Jimi Hendrix - 'Johnny B.Goode' (live at Berkeley)

Jerry Lee Lewis - 'Me and Bobby McGee' (bootleg of a live show at the Hammersmith

Odeon,London)

Little Richard - 'Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On' (live British TV broadcast from

the early sixties)

Ry Cooder - 'Dark Was The Night' (Maybe a bit of a cheat this one,but listen to the

soundtrack of the film 'Paris,Texas' and you'll know what I mean)

The Cramps - 'The Way I Walk'/'Domino'/'Lonesome Town'/'Green Door',etc,etc. (Again

probably another cheat, but pick any one of the above because The Cramps

What a first recording session that proved to be.As I'm sure you know Rover, also recorded that day were 'Dark Was The Night','Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed'(not totally unrelated to 'In My Time Of Dying'),'Motherless Children Have A Hard Time'(recorded years later as 'Motherless Children' by Eric Clapton),and two gospel/blues standards 'I Know His Blood Can Make Me Whole' and 'If I Had My Way I'd Tear The Building Down'.Has there ever been a better debut session than that?
