Ok- Time for a break :fan:

  2. This one's a bit long, so bear with me... :coffee:

I have to do a report on someone in the Civil War, and while looking through a book of soldiers, generals, etc. I found men named William Edwin Baldwin and Milledge Luke Bonham. So I get a Worid Book and start looking for either of them. While looking for "Bonham", I find an entry that says "Bonhomme Richard". I know that "Bonhomme" isn't spelled the same, but beside it said "See Jones, John Paul". Flipping out was an understatement as I frantically looked for the "J" World Book. :run:

Come to find out that John Paul Jones was a Naval officer in the Revolutionary War and Bonhomme Richard was his ship. Even more ironically, John Paul Jones was also his alias.

Never know what you might find while doing a history project... :P

PS- I just learned that Milledge Bonham served under Capt. James Jones.

This just keeps getting better :D

  3. "What?" Exactly, there's not a single lyric in Tom Sawyer that says "mean, mean guy".

I don't like labels either but when it comes to music (as well as other things) it's kind of a necessary evil when trying to explain how an artist sounds to someone who may have never heard them before. As for the "nerd band" thing, I can't say I've ever really thought of myself as a nerd but it definitely fits the description for some of their fans. I'm guessing it stems from the sci-fi angle of many of their lyrics. Back in the 70s some Rush fans also like to pattern their hairstyles after some of the members of the band, Neil Peart particularly.

I think I'm pretty cool for a nerd B) Na-I'm not as over-the-top as what most people consider nerds, but I did learn Elvish

And "mean mean guy" is how one of my friends sings it, the crazy... :whistling:

  4. I love Geddy's bass! (Meaning how he plays) One of the most epic bands out there - ever. (2112-hello! pure genious!) They just have such a uniqe sound.

    Always have loved the guys!

    "Today's Tom Sawyer - he's a mean, mean guy..."

    "What?"

And how do you get labeled as a "nerd band" anyways?

    I hate labels

  5. How's it going "Cletus" and "Dzldoc?" One thing that always fascinated me about THE BEATLES' appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show is that 73 million viewers were glued to the one hour show on TV that night which made it, at that time, the most watched event in television history. Also, during that one hour show, NOT ONE CRIME WAS COMMITTED IN NEW YORK CITY. Were THE BEATLES popular or what? ROCK ON!

"All you need is Love....." :hippy:

    Guess it's true...

  6. I answered the phone one day & the person on the other end said "Hello, this is Jimmy Page..."

Of course I'm flipping out - until I figured out that he is the nephew of the lady we rent our house from. So now I tell all my friends that Jimmy Page was at my house & I'm not lying :D

I saw that Adam Sandler movie "Bedtime Stories" last night. If you've seen trailors, you know that whatever the kids say comes true. At one point, his nephew is talking about a magic cave & Adam Sandler says "And Led Zeppelin was there! Please say Led Zeppelin!"

My favorite part of the movie :D
