  1. It's that time of year football fans! Preseason is finally over and Week 1 of the 2017 Regular Season begins next Thursday. We have been doing this for five years now, so everyone should know the drill by now. If any newcomers wish to join in the contest, please do...the more the merrier. No worries about the point spread. Just pick the team you think will win the game. Please remember to get your Thursday pick in before the Thursday game kicks off. All the other games for the week can wait until Saturday...Sunday morning before kickoff at the latest. Walter Junior was the Regular Season winner last year. Mrs. W won the Playoff Pool. Spread the word to your friends and neighbors. Let's get a good crowd of participants this year and let's have some fun! Of course, if your team signed Jay Cutler as QB, fun may be hard to come by. Best of luck to you all. Week 1 Thursday, Sept. 7 All Times E.S.T. Kansas City at New England 8:30 pm Sunday, Sept. 10 N.Y. Jets at Buffalo 1:00 pm Atlanta at Chicago 1:00 pm Baltimore at Cincinnati 1:00 pm Pittsburgh at Cleveland 1:00 pm Arizona at Detroit 1:00 pm Jacksonville at Houston 1:00 pm Tampa Bay at Miami 1:00 pm Oakland at Tennessee 1:00 pm Philadelphia at Washington 1:00 pm Indianapolis at L.A. 2. 2016 NFL PLAYOFF CONTEST

Okay...after a chance to catch my breath, I am back with the NFL Playoff Pool for this 2015-16 season. Same thing as the regular season, only because there are so few games, you must pick the total score of each game as well as picking which team you think will win. The scores will be used as tie-breakers if needed. Here are the first round weekend's games: Wild Card Weekend Sat. Jan. 9 AFC: #5 Kansas City @ #4 Houston 4:35pm ET AFC: #6 Pittsburgh @ #3 Cincinnati 8:15pm ET Sun. Jan. 10 NFC: #6 Seattle @ #3 Minnesota 1:05pm ET NFC: #5 Green Bay @ #4 Washington 4:40pm ET
  3. NFL 2015: Predictions Game

As the preseason kicks off on August 9th, less than a month away, I figured it was time to get the thread started for this year. I've been away from the board for awhile so I don't know if you did it last year but here are the rules anyway. Pick the winner of all regular season games on a week by week basis. Picks must be submitted before the game(s) start. If a game ties it doesn't count as either a win or a loss by the poster. Unless you picked them to tie, but who's going to do that? Highest percentage of accurate picks wins the seasons. However, you must guess at least 3/4 of the games for the overall season or it doesn't count. No punishment for missing a week here or there and no reward for having one great week and then quitting till the end. That's all. If anybody wants to do preseason picks we can go ahead and start but they won't count towards the end of the year score. Also, just for kicks, let's pick the 12 playoffs teams to see who gets the most right. Post pre-season Superbowl picks too if you want.
  4. In memory of our football-loving sister-in-arms, I dedicate this thread to pottedplant. I also think it would be a nice gesture if all of us who participate in the pool pick Brett's beloved New Orleans Saints every week. I intend to do so, but I won't make it mandatory for the rest of you...it's only a suggestion. Here are the opening week's games with the latest Las Vegas Hilton point spreads. Week 1 Thursday, September 4 Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks (-5.5) Sunday, September 7 New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons (-1) Minnesota Vikings at St. Louis Rams (-6.5) Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers (-6) Jacksonville Jaguars at Philadelphia Eagles (-11) Oakland Raiders at New York Jets (-5) Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens (-2.5) Buffalo Bills at Chicago Bears (-6) Washington Redskins at Houston Texans (-2.5) Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs (-5.5) New England Patriots (-4) at Miami Dolphins Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Bucs (pick 'em) San Francisco 49ers (-5) at Dallas Cowboys Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos (-7) Monday, September 8 New York Giants at Detroit Lions (-4) San Diego Chargers at Arizona Cardinals (-3) No rush to get your picks in...just get 'em in before the first game. Good luck.
  5. 2013 NFL Thread

Now that the 2013 season schedule is out, free agency is in full swing, and the draft looms this evening, it is time for a 2013 NFL thread. Especially since the 2013 season officially began weeks ago. Time to forget last year and start pondering our teams prospects for this year. Thanks to their recent stupefying moves, the Oakland Raiders and New York Jets have shattered the old record for the earliest date of being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. The previous record was 'Draft Day', shared by multiple teams who eliminated themselves on that day thru idiotic picks: Cincinnati drafting Akili Smith, San Diego drafting Ryan Leaf, Cleveland drafting Tim Couch, Oakland drafting...well, practically every draft they've had for the past 10 years. But now, given recent developments, the Jets and Raiders have eliminated themselves weeks before the draft...thus saving their fans any need to spend ponderous hours watching the draft. Leaving the immature freakshow behind and getting back to planet Earth and the grown-up table of the NFL, what does the draft portend for your team and the season as a whole? Who will move up...or move down? What will Kansas City do? Are they any quarterbacks in this draft that you can see being an NFL starter? Geno Smith? Matt Barkley? I'm not so sure about them. Will Dallas again be overrated by the pundits and overexposed by the TV networks? Which quarterback will start showing signs of slippage and old age first: Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, or Tom Brady? Can Seattle and San Francisco keep it up? Can Green Bay regroup and regain their Super Bowl-winning form? Will Baltimore be a one-and-done team following their cost-cutting moves? Are the Roethlisburger-Palomalu era Steelers finished as we knew them? Will Buffalo ever find a quarterback? Will Kansas City ever be relevant again? When will the League come to its senses and just eliminate Jacksonville and Carolina from the NFL? Will ESPN's Skip Bayless ever stop talking about Tim Tebow? Discuss...
