The Rover
I was thinking the other day about a song that I'd get a kick of hearing Robert cover..... It's the Albert Hammond song made famous by Willie Nelson & Julio Iglesias: To All the Girls I've Loved Before (As Sung by Robert Plant) To all the girls I've loved before Who traveled in and out my door I'm glad they came along I dedicate this song To all the girls I've loved before To all the girls I once caressed And may I say I've held the best For helping me to grow I owe a lot I know To all the girls I've loved before The winds of change are always blowing And every time I try to stay The winds of change continue blowing And they just carry me away To all the girls who shared my life Who now are someone else's wives I'm glad they came along I dedicate this song To all the girls I've loved before To all the girls who cared for me Who filled my nights with ecstasy They live within my heart I'll always be a part Of all the girls I've loved before The winds of change are always blowing And every time I try to stay The winds of change continue blowing And they just carry me away To all the girls I've loved before

Virginia
Interesting question. Maybe "Wicked Game", by Chris Isaak? The world was on fire No one could save me but you. Strange what desire will make foolish people do I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you No, I don't want to fall in love [This love is only gonna break your heart] No, I don't want to fall in love [This love is only gonna break your heart] With you With you What a wicked game you play To make me feel this way What a wicked thing to do To let me dream of you What a wicked thing to say You never felt this way What a wicked thing to do To make me dream of you v And I don't wanna fall in love [This love is only gonna break your heart] And I don't want to fall in love [This love is only gonna break your heart] {World was on fire No one could save me but you Strange what desire will make foolish people do I never dreamed that I'd love somebody like you I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you No I don't wanna fall in love [This love is only gonna break your heart No I don't wanna fall in love [This love is only gonna break your heart] With you With you Nobody loves no one
The Rover
Eric Carmen's "All By Myself" When I was young I never needed anyone And makin' love was just for fun Those days are gone Livin' alone I think of all the friends I've known But when I dial the telephone Nobody's home All by myself Don't wanna be, all by myself anymore All by myself Don't wanna live, all by myself anymore Hard to be sure Sometimes I feel so insecure And love so distant and obscure Remains the cure

lzzoso
I can think of a few songs right off the bat: (I realize this is purely hypothetical and will never happen. I would like to think that Robert Plant could add his vocal style and personality to these songs and make them interesting). Something (the Beatles) Sympathy for the Devil (the Rolling Stones) Monkey Man (the Rolling Stones) Sweat Leaf (Black Sabbath) Feel Like Makin' Love (Bad Company) Of course I think that Robert Plant could sing almost any song (regardless of who it is) and put His stamp on it and make it enjoyable. kaiser
This is a good question. There are so many songs I think would fit his voice. I'll name a few. I wouldn't necessarily want him to record them, but I'd like to hear him do these ones live: 1) A Fool Such As I - Elvis Presley I think this was originally a Hank Snow song but Elvis had a #1 hit with in the late 50's. Robert just sings Elvis songs so well. I can list 10 Elvis songs I'd love to hear him do but this one would probably be tops. I love Robert in "crooner" mode. 2) Drown In My Own Tears - Ray Charles Another "croony" type song but with an R&B edge. I think he'd do a great job on this one. 3) Lonesome Town - Ricky Nelson This song had a bit of popularity again in the 90's due to being on the "Pulp Fiction" soundtrack. Another ballad but with a sound that is a bit spooky, what Robert once described about another song as having a "David Lynch feel". 4) Rock And Roll Woman - Buffalo Springfield Robert's has always been a big fan of theirs. This would be a good choice, as well as "Bluebird" & "Mr Soul". 5) I Want You(She's So Heavy) - The Beatles One of the only bluesy Beatles songs musically & Lennon pretty much just repeats the same lyrics over & over again but with a bit more passion each time. Robert would nail this perfectly. 6) The Angels Rejoiced Last Night - Gram Parson & Emmylou Harris A personal favorite song of mine & I don't think anyone else could top their version of this Louvin Brothers song but I would have loved to have seen Robert & Allison Krauss give it a try. 7) After The Gold Rush & Like A Hurricane - Neil Young For some reason I always think of Robert's voice when I hear Neil Young songs. The first one is such a beautiful song & I think Robert's voice can really pull off the sensitive side of Neil Young. I also think he could really pull off the more aggressive side of Neil Young as well like the second song. Like I said earlier, I don't know why I associate Neil Young songs with Robert's voice but they just seem like a good match. 9) Valleys Of Neptune - Jimi Hendrix This is off of Hendrix's most recent posthumous album. Lyrically & musically it just seems like it would be a nice fit for Robert. There are other Hendrix songs I'd like to see him do but this one sticks out a bit more than others for some reason. 10) Where Is My Mind - The Pixies I don't know if he'd do a good version of this or not but I'd like to see him try. Originally produced by Steve Albini this song has once again that "David Lynch feel" that Robert likes. It would be interesting song for him to try. 11) Whole Lotta Rosie - AC/DC For obvious reasons. Combine "Whole Lotta Love" & the Rosie part from "How Many More Times" and it just seems like a natural fit.
