Kings of Leon and the Mars Volta

The Mars Volta are killer in the studio, but rather hard to listen to live... they have alot of extended "noise" jams and the vocals are usually really off... albums are awesome tho

Nothing new really, I just like to re-visit things I haven't put on in a while. The early Judas Priest is something I found interesting. Porcupine Tree is a really good one (new music) and I also just discovered a band on this site called Endora's Mask. Really impressive stuff, solid rock! Also King Crimson is another gem I re-discovered.

King Crimson is bad-ass

I've got/had/have heard pretty much all that you recommended there..., I was leaning more towards newer stuff like the 90's and onward..., but I will try Kevin Ayers and Soft Machine, whom I've never heard of/

P.S. I'm convinced we are the same person.

Possible. And good.

You can give Bright Eyes a try. They're good, some don't like them, but they're pretty cool. You'll need to get "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning." Here's a song from it.

You should check out "The Sword". They are kind of a black sabbath/danzig/early metallica mix. Lots of great heavy riffs. I think they are going to be opening for metallica. I saw them a few years back opening for Trivium, and I thought they were great. They now have 2 albums out.

New music I would say Airbourne has a cool classic rock sound very similar to AC/Dc and speaking of AC/DC they are coming out with a new album.

Ok, I know this is a Zeppelin forum.

Problem is, I grew tired of the old stuff long ago. So I really only listen to new music now. I know a lot of classic rock fans think it's all crap, and if this is your path of thought, please don't post negativity everywhere. I'm always looking for new music, so I thought I'd share some, and maybe get some in return. :D

Sooooooo, new music recommendations? Indie, rock, metal, jazz, even rap and hip hop! Whatever the hell you want, whatever you think is good, post it!

My recommendations:

Stuff Zepheads might like -

Rock:

The Mars Volta, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, The Jai-Alai Savant, Portugal The Man

More indie-style:

The Bird And The Bee, The Parson Red Heads, Sondre Lerche (Dan in Real Life soundtrack, anyone?)

Stuff Zepheads will probably make disgusted faces at -

Hardcore metal, whatever other kinds of metal:

Misery Signals, The Fall of Troy, John Vs. The Machine, Norma Jean, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Circle Takes The Square, A Life Once Lost

Other:

The Dear Hunter, edIT

Post your own! :cheer:

I`m more into the old good stuff but the new rock and metall bands aren`t bad either. My personal recomandations would be:

Revolver (Beatles) --> the album`s great

Nevermind (Nirvana)

Karma & Effect (Seether)

Dark side of the moon & wish you were here (Pink Floyd)

Little Girl Blue (Janis Joplin)

Live Track 1 (black crowes)

Force of Habit (Exodus) etc....

& from classic & jazz artists --> return to forever & Ludovico Einaudi :)

I would suggest Fleet Foxes. It's Seattle band that released their debut album in June 2008. Can't get more current then that, can it? :D They are fuckin' GREAT!

Edit to add another song:

The singer has an incredible voice, I really love it.
