TRic
Searched around but couldn't find anything on this. Apologies if it's in the wrong forum, I figured this to be a both live/general gear thing. Just watching Kashmir and I noticed some of the bridge elements on Jimmy's LP he used in 2007. Any idea on what's actually going on here? I managed to capture the frame when the light shines right on it. It looks like the 2nd string (high A in this case) extends past the tailpiece and ends up going into some lock or nob of some sort in the body. hecube
This is a b-bender installed on Jimmy's Les Paul. It's been installed for close to 30 years if not more. More on b-benders: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B-Bender Gene Parsons, inventor of the b-bender, the guy who installed b-benders on Jimmy's Les Paul and two of his Telecasters and on my Telecaster as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIilq3JdCT4 Back of my Telecaster:
hecube
If you want to hear Jimmy play his b-bender, just listen to "All my love" from "In through the out door" or most any songs on the first album by The Firm. Jimmy was pretty bender happy at the beginning of the 80s! All the bends you hear in these songs are done with the b-bender...
