  1. Houston.

Absolutely had a fantastic time in Houston this past week. All under the auspices of such gracious and good friends, Melanie and Angie.

Good eats. Good drinks. Good company. Good hospitality. Good shopping. Good times. Good memories.

Thank you Melanie and Angie! :notworthy:

And thank you, Houston. Everywhere I went, I was met with that good ole Texas charm and niceness

Aww Strider! We had tons of fun with you! I'm glad you enjoyed Houston. It may be hot down here, but we are a friendly bunch (for the most part).

Safe travels back to Cali, my friend! I can't wait to hear about the show on Wednesday. I'm jealous! :)

  2. I've been meaning to post this. Here's the finished TSRTS-themed still life, which happily now resides in Canada:

And for scale, here it is with the artist:

Thanks for posting this, Virginia! I've been wondering how it turned out. It's absolutely perfect!

  3. :cheer: My husband is coming home from the hospital after being there for 9 days. He had a stroke but he has a good prognosis and only being 39, that will be an advantage in his recovery.

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband, Melanie! Here's to a full recovery! :toast:

  4. I'm taping the festival and can't wait to catch FF!

Strider, I'm a bit late but I just read your review of the LA show. That was a great review and you sound like a fabulous Godfather. For whatever reason, they didn't come to Houston on that tour and I was bummed. I love Wasting Light and can't wait until the next one...whenever that may be. Dave always seems to be busy with all kinds of different projects. I can't wait to check out his Sound City documentary.

  5. Wow...what a great thread this is! Hello Virginia and welcome! I must agree with Deb about dreaming to be you. The whole dreamy Robert sequence is by far my favorite part of TSRTS and I don't care who knows it...lol.

You have a beautiful family and I see you have Cavaliers. I have two myself...that's my youngest in my avatar...Lexi. They are such sweet dogs!

  6. The show last night in Houston was freakin’ awesome! The highlight for me was definitely Moby Dick. I just love how down to earth and sincere Jason comes across. You can just hear the love that he has for his father in his voice and in his words. It sounds corny, but it’s true! I also loved the photos and video clips. I’m just going to adopt Deborah’s review because she was spot on. Of course, I kept waiting for Jason to say “Hi Gigi” but he never did. :DB)

Meeting up with Kat (justawoman) and her husband before the show was so much fun. Seriously, Kat and I had a few drinks and talked about all things Zeppelin for over an hour. It was fantastic! So, thanks Kat for making last night so enjoyable. You and Jaime are our kind of people and we can’t wait to hang out with y'all again. Fun times!

For anyone here who is on the fence about seeing JBLZE, buy your tickets now and GO. You will NOT regret the decision. It was truly one of the best shows I have ever seen!

  7. Going tonight to the Houston show - Woo-Hoo!!!!!!! I'm ready to rock out!!!!!!Hubby and I are going to meet up with Gigi and her husband before the show at Hard Rock. So looking forward to meeting Gigi and talking all things Zep! Can't wait! Will report back manana.

I'm excited too!! We're heading out in a few so we should hit the Hard Rock right on time. Yay!! :P

And, Deborah, if you're reading this, will you check your inbox? It appears to be full and I NEED to chat with you. B)

  8. The last concert I attended was KISS last night. It was actually pretty good and LOUD. Before the band came out, the crowd was getting a little antsy and I said to my friend that they needed to play a Zepp song over the PA to excite everyone. Well, sure enough they played Immigrant Song and the crowd went wild. It was pretty funny! Also, KISS played Whole Lotta Love during their set and again, the crowd went wild. Those were the two highlights of the show for me! :)

  9. Where exactly is the Verizon? Is it down by the Toyota Center? Say you're standing outside the Four Seasons looking toward the Toyota Center which would be on the right, is the Verizon on the left with a big parking lot in between? It's been several years since I've been down there, so my memory may be off. We're going to be staying down Westheimer from the Galleria - hubby has business in Houston that week, very convenient. :P

Hey there! The Verizon is actually on the opposite side of downtown from the Toyota Center. It's in Bayou Place near the Hard Rock Cafe, close the the theatre district. In fact, my husband and I may go to the HRC for a cocktail or two prior to the show. If y'all get to the area early, come in and say hello! Here is a link to Bayou Place:

Be sure to leave with plenty of time to spare. Getting from the Galleria to Downtown during rush hour can sometimes take a while. B)

  10. The Houston Summit was the site of some great concerts back in the day, including Led Zeppelin in 1977. Unfortunately, my Mom thought I was too young at the time and would not let me see Zeppelin with my older brothers. (Looking back, at 12, I was just a bit young. B) ) Well, the Summit is now a "House of the Holy" if you want to call it that, as in Lakewood Church. It's a bummer really, because it was a great concert venue, in my opinion. There was a lot of wacky weed smoked in that building, let me tell you. :D Now, it's home to an egomaniac, his snotty wife and their followers. (Sorry to any of you Osteen fans out there.)
