For our west side friends, Cottage pie is a dish of minced beef, carrots and tommy puree, slow cooked with creamy mashed potatoes on top.I also add Parmesan on the top but it is optional

Meat & Potato pie has a pastry topping and is a completely different beast altogether.

You do like Tuna and chips? A combination that to be honest doesn't float my boat. How exactly do you do your Tuna?

Tuna in either oil or brine with chips. Had it again tonight. I really do need to widen my diet. I have the same few things, Day in, day out. I am a fussy eater.

Had sea food for the first time at an office party, recently.

It was at a Kebab cum pub type of joint. It is called The Big Pitcher

http://www.bigpitcher.co.in/

For the record, my dad is highly allergic to sea food. I was terrified to try the prawn kebab, for obvious reasons. Then in went in a few beers (I can sure as hell, out drink any man in my office ;) ) and in spite of being pretty drunk, I can tell you that the prawn kebab and chicken kebab were absolutely lip smacking.

The lamb kebab was just OK. The taste was great, but manually deboning each and every freakin' piece of kebab was messy and annoying!

I highly recommend The Big Pitcher to anyone visiting Bangalore, who wants to go out and have some good culinary

Sea food !! First time? Man you are in for a culinary treat Kiwi, I can eat most things that come out of the sea, except Scallops - I was very sick on them once. Deboning lamb kebabs? Are you sure it was Lamb? In a kebab it's usually just meat.

If my memory serves me right, Indian men were (are) not that clever when drinking alcohol. The amount of bodies pulled out of the sea in Goa was alarming. Nearly always they were drunk. Try scoring a "tola" of Charas?

Thank you, CP! The world of sea food sure sounds exciting! :D

How do scallops taste? I'm very curious to know!

Yes, the dish was called Grilled and marinated Lamb kebabs. The bones were just so annoying to remove!

On the other hand, the chicken and prawn kebabs were soft, tender and juicy! In a word : perfect!! :D

Kiwi, it's amazing to me that you have never eaten seafood before now, but with your dad's allergy, I'm sure you weren't exposed to it much while growing up. I have lived in several different places, but always near the ocean, and seafood has always been a large part of my diet.

Well, it's better late than never, Debbie! While I've eaten chicken and lamb, sea food was a big no no! I'm really glad that I'm not allergic! I know that I'll be missing out on a lot if I was! :)

...... of nothing. You really have to add things to them, like Black Pudding. I think it's a texture thing. They are one of those foods that can sound great but actually taste of nothing. Like.............................

Avocados. Now I have stated many times that the Avo and me don't get along. So Mrs CP is doing a starter of Avo's with Prawns in a Marie Rose sauce. She says it will be wonderful so here's hoping?

I have done a Beef and Chorizo Cassoulet. This hearty dish will be served with a crusty Sourdough loaf. eeemmmmmm delish:D

Pistachio and raspberry cheese cake and cream for afters.

Wine lots of it and gooey black Maroc Hashish

And not to keep Chalks out of it, I will be reading the sunday papers to burn it off;)

Report on the.....................

Avocados - no,no no! Prawns were fine but the tasteless putty underneath - ghastly. i just don't get it at all. And Sean before you ask, yes they were ripe !

^^^ Oh no, cp! Not digging the avocados??  If available, I buy avocados every time I go to the grocery store. I love them with everything, and sometimes will eat just an avocado for lunch. Cut into chunks, sprinkle with a little sea salt  and balsamic vinegar and voila! ;)  Fresh chunky guacamole is a favorite at my house as well.

Having said that, I have found that just like bananas, there is a very short couple of days to eat them so that they are perfect.  Too ripe or too green and they are unedible. That may not be what you're dealing with, sounds like you just don't like them.  No worries, that's more for Mrs. cp! :)

No DD. Guacomole i can dig, I suppose it's the addition of the other things that makes it. I don't mind dipping things in it

By the way Debs it's Inedible. No such word as unedible. So, sorry to say that's lines for you after school!! :D

Hmmm, I suppose you are technically correct, cp.  But unedible just seems more appropriate (and emphatic), and now I will be on a quest to have inedible replaced with unedible. ;)
