Pet Peeves

My pet peeve today was people thinking that a green light only comes once in a blue moon and they have to drive at the speed of light to catch it.

Funny, I'm the complete opposite. I can't stand people who slow down at a green light. Like it's going to skip yellow and go right to red.

Even worse, are people who totally cut you off and then drive slowly. I want to ram them off the road.

I also can't stand when people pull up to a mailbox (the big blue ones near the post office) and then decide to put stamps on their letters. Do it at home so the people behind you don't have to wait.

Exhale. I'm done ranting.

^It's kind of like the little old ladies who wait until their entire grocery order is rang up, then they spend about 20 minutes writing their checks. Then they write their checks like they're in a penmanship contest--they will rip up a check if they've mis-formed a letter! Grrr!

(I used to work in a grocery store, I earned the right to complain.)

I also cannot stand it when people come to a COMPLETE stop before turning. I'm talking about turning onto a new street, like turning right. It drives me freaking crazy, come on dude, you don't have to STOP before you turn into that parking lot!

Links to video that appear as such.......

...as opposed to (a bit more elegant) using the insert link functionality, at least you know what you are getting.....

Hi JethroTull,

How do you make your links appear that way?

I have been trying to figure it out.

Please give detailed directions and I promise I will never post links the other way again! :)

This is how I do it......

Step 1 - COPY the artist and song from the youtube description and PASTE it to the end of the video URL appearing in the URL location. Like this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiXcqxms3BsDeep Purple "Hush" from Playboy After Dark

Step 2 - COPY the http address/video description combination.

Step 3 - Use the "Insert Link" functionality when creating a post on the Zeppelin chat forum.

Step 4 - When the "Please enter the full URL" popup appears, PASTE what you copied in Step 2.

Step 5 - Here is the slightly tricky part. CUT the description from the URL you are pasting in the popup.

Step 6 - When the "Please enter the title for this item" popup appears PASTE the description in the box.

Continue and enjoy the fruits of your labor. It's a cutting and pasting exercise, no typing.

BTW, if you Quote my post here you will see the actual HTML that is created for the link below.

...you can also do it this way:

1. [ url =

2. then put the url (ex: www . forums. ledzeppelin. com)

3. after the url do ONE bracket ( ex: ])

4. then put in what you want to name the link (ex: this Zeppelin forum I visit a lot)

4. then do the ending url (ex: [/ url ]

Apparently you can't even do this anymore without the stupid posts being screwed up. I had to add a TON of spaces to get it to work. The thing I hate about this new forum is that you can't even hit "quote" anymore to see how somone posted something.

so it should look like this without the spaces:

[ url= http:// forums. ledzeppelin.com/ index.php?act=idx ] this Zeppelin forum I visit a lot [ / url ]

Here it is without the spaces:

this Zeppelin forum I visit a lot

My link didn't have the correct url. LOL

I thought the url ended at ".com," but it apparently doesn't.

I usually cut and paste the urls, but in my example above (now fixed), I thought I could use a url that I had memorized...apparently, I haven't memorized the url.

Just cutting and pasting the url is a lot easier :P:D

I might try it next time I post a link. If it messes up, I'll know who to complain to ;)

For illustrative purposes ;)

On the post a reply page click insert link, you may get a message to allow popups.

Capture11.jpg

Then paste your copy link into the URL box click ok

Capture12.jpg

Then you can paste or type a title into the next popup box click ok

Capture13.jpg

It should look like this in the reply form, you can preview post to make sure the link works before posting.

Well I can't figure out how to do it and I'm not on a PC so I think those directions don't work. Sorry people, I'll have to post links as I copy them :D Don't hate me :P

B)

Since I work in the computer field, I'll comment on this. This is a typical response from a "user" who does not want to use new functionality provided to them. They just want to do things the same old clumsy way. C'mon ninelives, if you are smart enough to COPY the youtube link, then you can use the insert link functionality. That is unless you are typing every character of the link.

BTW, what does this mean "I'm not on a PC"?
