Chap
Any particular songs you can hear ?? or what would turn into a zep masterpiece ?? To me the opening of "Tinker Tailor" is the genesis of what would become TSRTS. That seems the obvious answer, but maybe it is less obvious to some reading this thread. PlanetPage
... Page in his live debut with The Yardbirds at the Marquee ....The second point of note is that the photo captures Page in his live debut with The Yardbirds at the Marquee. The date is 21st June 1966. At the mic is Keith Relf, the Yardbirds frontman who passed away in 1976. Jahfin
There's a couple of Yardbird's 7" singles that are due for release on the Black Friday edition of Record Store Day on 11.25.11., "Ten Little Indians" and "Ha Ha Said the Clown". It's too bad they picked the two worst Yardbirds singles.

Driver8
Shapes of things: an interview with Jim McCarty (the Yardbirds) By Shirley Pena "Part 1 of a three-part, in depth interview with legendary British drummer, singer and songwriter Jim McCarty. Spanning almost half a century in the music business, he is renowned as a founding member of many iconic bands (the Yardbirds, Renaissance, etc.) as well as an accomplished, critically acclaimed solo artist. Part 1 will focus on his work with the Yardbirds. Part 2 will discuss his work with the bands he founded after the Yardbirds' demise, and Part 3 will focus on his solo work" http://www.examiner....y-the-yardbirds

f2walsh
Any self-respecting Yardbirds or Jimmy Page should have a copy of Greg Russo's book 'Yardbirds, The Ultimate Rave-Up', 3rd edition. Not only did Greg have unfettered access to the surviving members and their family members but a certain member of this board contributed to the book's concert chronology, so it contains THE single most comprehensive listing of Page's pre-Zeppelin live performances ever published. Where can I get this book?
walter's walker
Y'all heard that Yardbirds studio outtake version of "Tangerine" that surfaced a couple years back? I haven't seen that one anywhere, including on the new 4 CD Yardbirds box set "Glimpses" that just came out...
Flyingzepp
Check out "Think about it" from the seminal BBC sessions.... Always wondered why the early Zep never took that one on the road. Somehow it makes more sense in the 1969 playlist than For your love I always wondered that also

bigzepfan
I saw the final show of the 2012 mini-tour last nite in New Brunswick, NJ.....Alot of fun hearing those classic tunes. They did I'm Confused which was the precursor to Dazed and Confused...Different lyrics, but very similar. Here's a vid from a different show on their tour....Thought it may be interesting to Zep Fans who have never heard it before...
bigzepfan
The show was pretty tame - not even one person got up and danced...except me... I got press passes and will post some photos on my website later, and also did "From the Fans", my rockumentary series... More to come soon! Jahfin
The Yardbirds make the cut in this list of Little Steven's favorite garage bands. I was somewhat surprised by some of this other choices though, especially the band he lists last.
Texas Melanie
I was surprised by his definition of a garage band. Very cool choices but I have always thought of a garage band as one that has very inexperienced musicians, humble beginnings and rough around the edges. i would never classify the Yardbirds as such.
