  1. Re: Tim Horton's employee fired for giving away a timbit (value: 0.16 cents) to a small child. This story has been getting a lot of air time and it's starting to annoy me. Unfortunately, I disagree with the masses that are siding with the employee. First of all her job is to sell coffee and baked goods and NOT give them away for free. It is not her store so she can't give away free stuff whenever she feels like it. Then the public gets involved saying so what, it's only 0.16 cents etc...So it's ok to steal if it's under a certain amount? For me, it's not the value of the friggin' timbit it's the principle. If she wanted to give away the timbit she should have put 0.16 cents into her till. She didn't and that is stealing and trying to justify it by saying it's only 0.16 cents is what's annoying me. If there are going to be rules/laws they need to be followed otherwise why have rules at all? If they're going to bend the rules for her then why not everyone else? I think firing her was unnecessary. That's what I disagree with. They should have spoken to her/given her a warning. After the story came out and media and public got involved, and Tim Horton's has re-hired her. Some people have said this incident has caused them to seek a caffeine fix at another coffee shop....what fools. And this is the other thing that makes me mad. Tim Horton's has become the bad guy and the employee who started this whole thing is the victim.
  2. I've been in an "Alice-in-chains" mode all this week. It's been a while since I've listened to them in depth...sometimes you just gotta go back and look through some of those Cds you haven't listened to for years. You find things in the music you didn't hear the first time around. I've been listening to to the song 'Would?' and it gives me chills. Great band.
  3. I don't agree with spitting/hitting drivers either (although I think some need an attitude adjustment because they are rude and not very helpful) The drivers of the buses and streetcars have the toughest jobs because they deal with the most abuse. At least the subway drivers have a closed off area with a door that locks. I think the person with the university comment meant that some TTC employees make too much money. I agree with this in part. I don't think it's fair that drivers and booth collectors should be making the same amount of money. One faces daily verbal and physical assault with no protection whatsoever while the other sits safely behind a bulletproof glass booth collecting fares and selling tickets. Those guys don't deserve all that money for a job a trained chimp could probably do. Do I think the TTC workers should be paid according to the level of difficulty of their job? Absolutely. Will it ever happen? Never. Am I sick and tired of a strike or threat of a strike every year? Heck yes. Toronto has got to solve this problem. And if making it an essential service is what it takes lets do it and get it over with once and for all. In the end, it's the citizens who will have to pay for this too.
  4. Hey Juliet Luckily all Torontonians can breathe a little easier now and they announced they would reimburse metro pass holders. They said the reason they went on the strike so suddenly was because if they gave notice they were afraid the public would take out their anger on the drivers. Yeah right, like people wouldn't be angry after an impromptu strike that shut the city down for the whole week-end. What a bunch of turds. Not to mention all the stations that were vandalized...I can't say I agree with the vandals but I understand their frustration. One person spray painted "If you want to make $30.00/hour, go to university" in one of the stations. Hope they solve this TTC problem once and for all by making it an essential service. We'll see what happens...
  5. ^ Before ^After (a little computer magic...notice the difference?) Reason I post these pics is just to show with or without a few wrinkles Robert has a charisma and an appeal that age can't change. To me he's just as wonderful in the first pic as he is in the altered version.
  6. Re: TTC strike I'm so sick and tired of all involved with the TTC. Bottom line it's the commuters that suffer. If there is no money they should stop expanding and try to fix the existing problems. Those with Metro Passes are not compensated for the days the TTC is on strike...even though they paid $109.00 for it. What a freaking joke. They refuse the deal proposed cause it didn't suit their needs...even though they are the highest paid in the province. Another complaint I have is that some of the staff and drivers are the rudest people I've ever met. So if they want me to sympathize with them they are going to have to adjust their attitude. Not to mention service is still shitty. I'm so pissed off!
  7. Ok this is going sound weird but me and my best pal were just watching Infomercials! We get a kick out of them.
  8. Most definitely a standout track. I really wish it had another verse as I really love the lyrics.
  9. HECK YES WE WANT MORE!!! I actually let out a squeal when I saw that first one. Thanks a whole bunch!
  10. Didn't know that...not surprising though cause it would have an amazing Zeppelin track. It's a great song and Robert puts his own spin on it. (as always) There's another clip of that same show where they are covering The Cure's 'Lulluby' That's also a great version.
  11. There's one where he's introducing a song ( I believe it was Ten Years Gone) and the audience starts cheering wildly before he finishes and Robert says ''Hang on! Hold it! Wait a minute, I didn't say Jimmy!"
  12. Been reading a lot of Douglas Coupland lately. Great Canadian author with a really distict voice and an ability to create characters you can relate to. Just finished Generation X and am now reading Shampoo Planet.
  13. I forget which show and and the exact quote but Robert is waiting for Jimmy to tune his guitar and makes a quip about how Page's guitar tech is from Scotland and it takes Jimmy longer to tune because he's tuned it in Scottish Always makes me laugh.
  14. The Rain Song. It really is a spectacular song. Every time it rains this song plays in my head...and if I'm home and it's raining, I always play it...what a geek eh?
