  1. Thanks for the PM, ~tangerine~. I sent you a reply. As far as the endocrinologist, I'll wait and see what the results of my blood test are and see what my doc says.
  2. Thanks, slave to zep! I'm sorry to hear that you had thyroid cancer. I hope all is well with you now. And you're right, one pill a day is a little price to pay for feeling better.
  3. Brainwashed - George Harrison's swan song Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. I did listen to Marwa Blues, and I thought it was one of the best instrumentals I'd ever heard. Very beautiful and peaceful.
  4. Me too! I always wondered what he looked like. Thanks for posting it Knebby!
  5. Thanks for the advice, slave to zep! I get my blood tested in about a month, so I'll know if I'm taking the right amount of medicine. My doc said it takes about three months for the thyroid to get back to normal. I read on WebMD that some people have to take medicine the rest of their lives. I hope I don't have to do that, but if it will help my fatigue I'll try anything!
  6. Yep. In my family, breast cancer runs on my mom's side of the family. My aunt died from it when she was 39, and my other aunt was diagnosed when she was 42 (thankfully she's still here). My grandma also had it about ten years ago (and thankfully she's still here too). But I'm afraid for my mom and myself. If we don't get it, it will be a miracle! I'm still pretty young (23) but I worry for my mom, my aunt, and my grandma. As far as myself, I've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. And I've struggled with anemia also. Does anyone have any tips for dealing with hypothyroidism? Any info would be greatly appreciated! I've researched it a little already. It makes you really fatigued. (No wonder I've been sleeping so much lately!! ) Great thread, by the way!
  7. We were completely washed out here in Louisville yesterday. 6 inches of rain fell in 1 hour and 15 min!!! We broke a bunch of records! They had to evacuate 30 horses from Churchill Downs, and UofL was completely underwater. The library also lost thousands of books and lots of computers and equipment. Fortunately the sun is shining today!
  8. I watched "The Dunwich Horror" (1970) the other night. It was unintentionally funny, but I really enjoyed it. In the beginning, when the main character guy said "I'm a student of the occult," it reminded me of Jimmy.
  9. Yeah, it does move pretty quickly - I'm almost done with The Fellowship of the Ring. So far, I'm really enjoying it! I also noticed that the movie follows pretty closely with the book - except I wish that they would have included Tom Bombadil in the movie. He seems like an interesting character!
  10. the entire Neon Bible album by Arcade Fire I love Arcade Fire!
  11. That is really cool! I love old books also. On Saturdays, my local public library has a book sale, and I recently bought a Daphne du Maurier book that was printed in 1958! I know it's not really THAT old but I was excited about it because it still had a subscription for Time magazine in the middle of the book!! By the way, The Picture of Dorian Gray is one of my favorite books. The movie from 1945 kind of freaks me out (it has a creepy atmosphere to it), but it's well worth watching. Getting back to the topic: I finally got around to starting Lord of the Rings, which I've been wanting to read for a long time now. (But it might take me a long time to finish it since it's 1038 pages! )
  12. "Alpha" by Vangelis- from Albedo 0.39 (1976) - and an excerpt of it is also on the Cosmos Soundtrack If you like synth stuff from the `70s you really need to check it out. youtube link
  13. Thanks, Spacewoman! That's what I was thinking.
  14. Wow. Jimmy's killer stare. I would have a heart attack if he looked at me like that!! (No chance of that happening! ) P.S. - anyone know when was this taken?
  15. Too difficult to pick just one!! His falsetto at the end of No Quarter is truly magnificent! He just sort of glides into it, and it sounds really natural. Battle of Evermore is exceptional - it gives me goosebumps. I also love when he screams at the end of I'm Gonna Crawl - I don't know why, but it always makes me laugh!
  16. WOW. Thanks, spacewoman!! I think I feel another Jimmy-induced fainting spell coming on!! As far as the wizard discussion goes, I usually think of either Jimmy or Dumbledore when I think of wizards. Gandalf is pretty cool, too.
  17. Thanks for this one, aen27! This is one of my favorites!! It's the ultimate "dog collar" pic!! And the expression on his face is just.................... well, I can't describe it.
  18. I was watching the coverage of the Preakness race today on NBC. Right before the race started they showed this clip about all the different horses that were going to run, and in the clip they played an orchestral version of Kashmir! I had the volume on really low and I thought I heard something that sounded like Kashmir; then I turned up the volume and couldn't believe my ears!
  19. ZIPPERS?!! Well, I can see I won't be getting any sleep!! Another night of Jimmy-induced insomnia!
  20. OH, WOW... I've just been staring at the computer screen for the last 5 minutes!! This picture has left me completely mesmorized and hypnotized!! Seriously, I'm completely speechless! I won't be able to do anything else tonight except think naughty thoughts! P.S. - Is it wrong to totally adore someone 3X your age? (Okay, technically, it's like 2.9X - yes, I did the math! )
  21. OMG! The "dog collar" and a scarf in one post! *faints* Why is it that Jimmy's necklaces/scarves/"dog collars" always makes me ?
  22. I voted for "other" because I think Battle of Evermore's lyrics are the best. STH and Kashmir are my second and third choices.
  23. I've never had one either, but my mom has. She said it was really disgusting!!
