Administrators sam_webmaster Posted October 29, 2008 Administrators Share Posted October 29, 2008 The Song Remains the Same: Led Zeppelin - 40 Years Gone Thursday, November 20 - 7:30 pm The Barbour Room, The Sage Gateshead Purchase Tickets Archivist and documentary maker Chris Phipps hosts this special event which will consider the roots, influences and un-paralleled self-indulgence of four musicians. Also discussing the myth that is Led Zeppelin is the multi award-winning music director Dick Carruthers who produced and directed the groundbreaking 2003 'Led Zeppelin: DVD' (the biggest selling music DVD of all time). It will be complemented by a screening of the band's legendary concert film 'The Song Remains The Same'. There will be a taped interview with Dick Carruthers (occurring soon), who will discuss the recent dvd production of "The Song Remains the Same". Fans can post questions for Carruthers here in this thread - Three questions will be chosen for the taped interview and shown at the upcoming event on Nov. 20th. The focus doesn't seem so iron clad to me. Anyway, TSRTS is so well dissected and documented, anything I wanted to know about it has already been discussed. I'd love to have the O2 on LP though. Does the band as a collective entity want you to produce more videos for them in the future? Could the TSRTS been made into a "real documentary" from leftover footage of the 1973 tour? And, thank you for excellant vision, taste, and spirit in presenting Led Zeppelin (again, and hopefully again, wink, wink). Do outtakes, unseen/unreleased footage, or still photos from the three nights at MSG in ’73 that weren't included in TSRTS exist? Are there additional scenes of the audience and of the LZ members backstage that were edited out and saved in archives? Does the original concert footage that was replaced by the scenes that were filmed at Shepperton still exist? Did the band get picky about how they looked in shots, was that a big consideration for how the movie was cut (and is it true that that's why they don't wanna release the O2 footage?). SteveAJones Posted October 31, 2008 Share Posted October 31, 2008 The shot of Jimmy alongside the moat at Plumpton Place reveals an all-seeing eye on his shirt in the center of his back, just before he turns to face the camera with red eyes. The next shot of Peter Grant shows him on the telephone at Horselunges Manor, and there is an all seeing eye in the tapestry above his head. I happen to believe TSRTS is an occult film. Was there anything that was planned for Jimmy's section but deemed to "dark" to do? Or unable to do due limitations with budget or time restraints. What was the most difficult thing that was encountered while making the movie? What is the biggest Myth about the film that you can debunk? Many believe she is the younger sister of Robert's wife at the time, while others insist she is merely a member of the audience.
