Klape
Hi ! When the Reissues of LZ IV came out, I was wishing that Jimmy Page Include the alternate solo of Stairway To Heaven, for me this solo is as good, maybe better than the original. I am so frustrated that the only modification is the little riff coming right after the solo and Robert Plant's voice. Am I the only one who is frustrated because of that ? If you never heard the alternate solo, here it is, even the Interlude is better ! : https://youtu.be/vFcnSkH16Tg?t=5m32s

Sathington Willoughby
BTW I really like that version of WLL you uploaded Klape, great sounding breakdown section and theremin.
Klape
Thanks ! Did you hear the ending, Robert plant is crazy !! https://youtu.be/LxUl3GiqlBQ?t=5m33s I think he made the wrong decision because we are supposed to hear an alternate mix, a riff starting 20s before and a voice a bit "closer" are kind of disappointing for one of the most iconic song of rock and roll I was waiting for more. Stairway is a song of movement and building energy, if he would have went with the alternate, the momentum of the song would have been ruined IMO. Thanks for uploading, I never heard this alternate before and you are right, it should have been on the companion disk.

Yes, you are right, for me STH has always been a song about positivity and this solo/coda bring a dark side to the tune.
Stairway is NOT stolen
I find it strange how stairway is a uplifting song, despite being in a minor key.
Klape
I find the intro a bit "sad" , but when Jimmy Page start to play the low electric middle section (around 2:15) all the positivity come in.
the chase
Nah, he made the right decision. I agree. It sounds like a dry run that he never intended to use as the final take.
