stairway to heaven Question about a lyric in Stairway to Heaven

Hi, everyone.  

My name is Terri, and I am brand new to the forum.  I have already introduced myself in the "Meet and Greet" forum.  I have a question about a lyric in "Stairway to Heaven." I was hoping to find it on the main site, under "Discography,'' but that was no help.   Anyway, it is the use of the word, "soul'' vs "sole."   The following line is:  "Our shadows are taller than our souls."   Now, someone told me that it is "SOLE,"  like the soles of your feet.  I had always thought it was "soul."   Help?    Thanks in advance.

I mean No Offense by this but it is "Souls".  The whole concept of the lyrics to "Stairway to Heaven" is that it was meant to be ambiguous and Robert Plant wanted everyone to "decipher" what they wanted and willed the words to be to fit their own interpretation,  I have My own interpretations of the words to this "Epic" song, but I prefer to not share them because I do not want to start any controversy.  (Let's just say that I think that the whole Song and meaning are what Jimmy and Robert wanted and that was off the Occultic leanings, even way back in 1971 when the such matter were still not really known- and still not really known to this day).

Nah, it's about sole (fish) in part about getting the best deal at the fish market. In fact, the working title was Salmon to Heaven.

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold... This world of illusion. And she's buying a Stairway to Heaven... Basically she's using drugs to get high and close to Heaven. When she gets there she knows if the stores are all closed with the words you can get what she came for... buy another shot. Buy another hit. Predictable result..

 reference to the inner audible life stream. The sound. The word. It's enticing it pulls the soul upwards. Beautiful words.

 Shadows taller than our soul.. ego is the shadow. I think therefore I am. The human condition. She's now spiritually Awakened. She wants to share that. And 2 teach. Spiritual practice is hard. You have to listen hard. To be a rock and not to roll.. to hold what's true. Not the shadow.

 when all our one and one is all.. the universal truth of the spirit. And she's buying... reference back to what where she was at the beginning of the song. The most beautiful spiritual song. Surely god directed Robert Plant pen.
