Stairway to Heaven Unused Solos

Recommended Posts

When Jimmy Page was recording the guitar solo for Stairway to Heaven, there were three takes, one of which is the one on the album. Does anyone know where I can find audio of the other two solos? It would be interesting to hear how the the solo evolved. Also, any other Stairway to Heaven rehearsals or outtakes would be appreciated.

Hello, see the thread here, http://forums.ledzep...ay-solo-rumour/

I have not heard of the three studio overdub solos circulating, here are two solos that I have heard. One is from the original recording/demo stages of Stairway (Headley Grange Studios, Hampshire, England Jan.'71), and the other is a (sometimes disputed and unknown origin) alternate solo along with an alternate mix of the album version.

^ Almost everyone has made a duplicate thread by mistake. It's not that hard especially since the search bar seems to miss or bury things (at least it seems that way when I've tried it).

The album version is legions better than either of these two. Still worth a listen to though. ;)

^ I agree, but it's fun/interesting to listen to what it sounded like in the early stages. That first track is my favorite demo of Stairway.

Thanks publicenemy3. Very interesting, and with some great footage to go along with it.

Sorry, about that. I should have looked around more before I started a new thread.

I'm glad you posted this because I haven't seen the duplicate. Besides, if you type in "Stairway To Heaven" or "Solo" or "Bootlegs" or anything else in your tags the search bar will likely give you every thread on the forum in your results. I'm not very good at computers though so there may be a better way.

Yeah, the search function is pretty inconsistent. I once typed in "Jimmy Page amp settings" and got ten or eleven threads. I searched it again, and I got three!
