I walked all the way there from the train station (several miles) on the hottest day of the summer, mostly on roads with no footpath risking life and limb as articulated lorries (trucks) screamed past me! I read somewhere there was a massive police and security presence but only 8 drenched fans turned up to watch the coffin arrive at the church. Don't know if they kept it maintained regularly or what. The pictures you post here are amazing and thank you so much for sharing. Sounds like a fantastic journey. Were you alone? I went with a friend (fellow LZ fan from Chelmsford) and it was cold & rainy for days. We also visited Little John's grave on the same trip. Long, long day. There are no markings whatsoever, even on the path up to the church, there is no indication there is even a church...it's certainly not a place one is going to stumble upon but if I can find his grave - anyone can - as I am notorious for getting lost. It's basically a long road and a right turn, if one was driving in a car I think it would be easy to miss the turn. I took some video footage of me placing some sticks on the gravesite. We had planned on going to Bron-Yr-Aur as well but the weather got to us and we ran out of time. Maybe another time. Yes it was peaceful. And beautiful. I looked into going to Bron-Yr-Aur but I don't think I'd attempt that one without a car. Headly Grange would be cool, too. I used GPS to find Bonham's Grave (I actually only saw one other person on foot the entire journey, so couldn't have asked for directions if I had needed to) but I don't like relying on it a 100% because often googlemaps will take you via the less direct route or there will be roads missing, etc & I've come unstuck a few times. Coming at it from the direction I was (from the Droitwich Spa train station) it's hard to get lost once you get on the A442 as it's just one, long winding road for a few hours (& traffic coming at you at in excess of 60mph) Anyway, this was the route I took: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The walk up to the church after I got off the main road was nice. The rest of the walk was like walking on a busy highway/motorway....pretty noisy.
