ZEPFAN17 Posted January 26, 2013 Author Share Posted January 26, 2013 ^^^ That is so true each movie and each James Bond made it their movie and the details,gimmicks,wild stunts.high speed chases as well as the lovely ladies,villains and theme songs made each movie great.i have seen all of them too and hope there is more coming..I havent seen SkyFall yet but reserved it,I watched the trailer and it looks excellent. While the Sunbeam Alpine from the first film is not as well-known, the Aston Martin DB5 owes a lot of its cachet to the man from MI6, as does the BMW Z3 that debuted in the Bond films of the 1990s. Read on to see which Bond cars were in which movies--including that Lotus-turned-submarine. 1. Dr. No (1962): Sunbeam Alpine When Sean Connery first donned James Bond’s tuxedo, elaborate gadgetry and sexy cars were not yet the order of the day. Case in point: his first car was a Sunbeam Alpine convertible with not one single alteration from Q’s lab. Bond’s driving skills are on display in the Alpine, however, when he drives under a construction crane and causes his pursuers to fly off a cliff. (Bonus trivia: Grace Kelly scared the living daylights out of Cary Grant in a Sunbeam Alpine in To Catch a Thief.) 2. Goldfinger (1964) and Thunderball (1965): Aston Martin DB5 Aston Martin After that Sunbeam, people took notice of the Silver Birch DB5 in the second 007 picture, Goldfinger. This time, Bond's car was equipped with radar, machine guns, oil slick dispensers, smoke screens, a bullet-proof windshield, plus the most iconic piece of MI6 equipment to ever come out of Q's lab, the passenger ejector seat. The DB5 was Bond's getaway vehicle at the start of Thunderball, with the addition of rear-facing water cannons. 3. On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) and Diamonds Are Forever (1971): DBS Aston Martin A new green DBS replaced Bond's silver DB5 for the next two films, without any noticeable modifications. In Diamonds Are Forever, it can be see 4. The Spy Who Loved Me (1977): Lotus Esprit The Lotus Esprit in The Spy Who Loved Me did something no other car has ever done: Bond drove it into the water, and it turned into a submarine. Once you see it done, it makes perfect sense, given the shape of the car. Unfortunately, Lotus has yet to make this fantasy come true. 5. For Your Eyes Only (1981): Lotus Esprit Turbo Lotus The first of the Esprit Turbos in For Your Eyes Only didn't last very long. As one of the villain's henchmen tries to steal it, the self-destruct sequence in 007's car kicks in. Car and thief are then blown to bits. Luckily, Q's got another one in the lab, though Bond doesn't really use any gadgets while he drives the replacement Turbo through Italy in the snow 6. The Living Daylights (1987): Aston Martin V8 Volante According to Aston Martin, Bond's new Volante was Gun Metal Silver, as opposed to Silver Birch like the original DB5. The gadgetry, however, is undisputed: lasers in the hubcaps, rocket booster, skis, and a guided missile system, plus the usual bulletproof windshield and self-destruct system. 7. GoldenEye (1995): Aston Martin DB5 and BMW Z3 While GoldenEye launched the BMW Z3 into the public's consciousness , the car didn't get much play in the film despite its standard-issue Q modifications, like self-destruct and radar. Bond instead drove his trusty, and by this time vintage, DB5 to race Xenia Onatopp in her Ferrari 355. The DB5 was ahead of its time with a refrigerated glove box (for champagne, of course) and voice mail, but otherwise it was not heavily modified. 8. Tomorrow Never Dies (1997): Aston Martin DB5 and BMW 750iL BMW The 1964 DB5 makes yet another appearance in Tomorrow Never Dies, but the BMW gets more screen time. Despite having a huge, 12-cylinder engine, the 750iL is one of the most boring-looking of all James Bond's cars. Its gadgetry was top-notch, though, with missiles mounted under the sunroof, tear gas dispensers, and cable snippers that pop from the BMW logo on the hood. 9. The World Is Not Enough (1999): BMW Z8 BMW Bond makes use of the Z8's missiles and sonic laser, which allows him to listen to conversations in nearby buildings, until the car is sawn in half by a helicopter. Not easy to do, given that Q had outfitted the car with titanium armor. 10. Die Another Day (2002): Aston Martin Vanquish Aston Martin Q's lab returned to Aston Martin for Die Another Day, so it seems fitting that it would return to the ejector seat, too. Bond's car also had machine guns under the hood, rockets behind the grille, and cannons under the chassis. 11. Casino Royale (2006): Aston Martin DBS There were two debuts in Casino Royale: a blond Bond, played by Daniel Craig, and the DBS. The car was without many extras, but it hardly needed them for this film. 12. Quantum of Solace (2008): Aston Martin DBS Aston Martin Why mess with a good thing? The DBS is back as 007's car for Quantum of Solace. Before the movie even hits theaters, the car has already gained a measure of fame for being smashed up during filming in Italy. A second $262,000 DBS had to be brought in, which probably overjoyed the bookkeepers in Gaydon. Roger Moore was the oldest actor to debut as Bond (he was 45 when Live and Let Die was filmed) and 58 when filming finished on A View To a Kill in 1985. 2. Sean Connery began losing his hair at the age of 21, so in all of his James Bond movies, he wore a toupee. 3. At 6’ 2” Timothy Dalton was the tallest of the Bond actors. At 5’ 10” Daniel Craig is the shortest. 4. Director George Lucas has said on many occasions that Connery’s portrayal of James Bond was a big inspiration for the Indiana Jones character. When Connery was cast as Indiana’s father in The Last Crusade, Lucas said: “Who else but Bond could have been worthy enough to play Indiana Jones' dad!” 5. George Lazenby broke a stuntman's nose during a Bond fight screen test. It was this physical strength that finalised his casting as Bond. 6. Daniel Craig is the only Bond actor to be born after the Bond series began. 7. Timothy Dalton’s Bond was the last to smoke cigarettes. 8. After the release of Die Another Day, Pierce Brosnan was approached by a man in a Dublin bar who asked to shake his hand. He obliged and then cracked up when the man said: "That's the closest my hand will ever get to Halle Berry's bottom". 9. James Bond is the longest-running film franchise, with 22 films made since Dr No in 1962. It’s also the second most successful (after Harry Potter, of course); grossing more than $5bn. 10. George Lazenby was the youngest actor to play James Bond, being 30 when On Her Majesty's Secret Servicewas released. 11. All the scenes which showed Roger Moore running in his seven Bond movies were performed by doubles, as Moore felt he looked awkward when running. 12. Due to Ursula Andress’ (pictured) heavy accent, producers had her voice dubbed by Nikki van der Zyl. Despite playing a gun-toting secret agent in seven bond films, Roger Moore suffers from Hoplophobia (a fear of firearms). His fear stems from a childhood accident when his brother shot him in the leg with an air rifle by accident. 14. When accepting the role of Bond, and aware of the dangers of being typecast, Pierce Brosnan insisted that he be allowed to work on other movies between the Bond films. For every Bond movie, Brosnan appeared in at least two other mainstream films. 15. Judy Dench has the 007 theme tune as her mobile ringtone. The actress, who has played MI6 head M since Goldeneye in 1995, was filming a scene for latest Bond film Skyfall when her phone rang. 16. Actors that were in the running to play James Bond over the years include David Niven (Ian Fleming’s preference over Sean Connery!), Christopher Lee, Clint Eastwood, Burt Reynolds, Gerard Butler, Will Smith and even Tom Jones! 17. From Dr No to Quantum of Solace, James Bond has killed 352 people and slept with 52 women. 18. Ian Fleming chose the name James Bond as he wanted the ‘simplest, dullest, plainest-sounding name’ he could think of. 19. Goldeneye is the nickname of Fleming's beachfront house in Jamaica where he wrote the Bond novels and short stories between 1952 and 1964. 20.
