I still remember the first moment I saw their [New Year's Day] music video in 1983.

(Yes, they came late to Korea...) I knew they were going to be big; the only problem was how big.

I watched them through their [under a Blood Red Sky] concert film, then [unforgettable Fire], and then Live Aid...

They were not polished musicians but sometimes greatness doesn't come from skill.

Their energy was overpowering and their sincerity was heartfelt.

Last night I saw [uABRS] again and was pleasantly surprised at how powerful the songs from [boy], [October], and [War] were.

Led Zeppelin is always my No. 1 band, but U2 is very special to me, too.

It kind of makes me sad that now U2 is too big for me to feel personally connected to them.

However, [Achtung Baby] is an absolute killer!

I'm a huge U2 fan as well. I was in HS between 1982 & 1986 so U2 was right there in my wheel house along with zeppelin of course. My first u2 gig was 1985 for the UFF Tour here in Chicago (the UIC Pavilion). I was able to track down a really good audience recording of the show a few years ago. Its really an amazing show (killer set list & GREAT recording). Anyway Those LP's starting with the J. Tree - Zooropa are my favorite U2 LP's. (I discount R&H because its a soundtrack).

Zooropa has such a layered depth to it I describe it to my friends as like U2's Dark Side of the Moon. It's really one of my favorite with J. Tree #2 & UFF as a #3.

I love U2. I bought the single Gloria when it first came out then War.Bought every album since. The Edge always interests me with his effects laden guitar and his solos are usually fantastic.Bono unfortunately annoys the crap out of me where he sticks his beak into anything that's news worthy. Also the new album is disappointing.I think they have run out of ideas.

I find the new U2 album hit-and-miss. And the flood of U2 Apple ads annoy me. If their ticket prices are reasonable, I will still see them in concert, for they usually deliver the goods live. But the last album of theirs that I found consistently good was "All That You Can't Leave Behind"...and that was 14 years ago!!!

Attended U2's LA Forum show last night. Bono had this to say about Dennis Sheehan (and Led Zeppelin);

http://www.nydailyne...ticle-1.2238407

Bono's joke about him 'not being able to fill Robert Plant's pants' got a big laugh from the Forum crowd.

The article doesn't mention that Bono also said; 'I think in the beginning of our career we were trying to fill the void left by Led Zeppelin, but, of course, we couldn't do that.'

All the best to you, Dennis Sheehan.

Who has watched the U2 concert from Paris that has been showing on HBO?  Pretty epic, IMO.  They have upped their show yet again, with an interactive double decker catwalk.  The set was amazing, spanning their career and taking a musical journey at the same time.  I'm not that familiar with their last release, I have it on my phone but haven't listened to it more than twice.  I was burned out on them for awhile.  Seeing this performance has rejuvenated my interest in them. If they were to bring this show around here, I'd definitely see them yet again.  Hopefully in an arena setting this time.

Just bought myself Achtung Baby this afternoon after not hearing it for years (More or less due to It Might Get Loud, and my chef at work choosing it as his deserted island disk).

One of the greatest rock records ever made, fantastic experience to listen to it with headphones.
