My knowledge when it comes to Zepp is audio boots, definitely not video, and I was looking through this list and found a few intriguing things. I realise the site is out of date, so here goes a couple of questions:

1) Has the full 1975-05-24 footage been liberated yet? I always wondered why they didn't use the 24th That's the Way on the DVD.

2) Holy Grail #4 talks of an 'alternate source' of audio for the Bath Festival, different to the almost unlistenable stuff we have now: "Second, there is an alternate audio source of this show in general circulation. To date only two songs have surfaced ("Heartbreaker" and "That's The Way"), but the sound quality, while not soundboard, is hugely improved from the abysmal complete show tape. Some sources indicate that it is from microphones strung above the stage for a recording to accompany the film footage, perhaps to augment a feed from the soundboard. This audio could also be from a low-grade camera microphone recording, and at the very least seems to indicate the existence of a decent audience tape of this incredible show."

I've not found any other mention of this other aud. source or any evidence of it on R-O, Dime, etc. Is it really circulating?

3) Any other words on the jam with Fairport Convention, or does the article detail everything we know about that?

Possible answer to:

1. That's the Way 5/24/75 - COULD BE that the multitrack tape ran out or Page, Plant & Jones liked more the 5/25 as the official version.

2. There at this time about 3 or 4 different sources. The first and known source is the audience that circulated long time ago, with the horrible sound. The second known source is a more recent of Heartbreaker and That's the Way, recorded from the audience. But, there is known that it was recorded professionally either in multitrack (source #3) and/or soundboard (source #4). At least one of the last two were confirmed to exist by Page when discovering Led Zeppelin content to the 2003 releases. He didn't bought Bath because of the high price.

IMHO, I don't think that Bath is going to surface through bootlegs. Page knows who has it, and maybe, if it happens, his lawyers will get their checks sooner.

3. If Polygram had made an inventory and clean their vaults, surely they found it, but is not going to be released by the band because it was not intended for a public release.

The second source with "Heartbreaker and That's The Way" are really not to recent. they have been around in circulation for a good 20 years....

Yep, the source for these better sounding tracks was a rare boot compilation LP on the Krishna label. However I thought there was a consensus that the upgrade (first gen?) Bath tape that got circulated a few years ago,  sounded identical to the two tracks on the Krishna LP..

Yes !  That Iceland footage on the DVD is so tantalizing.  It being in Black and White adds to the mystique.

Frolics was two towns over at Salisbury Beach and to my knowledge, Zeppelin never played there. They did play at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom in Aug 1969, the 27th I believe.

Bumping this.

So after listening for the millionth time to LTTE Kashmir, I'd have to say the ultimate holy-grail would be a very clear soundboard of that gig. Mix it with Eddie, and you have the BEST representation of 1977 Led Zeppelin available. Also Possibly the strongest (best) delivery of a single track by the band in their history.

That song, performed on that day, is unmatched by anything.

Yes indeed.  For me that track pretty much defines 1977.  It is the first live version I ever heard and what struck me at first was all the killer guitar. Only knowing the studio track I was not expecting so much guitar.   A very different style for Jimmy compared to other live material and so cool.  The other thing that struck me was Plant - he is so magnificent in this version.  In particular, 13:48- 13:55 in the clip below. (Also 14:40-14:45)  And of course Jones and Bonham are beyond compare

And the outtro guitar somehow manages to go yet another level up. Beyond the stratosphere. That one low note he hits between the insane runs alone is worth the price of admission.

I'll have to suss it again. My bootleg ears are not as robust as they should be. I always go back to 21st for the Millard recording quality.

OK, Bonham is off the hook on the 22nd. He is absolutely killing every fill. Unbelievable. But unless a better quality audio is released, I'll stick with 21st.

YES !  Even if we could just get Celebration Day from that show in the quality of How the East Was Won.  Another one - Celebration Day Orlando 71 in the same quality as the beginning of that show.
