jimmy aand jimena

I always thought Jackie DeShannon was a big love of his life too. Wasn't "Tangerine" written about her, or am I wrong?

This is a common story, although I've yet to see a quote confirming it. All I've seen is that Jimmy wrote it about a girl he dated in the '60s.

I have read the article that Jimena was born in 1972, but I don't know the fact.

About Jackie De Shannon, the only thing I know is that Jimmy sometimes showed up in the concert of the Yardbirds with her in around 1965. Does anyone have more information?

Jimmy looked back on the life till then when becoming 26 years old, he said that his happiest memory was to have fallen in love for the first time at 15 years old. (Melody Maker's interview by Chris Welch 1970)He said that he learnt love for the first time at that time and that he was feelings that rose to the heaven. He had just met Charlotte at that time, and fell into ardent love with her with surprising swiftness.

The famed writer Chris Welch came to Jimmy's Pangbourne Boathouse (where Jimmy and Charlotte were living together in those days) to interview. Jimmy complained that conservative old people of Pangbourne did not think his long hair to be good. However, he said the following. too,

''If Charlotte loves me sincerely, I will not worry about anything''

They had a daughter soon. The relationship between them continued for ten years or more though they were not legally married.

(I think that this was based on her idea. Because Jimmy had spoken about this in the interview once before)

They were both very beautiful and attractive. I am very regrettable that there are few photographs that were together with when they were young.

If Jimmy took her here and there in the 70's and it was taken in the photograph, I'm sure they became one of the most perfect couples in Rock music scene. However, it is not Jimmy's favorite lifestyle.(lol) Because he is a person who wants to protect his privacy in above all.

I'd have to dig into my books about Jimmy and Jackie Deshannon. They did record some songs together, including Don't Turn Your Back On Me, and were a working musical partnership for time. But I'd have to go digging for any articles that they were romantically involved. That said, I seem to recall that they were. But that might be recollections of rumors, so I won't state it as fact. Maybe I'll dig into my books later and post the appropriate passage. ;)

I heard Jackie sings the backing on his two singles. I have a poster with her talking about him on the back:

"He showed up at a recording session with paint on his jeans and he was the youngest player in the room. I went over to him to play a few of my piddling cords and he when played them back to me, I was almost knocked out of the room. Even than, he was spectacular. He wanted to split from the music world because he was getting disillusioned. Jimmy wanted to go to Cornwall or the Channel Islands and sell pottery. He couldn't stand the business, the strain and I couldn't stand his dream of quietness so we split, but I guess he's changed a lot since then."

Jimmy talks about how they got together on the CD of the 1977 interview that is from the Press Reports book:

"We got together afterwards ...she said I've got a copy of Bob Dylan's new album if you'd like to hear it" and I said "Would I like to hear it?" and he giggles so cutely like he does.

I always thought Jackie DeShannon was a big love of his life too.

"When I was recording in England I was looking for a really good acoustic player", DeShannon tells it today. " I heard there was this new kid who had been playing around a lot. So I played him...my little riff, which I was very picky about ...But Jimmy played it back to me, of course ten times better, and it was perfect. " Marianne Faithfull has written how Page, who occasionally backed up on her records, was "very dull in those days". But love or lust was in the air and Page and DeShannon, young kids let loose in the magical world of the music industry, became an item, having what Faithfull called " a very hot romance" in a an adjoining hotel room while she was on tour.

Jimmy Page and Jackie DeShannon were together for most of 1965, it seems (something of an accomplishment in the bed-hopping whirl of Swinging London), and she even escorted him on his first trip to America,..................

From the book Magus, Musician, Man by George Case

and from the same book:

......At her most persuasive, Page's muse encouraged him to record a single under his own name, which came out on the Fontana label in February 1965 , titled "She Just Satisfies", backed with an instrumental called "Keep Movin'"......

:D I started to read this book a couple of weeks ago...

Thank you for your information, dear everyone.

I have been thinking that Jimmy's ''serious relationships'' were only three girls, are Charlotte,Patricia and Jimena up to now. However, I will have to add Jackie to them now.

When I examine those time, his each relationship with these four women didn't overlap.

I think he is basically shy and cowardly person to serious love.

His mother Patricia also testified about it in the first Led Zeppelin biography published in 1976(written by Richie Yorke)

Of course, I am recognizing he sometimes had some relationships with notorious groupies, too. But they will never enter matters of weight in his life.

It's really hard to get used to 'well adjusted family man' Jimmy Page, a guy who was once described as an aloof pagan, the eternal enigma.

I think he has very complex character.

It seemed He wanted others to think that he was an odd person.

I personally think he only intentionally used the black magic for the glamorous image.

Robert had referred it in the interview in the middle of 80's. ''Jimmy liked to be seen from others in an opposite image. He is a really quiet man and likes Cricket game in reality. But it is not that I must say.''

What is known about Lynne Collins, the girl Jimmy stole from Steven Tyler on one of Zeps first tours? Steven also elludes to this in his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame introduction speech.

I heard that girl was a young brunette who was living with S.Tyler at early period of 1969. But nothing about her had known in general.

Steven might have made a speech on the half ..joke.. half as a bitter memory.

Anyway, I guess she was one of the one night stnads for Jimmy at that time.

I don't think the relationship survived that trip to America (March 1965). Jackie married Bud Dain in January 1966.

I was watching the VH1 Legends on Zep recently, and Robert mentions his first meeting with Jimmy when he first went to his house. He said something like a girl opened the door who was "scantily clad and gorgeous". Was that Lynne Collins? I don't think I've seen a pic of her.

I believe they are officially married, but not 100% certain. I can tell you that I have looked at several photos from the recent past and he does not wear a wedding ring, or at least he does not wear a wedding ring during photo shoots.

An interesting question.

I was wondering that too. I've never seen a picture of her either.

It was in the summer of 1968 that Robert visited Jimmy's house for the first time.

But it was in early 1969 that Jimmy stole Lynne Collins from S.Tyler.

Therefore, the girl is regarded as the another person.

I think Jimmy had some (girl)friends to spend free time together in those days.

He broke up with Jackie DeShannon and had not met Charlotte Martin yet.

No, Jimmy is currently married to Jimena Gomez-Paratcha and have 3 children.

I also think so!

Look at two pics from the left. These are from Led Zep 02concert and were taken by Scarlet Page.

Jimmy looks very happy from the bottom of his heart.

He is sure to be managing a happy home life. And he is on good terms with ex-wives and moreover he welcomed his first grandchild last autumn.

My only wish is that he restarts the music activity early.

No, as I understand it that was an English girl Jimmy was entertaining, not Lyn Collins.

There is a b&w photo of Lyn with Jimmy and Robert in Mill Valley (North of the Golden

Gate Bridge) published in Richard Cole's 'Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin Uncensored'

Book. It appears to have been taken in Summer 1969 (unconfirmed).

There is a photo of them seated together in the Montreal airport terminal (1970) in my Zeppelin Mysteries thread.

Thanks! Not sure how I missed that. Just went and looked. Not the best picture if people are curious about what she looked like, but a picture nonetheless.

So I noticed. I didn't know it was taken there and guessed earlier that it was taken in March 1970 - way off, since if it's from Montreal it must be taken on April 13, 1970. :D

Thank you. I probably have seen that photo before.

I would like to see more their photos in the 70's.

Eric Clapton described Charlotte as follows in his autobiography,

''She was very beautiful in an austere way, classically French, with long legs and an incredible figure, but it was her eyes that got on me.

They were slightly Asian with a downward slant, and a little bit sad.

Charlotte was an incredible girl, more interested in films, art and literature than in modeling, and we had a great time together.''

But I had read the article somewhere that Led Zep ex- tour manager Richard Cole described Charlotte as 'aloof, unfriendly and indifferent woman'.

Does he write such a thing in his own book? I am confused a little.

I have not read his book and Hammer of The Gods, because Zeppelin side never admits these books.
