Ross's pictures/take from today.

Went to the Budokan today where NHK TV were filming part of a Jimmy Page/Led Zeppelin TV Special. Took a photo of Jimmy in the stalls. Spent the evening at Kinokuniya bookstore in Shinjuku where there was a book signing. One fan stood in front of JP and was so overcome he just cried,he couldn’t even talk he must have been frightened by Kazuyo. I think most of the people were just in awe of him being there.

Can anyone throw any extra light on Halfin's comments about a Japanese woman travelling with them to promote a perfume? It seems so strange that Jimmy would be sharing his event with someone who doesn't seem to be anything to do with Zeppelin or whatever. I mean, he says that she was there at the signing - this isn't just someone who was on the same flight or something.

She is Ross's assistant. It's his humor. Jimmy was so lovely with that man who broke down in front of him today.

Ah, got it, cheers.

What did he do - just sort of pat him on the arm and give him time to calm down, rather than rushing on to the next person? I hope so. (Did he say anything to him? Could the man speak English?) Poor guy'd be kicking himself for the rest of his life. But what do you do if they won't calm down...? It must be awful for the person on the receiving end when fans are just hysterical.

J. Page pays respects to Hiroshima A-bomb victims

Legendary guitarist Jimmy Page has paid tribute to victims of the 1945 atomic bombing of Hiroshima.

The Led Zeppelin guitarist visited the western Japanese city on Thursday for the first time in 44 years.

The British hard rock band was formed in 1968. Hiroshima was one of the venues of its Japan tour in 1971.

Page laid flowers in front of a cenotaph for A-bomb victims at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.

Page said it's a deeply moving day coming back to the city. He also said that the whole world has been under the shadow of the bomb ever since it was dropped on the city, and that all people are praying for peace.

He then met Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui.

The mayor asked Page to disseminate across the world the wish of atomic bomb survivors that no more people would suffer from such bombings.

Page said that for the victims to rest in peace, everyone else should strive and hope for peace.

He then posed for photographs with the mayor and other officials.

The British musician has been in Japan since Sunday to promote remastered Led Zeppelin albums.

Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page prays for A-bomb victims in Hiroshima
July 31, 2015

HIROSHIMA--It’s been a long time since Jimmy Page first visited Hiroshima. But that experience left such an impression on the Led Zeppelin guitarist that he suspended a promotional tour in Japan to pray for victims of the 1945 atomic bombing of the city.

Page, 71, laid flowers at the cenotaph for atomic bomb victims in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park on July 30, and then met with Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui at the Hiroshima municipal government building.

Matsui mentioned the words inscribed at the monument, “Let all the souls here rest in peace; for we shall not repeat the evil.”

The British rock legend said the people of the world have never forgotten the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in the 70 years since the end of World War II.

Page’s previous visit to Hiroshima in 1971 gave him a deep understanding of the tragedy of the bombing on Aug. 6, 1945.

He said people nowadays should protect peace while thinking about the feelings of the atomic bombing victims.

The guitarist is currently in Japan on a promotional tour for an album that went on sale July 31.

HIROSHIMA – Jimmy Page, the guitarist of the legendary British rock band Led Zeppelin, on Thursday visited Hiroshima and laid flowers for the victims of the U.S. atomic bombing of the city 70 years ago.

He placed the flowers at the cenotaph in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and bowed his head.

“The whole world has been under the shadow of the bomb. I know that all of us pray for peace,” Page told reporters.

He later visited the Atomic Bomb Dome, which survived the bomb dropped on Hiroshima on Aug. 6, 1945, in the closing days of World War II.

He met with Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui at City Hall.

Matsui asked Page to spread the message inscribed on the cenotaph all over the world, and that this is the wish of the hibakusha. The message reads, “Let all the souls here rest in peace; For we shall not repeat the evil.”

Page replied that people who live now should make efforts to maintain peace while taking into account the feelings of the atomic bomb victims and survivors.

It was Page’s second visit to Hiroshima. His first visit was in 1971, during which he and other Led Zeppelin members visited City Hall and donated ¥7 million in revenue from their concert in Hiroshima to support hibakusha.
