  1. Here is a link (below) to demos of my melodies & lyrics for various unfinished Jimmy Page instrumentals: First, Jimmy's “Embryo” instrumentals from the “It Might Get Loud” movie & extras. “Embryo 1” is the one called “Untitled” (to be titled later...), with an original lyric and melody by me. “Embryo 2” (a.k.a “Domino” from Jimmy’s performance at NetAid in 1999) is the one entitled Fhear a’ Bhata - here I adapted a traditional lyric and reworked the melody to fit Jimmy’s instrumental - there is a version of the the original by Sandy Denny - though I learned the song from Gordon Bok, Ed Trickett, and Ann Mayo Muir. “Embryo 3” is the one titled “Thrown Down...” - this is my original lyric and melody. The instrumentals were downloaded from YouTube and JimmyPage.com, and are, of course, Jimmy’s work and NOT mine. My newest demo is of my original lyrics & melody for Jimmy Page's "Summer's Day" acoustic instrumental, re-titled here in my version as "Summer's Day (Eclipse)" . Once again, I have dubbed my vocals over Jimmy's instrumental, here downloaded from JimmyPage.com... ONLY THE VOCALS ARE MINE - THE GUITAR IS JIMMY'S (OF COURSE !). 2. Hello, I am trying to learn Key to the highway / Trouble in mind from the LZIII Companion Disc on guitar and vocals. I am still a newbie, so I can't pull it off by ear. Does anyone know the: - guitar tuning? I've read open G but I'm not sure. - chords (or tabs looks more like it) - lyrics? (I know the lyrics to the standard, but Robert throws in a few working ad libs for justice ("I eat my breakfast...") I'd greatly appreciate any help you guys and girls could offer! Thanks in advance. PS: Used the search function to no avail. If this has been already asked and answered, please feel free to delete.
  3. Robert Plant said that he thinks he was "working out what I was trying to say" with the lyrics and apparently, he has never been satisfied with the results. I've always wondered--why then didn't he rewrite them later? I mean, Page didn't play the same solos all the time...if I were Plant, this is what I'd do/have done: Changed the persona of the woman who appears in the beginning of the lyrics, or gotten rid of her altogether. It's a portrayal of a shallow, manipulative person; it's unpleasant. Then, the same woman or another woman (?) appears at the end of the lyrics as a beneficent and perhaps magical creature. If this is the same woman, how did this transformation happen? It doesn't make sense...The lyrics seem to indicate a split perception of women by Plant, as either shallow and degraded on the one hand, or magical, transcendent, idealized visions on the other. I could psychoanalyze this, but I won't. The best parts of the lyrics are the mystical parts-- "In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven" "our shadows taller than our soul;" the quirky "If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now. It's just a spring clean for the May-Queen," and also, the seemingly Tolkien-influenced: ""There's a feeling I get when I look to the west and my spirit is crying for leaving. In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the threes and the voices of those who stand looking." I find those parts to be quite vivid. As far as I'm aware, the band just went along with what Plant wrote. I always like to get feedback on my writing and it's beneficial to most writers.

  6. I have recently joined this forum (29 NOV 2012, 1st Post - 01 DEC 2012) - and perhaps I need to introduce myself... I have been writing songs (and playing guitar a bit...) since I was fifteen, and have recently come to the conclusion that singer-songwriter should have been my career all along... By way of introduction to my work, below is a link to demos of my melodies & lyrics for Jimmy Page’s “Embryo” instrumentals from the “It Might Get Loud” movie & extras. (I do have a little guitar piece of my own I might post later when I figure out how to record it...) Also on the way later are two more lyrics and melodies for instrumentals of Jimmy’s, and a song I wrote which is at present a cappella, for which I may make a video....
