  1. Recognize that any good guitarists "sound" is in their fingers and pick usage. However, for the Live 73 USA Page "tone", it doesn't hurt to have gear close to what he had. He used Marshall (EL-34 and not KT88, yet) "Metal Panel" 100 watt Super Leads. The 72/73 versions were a bit brighter than previous years; some of the capacitors were different. Also, the original bridge Pickup in his #1 Les Paul had died just before the USA tour. It was replaced with a Gibson "T-Top", which was also brighter than the PAF it replaced. Other than that, he made extensive use of his volume and tone knobs. For effects, he did use a wah and a tape delay/echo machine.
  2. If JP and JPJ (and Bonham) are on a roll and raring to go, they should. Time is not on their side. It would be much better and great to have RP. If the fill in can blast it and hit the high notes consistently like RP used to be able to do, then there is an upside. Did the singer from Wolfmother move to Florida? LOL. The other two Wolfmother members split recently and, oddly enough, the rumor is that they will be replaced with the bassist/drummer of the Raconteurs. A Jack White side band. Hmm, so maybe HE is available, . . .
  3. I stand corrected. Had just been listenting to HTWWW on my iPod and had it on the brain, literally! AFA the DVD audio tracks, that's a shame. The Earls Court and Knebworth performances have some of my favorite song versions. That alternate WLL section is really different and cool. Thanks Dave
  4. Hey all, A complete newbie here. Love Zep (for years). Do you if there will ever be a CD release of the DVDs live versions? The ones from the 73 MSG gig showed up on re-relase of TSRTS, but how about the others? I'd certainly buy the other ones. Have done some searches of archives here, but seems to gakk on the 2-ltr CD search criteria.
