Yeah, I heard they threw cabbages at him. RS fans can be kinda harsh, a few were actually booing Van Halen when I saw them open for the Stones on their '81 tour.

I have found many of RS fans to be very pompous. Who the fuck brings cabbages to a concert anyway?

Back to the thread - LOVE Prince! Saw him back in '84 at the Carrier Dome - which was simulcast to Europe - and then again in '99 in Tampa. The first clip of him posted is one of my favorite musical moments of all-time. Amazing solo!!

Smart man when it comes to HIS music....

Agreed! Love that Leno clip. There was a great one called Jay Leno's Joke On Prince. Really showed Prince as just a normal guy totally taking the brunt of a joke Leno played on him. But I think it was recently taken down because I can't find it anymore.

I saw Prince over 25 years ago and he put on a great show and I wasn't into Prince back then I took a girl to that show. As time went on I became a fan of Prince. He is a Multi-Instrumentalist, a genuis and one of the baddest motherfuckers in alll of music that came along in the last 60 or 70 years. To me there is nothing that he can't do when it comes to music. He is the only person of the face of the earth that I am jealous of. And he isn't in my top 11 favorite bands or artists.

Used to like him a lot, but lost interest after Sign o' the Times. Still love Purple Rain, one of my fav gtr solos - although I thought I read somewhere that Wendy played it?

Would love to hear the extended versions of PR and Computer Blue - I had a search awhile back but couldn't find them. Would be grateful for a pm if anyone has a link...?

Just found this version this morning (posted by the guys from Alberta Cross on their Facebook)

This is the complete performance of the song which the album version was edited from.

After a 17 hour day, this thread has me wide awake and listening to Prince...and I have to work a long day again tomorrow. I wished I could find ANY video from the performances I saw him in 79 and the early 80's...

Here you go, Deb...the earliest bootleg video I ever had of Prince was Houston 1981...couldn't find any clips with sound on YouTube but I did find Houston 1982.

Here's a clip from New York 1981...it's frustrating so many early clips don't have sound.
