Thanks for checking guys and gals. I looked up Michael Ochs. Michael Ochs is a photographic archivist, which means that he owns the licensing rights to many photographs and he is not actually a photographer. The guy I met today is named David Allen. His business card (post card size) had alot of celebrity photos on it including the one mentioned above. He had a bunch of good stories. He noticed that I was wearing a T shirt of my Zep tribute band and started up a conversation. His website is very old and a bit lame. I thought about hiring him to do some band shots...but I don't know...

You should contact Steve A Jones, forum member....he has a lot of knowledge and maybe able to add more to the conversation...cheers Fishy

I met a guy in Central Park today who claims to have taken this photo. Anyone know where I can find the photo credit?

It's been published many times with proper credit given. I'm fairly certain the photographer is Michael Putland or Bob Gruen.

Michael Putland:

There was also the great Bob Gruen who was based in New York at the time. Bob has an online gallery nowadays, and the image above is very similar to image #bg0148 in the gallery (though from a different show):

Hello All,

I took this photo of Led Zeppelin in 1977 at Madison Square Garden.

I saw people were asking about it.

I was friends with the band and Swan Song Records.

I let them use the photo for a promo shot, which they used ever since.

Reproduction of it was for editorial use only. Nobody was given permission to resell it.

Not michael Ochs or Getty Images. It was sold many many times without my permission.

Thanks

David Allen
