Here's a review of the show pictured above.......it's pretty good.... click on it and magnify.... you'll see that the sound level reached 125db....and someone was talking the other day that loud nowadays is 100db.....HA !! Shows used to be SO MUCH LOUDER back then !! They're just too safe now... My seats were on the first row of the side mezzanine about 60 feet from the stage... Cost....$6.75 !!! Same seat now would fetch $350-$450.....

Was that by chance in the film "Cocksucker Blues" ?

With Mick Taylor...they were absolutely the best live version of the Stones without a doubt. As far as studio output, I like the early Stones with Brian Jones as much as the Taylor era....but in a different way...more of a pop-rock band...than the rocknroll machine of '69-'74. That really is cool zoso13zeppelin !!! You have such great posture and form in your attack ! I'm listening to a 'chamber' quartet live as I type....not the usual one by any means...this is a cellist, xylophonist, flutist, and pedal steel player....they just did a Zappa ditty !! wow ! You'd surely appreciate it....love to hear your stuff...post a link !

I'm at the Edgehill Cafe and presently there's a quartet made up of a xylophone, clarinet/flute, cello and pedal steel guitarist doing chamber music ! I was surprised on several fronts. First of all, I thought the place was closing at 7p but this is a special event...coincidence that I'm here...plus as the xylophonist was walking in....I recognized him as being the drummer to one of Nashville's finest alltime homespun bands. THE NERVE. They were together here in the mid to later 80s and I used to go see them all the time...so we spoke a bit....He also informed me one of the guitarists for THE NERVE, Danny Rhodes, is ill with cancer... , but his prognosis is hopeful. Danny was who I knew best in the band and haven't seen him since 1995. I used to stay with him on my visits here back then...so bad news...and good that I get to hear this music....it's excellent. These guys are GREAT !! Totally professional and well tuned...seasoned as well.... Right now they're doing a 'chamber' version of.....uhh...something off Pet Sounds...it's on the tip of my tongue.... Oh well I'll stop...these posts are so hurriedly looked over...it'll just get buried as I'm talking to myself ...probably. But it was fun typing it....

Hard to tell if you're serious about the 'crap' part..but.... I guess you don't care much for Alison Krause and respect the fact that a bunch of Nashville Cats played on their collaborative cd. There are incredible musician's here putting out some damn fine music....whether it's country or not. One of the guitarists with Alison and Robert is Buddy Miller...he's a guitarist's guitarist....rather unsung...and his own material is EXCELLENT. But maybe you were just kidding because surely you know alot of the old great NY and LA musician's have moved here and still put out their music...from here. Oh and Jack White lives here...but we all know the White Stripes are shit too..

When it gets a bit quiet...with just his vocals at one point....'his sister will'.... you can hear his amp noise some, an electronic buzzing ...but otherwise..it sounds fine... * the date is 5-24-69 btw, in case you look for it in bootleg form.

I've got it and am checking it now....I also have the bootleg of that show and it's excellent soundboard...but I'm checking the legit version on the boxset now...

The original doesn't have Machine Gun or Stone Free, or the alt. version of Johnny B. Goode. Originally the songs Voodoo Child and Little Wing were attributed to the San Diego Sports Arena where Red House is from. These were actually recorded at the Royal Albert Hall but couldn't be mentioned on the original album because of legal technicalities... You can see below where each of the songs from the original release were recorded and what releases they are on NOW...so you can reconstruct In The West..from these sources if you like... Hendrix in the West was re-issued on CD in Germany and in Japan, but it is now deleted from the catalogue, and copies are very rare. Five of the eight tracks from the album were included on The Jimi Hendrix Experience Box Set, released in 2000. The tracks included were "Johnny B. Goode", "Blue Suede Shoes", "Little Wing", "Red House", and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)". "The Queen" and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" were included on Blue Wild Angel: Live at the Isle of Wight, released in 2002. For transportability....remote listening...nothing wrong with listening that way.... And see...you do the RIGHT THING...you rip from your CD's ! So you have that for the home....please don't support the mp3 industry 'standard' though by buying your music at that bitrate..... In the 'old' days....we'd make cassettes for the car or remote listening...SURE !! For convienience and we couldn't lug our records everywhere....but we recorded them from VINYL ... bought, borrowed, begged or stolen !! But we had the original full sounding source..and supported THAT industry.... Some just don't care though...that's the rub.....

Was given this today to bring home and burn....it's excellent !
