Led Zeppelin to do a Live streaming service

Recommended Posts

I saw this article on Twitter on Led Zeppelin News.  Looks like what we all may be hoping for. Multiple Live show releases available to stream

At first I checked the date to make sure it wasn't April 1. If this is true, HALLELUJAH! It's about time.

Sooo the question being is there going to be shows we have never heard?? And do you think JP will use MM recordings and others who risked their lives to bring the recordings to the masses? They won't let us download, even for a price. . Ohh the possibilities!!:):):)

Seems cool and interesting but I would not get any serious hopes up.   You can try floating a balloon, but how long will it stay up in the air?

I don't really see people spending money and streaming like this, especially with many poor recordings live.   I'm not really all that keen with the term Led Zeppelin Experience.  It sounds a bit cheesy and un-original ; in the sense the term has always been associated with Jimi Hendrix Experience.   Zeppelin deserves it's own throne in terms of words and phrases like that.

I guess this will make a lot of fans happy.

On the other hand, does this mean there will be no physical releases (CD & Vinyl)??? For me this would be a HUGE letdown. I simply can`t enjoy music via my laptop and those shitty sounding speakers. Also, I can´t connect my laptop with my hifi system, which may be a little old but very good, no optical or digital input available.

God, I hope they will release CDs & vinyl sets. If not, there is hope that the live-stream will be bootlegged. NON DOWNLOADABLE- I don´t think they get away with that nowadays......

I may have to use a tape recorder 1980 style to record as it plays, lol

Haha, live taping right in the living room, with one big advantage: we know when to flip the tape.

Goddamn, need to connect the laptop with my amplifier somehow.........

The Stones have their live archive releases, why can´t LZ do a proper job as well?

I'm sure there must be a way to record or create a torrent from a live stream.  Hell we put a man on the moon and that was 50 years ago,  lol

The non-downloadable part is a little concerning to me. Couldn't that just mean that these shows could be available for a limited amount of time and then just disappear back into the vault? I mean I'd assume that there would be some sort of way to save the streams, but still it makes me wonder.

I seriously doubt that they're going to put up subpar recordings. This is Page we're talking about. No way in hell he'd stream something like, say, the Bath 1970 audience recordings. I only hope that this is either a) stuff we've never heard before or b) upgrades to things we've already heard (ex. a previously uncirculating soundboard).

Regardless, I'm excited to see what will come from this.

Yeah mate. Where there’s a will there’s a way. The official line will be that it’s not downloadable....but there are some very smart IT savvy people out there. I’ll be investing in a turntable/stereo system soon (an extra man-cave I mean room will be added to the house over the next year).

I’ll then start collecting vinyl. Is there such a thing as a stereo system that will play vinyl that also has Bluetooth capabilities (to link to the laptop)? I’m not very savvy with stuff like this

Download a free DAW and set it to record the incoming signal.

Not to be negative everyone is already taking about all sorts of crazy stuff...believe me I’d love it too but the first line of the post says “...may be working on...”.  🙄

No downloads is less than ideal, but this is potentially very exciting news.  Being able to listen to live Zep in a format like Spotify (say) is still great.  (I'm assuming this means Page would be opening up the vaults.)

Incredibly exciting, something worthy of the 50th.

Yeah I debated over how to word the headline for a while (It started out as "Led Zeppelin is working on"). But what we actually know for sure is what they're trying to trademark. It's a pretty clear indication of the band's intent, but we don't know for sure that The Led Zeppelin Experience is in active development right now. Either way, the band is certainly investing a lot of time and money on having the legal framework in place to launch this service.

One thing to mention which didn't make it into the article: Led Zeppelin has hired one of the best intellectual property lawyers in the US to get this trademark. The UK company they used to file the original application has been dropped, and they've now hired a specialist US firm which has assigned a partner with 30 years of experience to personally handle Led Zeppelin's filings. To me, that's a pretty clear sign of intent (and financial backing) for this project, and shows the band is aware that the clock is ticking on their future plans.

"And first up, we have a release of the popular Mike Millard AUD tape layered with the previously unheard Soundboard, professionally mixed and treated at a high end London studio of the LA Forum gig, June 21, 1977".....

Well, at least it's possible.

...but seriously, I hope this possible program delivers the promise that it could well be something really good.

Yeah and then they steam it lossy and ruin it anyway.

Oh , a glass is half empty type eh? 😏  I would gladly take a clear, mastered matrix aud/sbd mp3 any day over any lossless audience tape. Those already are plentifully available. Most hardcore fans have lossless audience transfers. I love how quickly people start with the negative vibes. Anyway, this sounds like real pie in the sky, but we shall see....🤔

I just had a thought. Pretty obvious question....but they will charge for the streaming, right?

if they didn’t would this get around the need to pay royalties....and hence leave the shows intact?

I'd say it will be pay. Maybe a subscription based model that entitles you to ongoing content. Which is fine with me if it not mostly fluff, "exclusive" interviews where nothing new is really discussed, and live stuff no better than what is already available AND the pricing is not harsh. I am not a man with a lot of disposable income. heavy pricing will be MOST annoying. But I'll remain optimistic and picture something that will be worthwhile and offer new live stuff or stuff that is already out there being vastly improved (average audience recording turns into top notch Soundboard for example)

I really hope there is something Page can create and release to represent the '77 North America tour. While I was being a bit cheeky with the LA Forum run idea, the point of that is - it is possible. However unlikely. So be positive people! You just never know....

I would think Wolfgang's Vault would be a good example/blueprint for what Led Zeppelin want to do.
