Happy 50th Birthday Sgt. Pepper!

My dad came home from work the day "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" was released, with "Sgt. Pepper's..." and Jimi Hendrix "Are You Experienced?" in his bag. After dinner, he played them on his McIntosh stereo.

I was never the same after that. Sound and music and the concept of albums took on a whole new meaning for me.  You could say it set me on the path that led me to Led Zeppelin.

It doesn't matter to me if "Sgt. Pepper's" is the greatest album of all-time or even if it is the best Beatles album. It was the best Beatles album of 1967 and it was the album that truly awakened me to rock and roll and that is what is important.

It is an iconic album, as it influenced many others back in 67. I think both the White & Abbey Road are better overall. It's too bad that there aren't lost or previously unreleased tracks, from what I've read.

Father McKenzie
Writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near
Look at him working
Darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there
What does he care?
