  1. Finally tracked down the famous "Hot Dog" Audrey Hamilton today. I always wanted to hear her story. I started researching and was finally able to track her down, still living in Texas. I sent her an e-mail and really did not expect to hear back from her. Today, as soon as I arrived at band practice, my cell rings....... (band practice was delayed) It was Audrey.

She was more than happy to answer my questions, and really made me feel at ease. Audrey told me she was 20 years young when she met one of the band's roadies at a Dallas nightclub. She told me that the band (or at least) Robert was in Dallas weeks before the tour kicked off. Audrey had met a roadie at a Dallas blues bar, who would invite Audrey to meet the band at their hotel. When she met Robert at the hotel, the two hit it off immediately. She was invited to “go on the road” by Robert.

The Blues bar was probably Mother Blues, that was in the Oak Lawn section of Dallas.

Whenthe '77 tour got postponed at the last minute, due to Robert catching something (in New Orleans ???), the opening date was Ft.Worth. I believe the roadies hung around for a month in Dallas, rather than go back to Europe.

I ran into Jimmy's guiatr roadie (Ray) at Mother Blues. But he sais Jimmy was still in England, and had asked him if "he should bring his Bermuda shorts"... (The first date of the rescheduled tour being Aptil 1, 1977 in Dallas).

  2. I picked the single CD of "Come With Me" for .80¢ at Half Price Books.

I like the second track best, the "Radio Version II" at 4:48.

The first track is the "Extended Radio Edit" at 6:08.

The CD credits Jimmy Page and Tom Morello on Guitars

    Bass: Tom Morello

    Drums: Mario Winas

Published by Flames of Albion Music Inc.

I'm not in love with the whole Puff Daddy (Sean Combs) track, have you, but, I do appreciate the forcefulness of the "Kashmir" guitar riff.

That hearkens back to Led Zeppelin's treatment of "Kashmir", and what I remember from their live performances in 1977.

Just a balls to wall sound, with the guitar riff, over the top of it..... :)

BTY, the CD single Catalog Number is 34K 78954 on the Sony Label ©1998.

The UPC Code of the single is 0 9870-78954-2 5.

  3. I'm on the go today so no time for indepth post, but if you're looking for a great, adult movie to see this weekend, you can't go wrong with "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy"!

I saw "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" last night and it is a crackerjack of a film. Don't be put off by those who say it is confusing...only those who have never read an honest book or are half-wits would have trouble following the plot.

Gary Oldman, John Hurt, Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Tom Hardy...anybody that knows their movies should be salivating at the thought of seeing all these actors in the same film.

GO SEE IT! A perfect film to take your honey out to on a Friday or Saturday night. Or if you have family in town for the holidays, take your dad or an uncle who loves spy stories.

Strider, thanks for the heads up about this movie. I wanted to go see it on just the title alone, and, that Gary Oldman stars in it. The title, of course, reminds me of the Page/McCarty Yardbirds song "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor" (from Little Games).

I'd like to find some time go and see it, as I won't be going to see any Matt Damon, Daniel Craig, or Leonardo DiCaprio films anytime soon... :)

  4. Gary Oldman does pick the greatest roles

    Count Dracula

    Dr Smith

    Sid Vicious

    Lee Harvey Oswald

just to name a few .... ok 4 and Jimmy Page . . . . that could have been incredible

For great Gary Oldman roles, I would add:

Rogue DEA Agent Norman Stansfield :)

    Drexl Spivey from True Romance

  5. I know that this has been posted before. If you could produce make a movie about LZ who would play the boys, and what story would you do for them.

I would get unknowns. If I had to use stars. I would have Jude Law play Robert Plant. Gorden Levert as Jimmy Page. Christian Bale as Bonzo. JPJ I don't know.

I would start off with Page and then move to Plant then Bonzo and then JPJ. Each chapter would be about their albums. I would have the story be about how thier lives were effect by each release. I would not really get into drugs and cheating on their wives. There would be a lot of live music numbers. I would end it at Bonham's death.

Robert Plant would be brash but loveable. Same with Bonzo. Page would be wise and mysterious. JPJ would be similar as well.

I would show a lot of their music playing prowess. It would not be like the Doors. I even think that someone like Chris Nolan from The Dark Knight would film it. The songs would be more cool lots of footage of the band playing more of the PG material.

I would like to see a movie about LZ in my lifetime.

    James Gandolfini . . . . . as Peter Grant

I saw him in a movie the other day. It was "Surviving Christmas".

After seeing his part in the movie, I think that James would be the perfect actor to play Peter Grant in a film about Led Zeppelin, don't you ? ? ?

  6. I couldn't find an actual poll for this topic, but if there is one let me know. I listed most of my favorites and an "other" selection. Please specify if you pick "other". My favorite is Kashmir because I think it defines the word epic.

From seeing LZ live, yes "Kashmir" would be the favorite live riff.

On record, initially "HB" was my #1 followed by "WLL" in second place.

But after lo these many years, my User Name says it all... "The Rover" is my #1 riff on record. My #2 riff is the title track from "TSRTS".

And #3 is from the break in "For Your Life".

So, poo on you cheesehead1204, for being so close with "Custard Pie", but missing "The Rover" as a poll selection.....

You really appreciate "Custard Pie" enough to leave off "The Rover" ? ? ?

Anyway, it's not that bid deal to me cheesehead1204... I've said all I care to about this already :)
