  1. Sounds great, Footsteps! I love Dropkick Murphys!
  2. Thanks, ninelives! There is so much snow piled up around here that I don't know where they are going to put the snow that they remove from the roads after we get this next big snowfall tomorrow and Wednesday. It will indeed be difficult trecking around in it.
  3. This morning, it was clear and crisp out, about 9 degrees Farenheit, and the snow glistened like diamonds. It was beautiful! Very serene. It made me glad to be alive to experience this beauty of nature, even though I am getting sick of the snow and cold. I had to take a photo of the trees around our house.
  4. While waiting for Saturday Night Live and Them Crooked Vultures, I am watching a documentary on VH1 Classic called Behind The Music Remastered about Metallica. I just about wet my pants when Ross Halfin came on the screen, talking about Metallica's drinking and saying that Metallica was "not a drug band, getting high like most American bands, but they liked to drink". Then they showed a photo of James Hetfield licking Ross' head. Edited to say that Ross has several scenes in this documentary! Edited again to say that they showed clips of the RRHOF Induction ceremony from last year and Metallica's Master of Puppets performance, which was great! And the final scene showed James doing his Cowardly Lion impersonation. Hilarious!
  5. Hi Mandy, I have been wondering when I could post my photo of Thomas The Train. Thanks for the opportunity. He was in the train station at Llangollen, Wales when we visited there this past summer!
  6. I am watching the Rose Bowl Parade, aka The Tournament of Roses Parade. I attended the parade in 1985, when Ohio State played USC in the Rose Bowl game. My husband and I were students at the time and we attended with the OSU student tour. We were a little older than the average college student since we were in medical school, and we were a bit more mature than the crowd we were with. What a miserable experience! First off, everyone stayed up the night before celebrating New Year's Eve. We had to leave our hotel by bus at 6 AM to be transported to the parade, as the parade starts at 8 AM. So we had no sleep at all. Most people were still drunk from the night before, or had severe hangovers. It was cold, and the bus did not have any heat. When we got to the parade route, we had reserved seats at the top of the stands that lined the streets. We were so far away, we couldn't see a thing. There was alot of air pollution and smog, so it was difficult to breathe. And the people who lined the streets for days before the parade so that they could have a good view, just went behind the stands to use the bathroom! So there was a heavy smell of urine in the air. It was nauseating, mixed with the smell of the smog, and then combine that with being drunk or hung over, it was very gross! So you see the beautiful floats and flowers on TV, and you think that it would be wonderful to see (and smell the flowers) in person, but think again! It was anything but that. So don't waste your time and money going to see it, in my opinion. Just watch it on TV.
  7. Hi Charles! Got mine in the mail last week, too. Happy Holidays to you!
  8. Same here, no photo. Edited to say: There is a jpg photo in the "JP - Mojo Upcoming Cover Story" thread. It looks great! Can't wait to read it! Thanks Sam! Looks like the problem is fixed! Thanks, again!
  9. Wow, I bet that was a great concert! Eric Clapton, unplugged!
  10. Hi Charles, I got a similar e-mail on December 18th about the Eric Clapton/Jeff Beck concert at MSG on February 19th, 2010. I have not received my tickets yet. Hope that they don't get lost in the holiday mail. You will love seing Eric. He was in top form this summer with Steve Winwood. It was the best concert that I have ever attended. I am so happy that you are going! Have a great time!
  11. Winter Solstice 2009 I am bumping this thread for the 2009 Winter Solstice. It seems like the sun did not cooperate at Newgrange, Ireland, again this year. http://www.newgrange...solstice_09.htm A little late, but Happy Winter Solstice to all! Days will begin to lengthen now, something to look forward to! http://dscriber.com/home/836-winter-solstice-2009-from-stonehenge-to-modernity.html And the winter solstice at Stonehenge, England.
  12. has not set their status

  13. I managed to get tickets to see Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck at MSG in February!
  14. Today we decorated the house and tree for Christmas, and it is a relief to have that chore over with. I have alot of my Christmas shopping done. Only a few more gifts to purchase. I will probably order them on-line, so I need to do it soon. Now, just the wrapping to do, and then I will be ready to sit back and enjoy the season.
  15. My sons saw Megadeth last week at the LC Pavillion in Columbus. They said it was a great show. The youngest one, who went with me to see Them Crooked Vultures at the same venue, said that he thought that TCV was the better show. The older one saw Megadeth a couple years ago, and said that he preferred the earlier show to the current one. They both agreed that overall, they really enjoyed last week's show, and Dave Mustaine is in top form. Have a good time, Roxie!
  16. Hi Virginia, Glad that you are feeling better. I know what it's like. I was ill last weekend and missed work on Monday. I had a migraine and a severe cold and stomach flu, all at once. I didn't even get dressed for three days. It took until yesterday for me to feel back to normal.
  17. I am doing great tonight. There has always been the debate about who William Shakespeare really was and if he was the author of the plays, or was it someone else, such as Ben Jonson. http://www.luminariu...nson/benbio.htm I visited a castle in Ireland last year, between Galway and The Burren, that looked alot like your party castle, lol. It was Dunguaire Castle. Here is a picture of it:
  18. Hey BIGDAN! How are you this evening? I regret not going to the Globe Theatre when I was in London in August. I wanted to see "As You Like It", my favorite Shakespeare play. But the only opportunity to see that play was on the Friday afternoon that we arrived in England and we were too jet-lagged to rush to see it at 2PM. I did get a glimpse of the Globe from our cruise on the River Thames the following night. And we did not see any plays when we visited Stratford-Upon-Avon, although we did visit "The Bard's" birthplace there. Rock on Forever BUCK'EYE' DOC
  19. Same here, Eternal Light. I pray for a quick recovery for your father. And good luck today, Charles. I hope that the hearing is in your (and your son's) favor. What made me happy today? I have the morning off (I have to work until late tonight, though). And while watching VH1 Classic this morning, some of my favorite tunes have been played: Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi, The Ocean by our guys, I Can't Stand Losing You by the Police, The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. These put me in a great mood!!!!!
  20. I love that show! Our family did a day long "Amazing Race" in Victoria, B.C. a couple of years ago. We came in LAST! We were given faulty directions by area residents on two occassions, and were sent in the the totally opposite direction that we needed to go. Some of the detours and road blocks were somewhat difficult, too. I was so tired afterward that I could barely walk. My sons blamed me for losing because I was the slowest one, however, I did manage to complete several of the tasks that they would have had no idea how to do if I wasn't there. I just wasn't as fast as they were. And they would just take off without a clue as to where they were going, causing us to lose time. That made me somewhat perturbed, that they didn't take the time to look at a map before taking off. But we did have fun, and I realize that I could never do some of the things that they do on tv and that the race is not easy at all. I am watching football: University of Cincinnati vs. West Virginia. The score is currently UC 21 to WV 14. Go Bearcats! If Ohio State had UC's offense and their (Ohio State's) defense, they would be unbeatable.
  21. I bet it was delicious, Virginia! I have given up on baking. I burn everything! I won't even make Christmas cookies anymore as they are always burnt. I don't have the patience to keep a watch on the oven. My oven must be a little hotter that what the settings read, and if I set the timer for the recommended baking time, then everything is toast. So I just buy my baked goods from a bakery.
  22. Hi everyone! I love ALL of your drawings. They are very special! You all are so talented! Keep them coming! Maybe someday they can all be put into a book!
  23. Hi SuperDave, I am glad that you had the opportunity to see this show! Sounds like it was a great show! I really wanted to go to this show, but I didn't have an American Express card, and by the time the AXP pre-sale was over, there weren't any reasonably priced tickets to be had, and I couldn't see spending thousands of dollars to see this show, as I had already seen Metallica (twice this year) and Eric Clapton (who was replaced by Jeff Beck). From your review and others that I have read, it sounds like Jeff Beck's performance was great! I would love to see him and Eric Clapton in London in February. I hope that their show will go on, and that Eric will be up for the task, and then take the show to America next summer! Thanks for the review!
  24. Hi Tangerine, Thank you, you answered my question about ketamine still being used in the US hospitals and not just in veterinary medicine. My boys, too, had pajama parties in pre-school and kindergarten. They would wear their pj's with feet in them to school, along with robes and slippers. They would have popcorn and watch movies all day. I miss those days when they were little! And the dance classes and all the outfits get really expensive, don't they? One of my opticians' daughter (who is 6) is in a competitive cheerleading group, and she says that it costs several thousand dollars a year for the classes, outfits, and competition fees. We had a patient in last week who's family is on welfare, but who's daughter is in this cheerleading group. My optician was amazed that the family had the money to spend on this while being on welfare, as it is so costly. Doesn't make any sense to me.
