The Official Yardbirds Thread

Recommended Posts

Any particular songs you can hear ?? or what would turn into a zep masterpiece ??

To me the opening of "Tinker Tailor" is the genesis of what would become TSRTS. That seems the obvious answer, but maybe it is less obvious to some reading this thread.

... Page in his live debut with The Yardbirds at the Marquee

LondonWalksTheYardbirds.jpg

....The second point of note is that the photo captures Page in his live debut with The Yardbirds at the Marquee. The date is 21st June 1966. At the mic is Keith Relf, the Yardbirds frontman who passed away in 1976.

Shapes of things: an interview with Jim McCarty (the Yardbirds)

By Shirley Pena

"Part 1 of a three-part, in depth interview with legendary British drummer, singer and songwriter Jim McCarty. Spanning almost half a century in the music business, he is renowned as a founding member of many iconic bands (the Yardbirds, Renaissance, etc.) as well as an accomplished, critically acclaimed solo artist. Part 1 will focus on his work with the Yardbirds. Part 2 will discuss his work with the bands he founded after the Yardbirds' demise, and Part 3 will focus on his solo work"

Any self-respecting Yardbirds or Jimmy Page should have a copy of Greg Russo's book

'Yardbirds, The Ultimate Rave-Up', 3rd edition. Not only did Greg have unfettered

access to the surviving members and their family members but a certain member of this board contributed to the book's concert chronology, so it contains THE single most comprehensive listing of Page's pre-Zeppelin live performances ever published.

:thanku:

Where can I get this book?

That was cool, thanks for posting PlanetPage! I see from YouTube that the video was from Jim McCarty himself & he's got some other ones too that I will be checking out as well (I love The Yardbirds).

...just a little late in response...no prob's; I noticed it also when I posted it...He is very Gracious, if you ever have a chance, I hope you get to meet him...very welcoming and friendly;

on a slighlty different note, if you ever want to try a new restaurant, you may want to try the "Yardbird" in Hong Kong....Here is a menu for Restaurant Yardbird, the Hot Spot...

...Jim McCarty is also a Vegetarian if so interested, few photos of him in support of this...

I saw the final show of the 2012 mini-tour last nite in New Brunswick, NJ.....Alot of fun hearing those classic tunes.

They did I'm Confused which was the precursor to Dazed and Confused...Different lyrics, but very similar.

Here's a vid from a different show on their tour....Thought it may be interesting to Zep Fans who have never

heard it before...
