That sample of Woodstock was from the 5/24/75 show, not 3/24/75 (just wanted to clarify that because a similar question came up yesterday.) I've done very preliminary work on 5/24/75 (basically remixed it to stereo, but that takes little time. The work and majority of time is in remastering it.) The next show I'm planning to release is 9/28/71, which is 99.5% done. After that, my goal is to work on 6/7/77, although that may change depending on how it goes.

My mistake. I knew it was an Earl's Court show but accidentally pressed 3 instead of 5. In regards to 06/07/1977, I have a copy of that show you remastered; does this mean you're redoing it in stereo?

Thanks. I use two main programs. One splits the songs into individual instruments so I can remix them into stereo and the other I use to remaster the sound of the songs after they're remixed. In the latter program I use about a dozen separate VST plugins, which are essentially mini programs that each modify different aspects of the sound.

Here's the Woodstock section of Dazed from the May 24 1975 show. I did this quickly and the final version would hopefully sound a lot better, but this will give you an idea of what the process above can do.

Cool! So you're working on the 03/24/1975 show. Looking forward to it!

I worked on it a long time ago. I'll take a listen to it to see if it's any good. It was before I was able to remix shows into stereo, so it will need some fixing up even if it sounds decent. For now, the 3/21/75 show is the next one I'm doing from '75. I spent some time on it today and it's going pretty well.

Okay. I hope either you or someone remasters it in the future.

if it’s not any trouble, could you PM me the link to the 09/29/1971 show? Thanks in advance!

I'm still figuring out what to work on next. Current candidates are 5/26/73, 7/28/73, 3/21/75, and 4/27/77. What I normally do is make some trial runs on each one and then keep going on whichever one is working out best.

You'll notice there are no 1980 shows in that list. I've tried to remaster multiple shows from that tour and I can't make them sound any better, no matter what I do. They don't respond to the things that work for the other tours, so I'm not sure I'll ever get one to the point where I'd consider it worthy of release.

Would love to see you remaster 03/04/1975 just because I don't think anyone has remastered that show yet.

The "soundboards" from the Earls Court shows are actually video soundtracks, so they were recorded on a different machine than the soundboards from the '75 US tour. I haven't listened to the Earl's Court recordings recently, but being soundtracks they may also include effects (reverb, etc.) that don't appear on soundboards. Also, more generally, we don't know the path each recording took before it was released. One could have been copied from tape to tape multiple times before we got to hear it, and another could be much closer to the master. That's my guess as to why the '77 soundboards all sound so different, even for shows that were played on consecutive nights.

Makes sense. Lots of reverb and it just sounds muddier to me. I believe these were multi-tracked shows (24th and 25th) so hopefully we will see an official release some day.
