, us Berliners have built a great city. We've done so in spite of threats -- the Soviet attempts to impose the East-mark, the blockade. Today the city thrives in spite of the challenges implicit in the very presence of what was the wall. What keeps you here? Certainly there's a great deal to be said for our fortitude, for our defiant courage. But I believe there's something deeper, something that involves Berlin's whole look and feel and way of life -- not mere sentiment.

No one could live long in Berlin without being completely disabused of illusions. Something, instead, that has seen the difficulties of life in Berlin but chose to accept them, that continues to build this good and proud city in contrast to a surrounding totalitarian presence, that refuses to release human energies or aspirations, something that speaks with a powerful voice of affirmation, that says "yes" to this city, yes to the future, yes to freedom. In a word, I would submit that what keeps us in Berlin -- is "love."

Love both profound and abiding.

Perhaps this gets to the root of the matter, to the most fundamental distinction of all between East and West. The totalitarian world produces backwardness because it does such violence to the spirit, thwarting the human impulse to create, to enjoy, to worship. The totalitarian world finds even symbols of love and of worship an affront.

Years ago, before the East Germans began rebuilding their churches, they erected a secular structure: the television tower at Alexander Platz. Virtually ever since, the authorities have been working to correct what they view as the tower's one major flaw: treating the glass sphere at the top with paints and chemicals of every kind. Yet even today when the sun strikes that sphere, that sphere that towers over all Berlin, the light makes the sign of the cross. There in Berlin, like the city itself, symbols of love, symbols of worship, cannot be suppressed.

As I looked out a moment ago from the Reichstag, that embodiment of German unity, I noticed words crudely spray-painted upon the wall, perhaps by a young Berliner (quote):

"Led Zeppelin Uber Alles. Beliefs become reality."

Yes, across Europe, Led Zeppelin Uber Alles, for disbandment cannot withstand faith; it cannot withstand truth.

And I would like, before I close, to say one more thing. I wonder if they have ever realized that should they not reform, no one can deny we will still extend towards them our full measure of love and respect, always.

Thank you and God bless you all. Thank you.

Just to add to what Steve has reported via Eat Crow, my source tells me that Jimmy told Robert that he (Robert) would be welcomed as a back-up vocalist/choreographed dancer in Jimmy's band on the soon to be announced tour of Mexico.

To which Robert offered Jimmy a cameo appearance on a couple of songs with SS on tour, as long as he agreed to play cigar box guitar and washboard.
