Does he need to put a disclaimer every time he says he wants to do something? Of course not. Give him a break..

We'll give him a break when he gives us a break. I honestly couldn't care less if he does something new or not, I'm simply beyond tired of hearing him talk about "a solo project" and especially "wanting to be seen to be playing live".

11/11...it's time to put up or shut up.

A rod in his back for what??? Focusing on remastering the led Zeppelin catalog and not the solo project you want him to do?  How selfish of him.

I don't particularly want him to do a solo project or anything else for that matter. if he wants to retire good for him he deserves it and if he wants to remaster past releases for evermore, likewise

but it's him that keeps raising the issue of doing a solo album or performing live, for how many years now? 14 is it? in print, on film, at almost every interview he himself raises it, often without even being asked about it. its always definitely next year, or its towards the end of this year and then he'll provide an excuse for why he didn't, and then make an other prediction for when it will happen, ad infinitum

he's the proverbial boy who cried wolf

Make sure that if you meet him (again) you tell him that.

we are guests here. Everyone has a right to an opinion, but some here show up and just take a dump in the middle of the floor.. That is old..a little more respect that's all.

Well said. I am surprised by the amount of negativity that some fans have against the band and/or members they love so much. I understand their frustration and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I agree with you that a little more respect should be given. Some of these so called "fans" are borderline abusive towards certain band members. I just don't understand it.

I don't see that its necessarily disrespectful to point out that someone has been promising something for nearly 15 years when certainly for many of them there was no intention of doing anything at all. it may not be comfortable for some to hear it but it is what it is. I'm not a hater (as is the modern term) I'm a fully paid up Page fan since 1976

maybe its not very respectful for Page to be hoodwinking his fans for so many years? I know that for many newcomers to the forum or the band through the recent rereleases they may have only heard his promises for a year or two and are happy to ride his publicity train in hope, but many of us got of the train a long time ago.

empty promises are empty promises. just because he's Jimmy Fuckin Page doesn't alter that

A lot of musicians / artists get sidetracked. That's their right and prerogative. Tony Iommi talked about scoring a series of horror movies about 6 years ago.. Hasn't happened because he's touring with Black Sabbath... Great .. But he didn't tell ME he changed his plans... Guess what?  He doesn't have to! Neither does Jimmy Page.  Yes Tony's been playing music, Jimmy has been Producing... So what! He's keeping busy... Jimmy has done plenty in these 15 years..

Expressing the opinion that a guitarist on a nearly 30 year hiatus from solo work should put up or shut up come 11/11 is hardly taking a dump here. Let the record show I've given far more to this forum over the past 20 years than I have ever taken.

I agree with your second point 100%.

The dump comment wasn't directed at you either. If you took it that way I apologize. You're usually in the thick of this whole inactivity thing, but I agree you bring a lot more good to the table.

Any decent fan of Jimmy has to be frustrated. I look at friends who love Rush, Who, Springsteen, McCartney, Stones etc and I'm totally jealous. They get to see their "bands" play quite often. Say what you want about the bands getting old and all that, but at least the fans are given the opportunity to see these bands. You can choose not to go if you don't want to see them play a sub peak level.

As fans of Jimmy/Zeppelin we get the opportunity to get excited about listening to Zep II for the millionth time.

Spot on. Respect is a two way thing.

So, Jimmy Page disrespected you by working on The BBC remastered set instead of his solo project?

You're taking this way too personally.. Jimmy has always been unpredictable, a little friendly advice, don't worry so much about it.. Believe it when you see it.

Well, thanks for that and no worries. Sometimes tough love is required. He is going to play on 11/11 and we'll ALL be happy for it.

I think he's insulted fan's intelligence by saying he's going to play live for around 13 years, when he has no real intention of doing so.

You seem intent on attacking people on this forum who think his "next year I will be..." rhetoric is hollow, rather than having a mature discussion on what is behind the delays.

Bit of friendly advice for you: relax, enjoy the debate and don't get so worked up defending Jimmy that you have to accuse people of "taking dumps", etc. It's embarrassing.

I would be thrilled if he climbed up on stage with Bieber at this point TBH. However, regardless of what he choses to do or not do, I wish the man all the best. He has given the world so much during the time he was active, much more than many of his contemporaries ever did. We would all love to see Mr. Page active in a live setting again but, if he prefers to attend poetry readings, drop some viagra and bang his 20 something girlfriend like an old screen door while cranking Whole Lotta Love...good for him. I am lucky if the wife gives me a handy every few weeks after cleaning out the garage.

It's good to be the KING !!!

Jimmy will always be my rock god, but it has gotten very old with his false promises over the last 15 years or so.. I'd like to see him do at least one more full show live. There are artists older than him still touring. Why can't Jimmy?

Touring aint easy man, you gotta love it. If you don't financially need to tour, and you don't have an emotional need to be on the road (at the age of 73) why would you put yourself through that. It's always seemed to me he's been promising 'himself' to do something as opposed to 'myself' anyways. Guess I don't take Page's words as personally as others do here. I tend to dwell in the live Led Zeppelin past anyways so, maybe that explains my lax attitude towards Jimmy Page. Lets just say...I've been fulfilled...and thats an understatement.

I'm not embarrassed in the slightest. My conscience is clear and I treat people with respect.  How do you know what his intentions are or were? Is he not allowed to change his priorities? Has he sat on his ass for the last 15 years? I'm all for a good debate too,  but when I see him being attacked and insulted, I will continue to respond..

As SAJ said, I'll give him a break, when he gives us a break.

Come November, put up or shut up.

This is a big opportunity for him to restore his reputation as a performing musician and rebuild fans' trust.
