  2. those are both good shows. I often get slightly melancholy listening to the last tour. I find myself putting way too much thought towards what they were all thinking and maybe should just realize they were a band playing music together that they loved, and making new music together with that same emotional connection. They were all probably excited about the coming decade and wanted to go out prove that they were still to be counted and considered.
  3. The Third Eye owner/videographer is a friend of mine. I purchased his original cover art mock-ups for the VHS releases. They just sit in a box like most things but it's cool to review them from time to time. He still tells a great story on how he was able to videotape the '96 Japan shows. We've also discussed all the pro-shot Page/Plant stage footage, and it's a shame that it was last seen moldering in a San Francisco warehouse for reasons that are an equally good story.
  4. Early in the concert, right between songs, Robert quipped, "The Old Devils are Back!" which was a magazine headline at the time. The Page/Plant era now seems nearly a lifetime ago, because it was, but it's a real cornucopia of memories whenever I'm reminded of those days.
  5. +1 I feel very fortunate to have been able to see some of the shows throughout those amazing years. Able to get some boots of the shows and re-live it to some extent, why they didn’t release one or more years ago is slightly strange to me. I for some reason believe that after Robert parted ways, he was almost shedding that skin again and perhaps didn’t want to further the association or partnership and capitalize on the 5-6 years that he had just finished. All pointless speculation on my part, can’t help but think it was a missed opportunity regardless of whoever was not willing to allow it to happen. I suppose it’s possible that Jimmy and Robert simply never talked about putting anything out for those amazing shows. It was an amazing experience, and time and the memories of those shows are still fresh in my rapidly aging memory.
  6. Congrats to the winner! Out of my price range haha

  10. I got some UV glasses on Amazon that are safe for the eclipse. Wish we were having a total eclipse in my area, but no such luck. It will be about 91-2 percent, which isn't bad. Interesting fact is that temperature will drop about 10 degrees during this.
  11. ^^ It's like Evil Bunny should meet Evil Puppy from Late Night with Conan....
  12. It's funny how different listeners like different things about Zep, but that's what makes us all unique. Apples and oranges, as they say. I personally would give this No Quarter an A++. The vibe is right. What you call "sleepy" is what I call laid back and fluid, which for me is the perfect approach for this song (talking specifically here about Page's solo). Regarding this particular version, the crowd was pretty rowdy to the point of concerning Plant and Page. I believe they played this extremely laid back version as a way to chill them out. I think JPJ was taking his sweet time noodling around in the beginning for this very reason. But the guitar solo itself is fantastic and one of my favorites for this song. Regarding the show itself, it has my vote for best show of March. Plant himself is in fantastic voice but unfortunately is popping and cracking all over the place, which is a huge detractor for me. I'm sure it was even more frustrating for him because when he's on (in between voice cracks), he sounds absolutely fantastic.
  13. It's not even Thursday yet, and I just find out the Mets home opener has been postponed because of rain. That sucks...
  14. The way it is going, my autumn Sundays will become a lot more free. I already watch record-low levels of baseball and basketball...I haven't watched a full Lakers game in two years. If the NFL wants to head down the flag-football road, it will be very easy for me to cut the cord on them, too.
  15. March 20, 1980 John Bonham jams with Sub-Zero
