I’m really enjoying this thread and there are some great Zep acts out there!

I’m not sure if my band, Purple Zeppelin, strictly qualify as a Zep tribute as we also include a tribute to Deep Purple (performed by the same group of four musicians)

As a guitarist it’s probably the most challenging and enjoyable gig ever, and if anyone’s interested, here’s a video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYkEo85vbVM

Hope you enjoy it, and if you’re in the UK come along and say hello!

I'm a newbie here. I recently took my 13 yr old to a "Get the Led Out" show and it was amazing. They honor Led Zeppelin with their excellent artistry and do not try to look like band but sound incredible. I closed my eyes and thought I was transported! In the show the lead singer says, "I know what your thinking, why is Slash on lead vocals and Plant playing guitar!?!" Great showmanship. They do a great honor to this timeless, intense music.

Where I am from, their shows sell out!

Check out their promo video that is on their main page! If you can see them? It's well worth it!

I've seen 4 Zep tribute bands. I don't want to name any names, or hurt any feelings, but all 4 bands were a big musical disappointment. (2 of the bands looked really good, though.) All 4 bands exclusively played the studio versions of the songs--I'd been hoping for a serious attempt to re-create a live performance--and I/we left feeling like we should have just stayed at home and listened to our Zep albums. I've heard some good things about the band "No Quarter," but I've never seen them.

Hi all, new member here. There's a tribute band called Heartbreaker that used to play a pub in Barrow in Furness a few years back. They didn't look anything like LZ but always blew me away. The singer was from Liverpool I think and would always start the show by asking if we had our bingo cards ready :-) The guitarist was a stocky short haired guy with hands like shovels but man could he play! He had the les paul sunburst, Gibson twin neck and the Danelectro! Unfortunately the pub was converted from a grimy rock pub to a classy wine bar and the band never came back after that.

If anyone here is aware of a Zep tribute band whom makes an honest attempt to recreate a live Zep show--complete with improvs and jams--please let me know. Years ago I remember reading about a certain Zep tribute band who was (apparently) putting on shows where they attempted to re-create TSRTS note for note. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the band, but I'd like to see them if they're still around.

My Best.
Since last September, I've been checking out a tribute band around Southern Ontario, Canada.

CODA - The Raw Led Zeppelin Experience, is amazing. They don't just play the 'album versions' but various bootlegs versions too. They have fun on stage, include audience participation as well, and amazing to their fans. They play anywhere between 3-4hrs, usually 3 sets, over 23 songs. A great setlist. Their shows include, the bow, theremin, Moby Dick solo. etc.

You can read our review and interview with them at: http://ledzepufpinterviews.blogspot.ca/2013/08/coda-raw-led-zeppelin-experience.html

They do not wear the 'costumes/wigs'..they let the music be the focus of the show. They make sure to include songs from each album, and they do an amazing version of 'Levee', 'The Rover', 'Bron-Y-Aur Stomp', 'The Lemon Song', as well as all your other faves.

Find them on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CODATRLZE and website: http://www.codazepp.com/

My not so best...
Last November I went to see a tribute band..I will respectfully leave out the name. While this performer has a great reputation, unfortunately, I was disappointed that he did not know the lyrics. During the popular songs even, there was paper flipping so he could remember the words.

Saw GTLO last night at the Hard Rock Live in Biloxi, Mississippi and they were fantastic!! Very sincere and true to the music. They were all great, and I was especially drawn to the drummer...WOW!!

Rock On GTLO!!

Really? Are there videos of them on youtube?

Absolutely!

http://youtu.be/5JSuJfS2-UI - the feel and groove is F'n awesome! Greg Thompson comes closer to John Bonham than any rock drummer out there - see for yourselves.

Btw, I've seen them numerous times. Greg Thompson plays with 1, yes ONE, bass pedal!
