  1. Child of the Wild Blue Yonder-John Hiatt
  2. Just so people don't think you're crazy, Mighty Zep, I recently spent a LONG time going through the "hot pictures of Robert" (there are over 100 pages!) section on this forum, and there are some photos where his eyes look brown, so I was wondering about the colored contacts too! I do assume his eyes are blue or hazel because in the vast majority of pics I've seen they look that way. As for those of you who've gazed into his eyes in person, I'm turning GREEN.
  3. That's the first time I've ever seen a picture of his beloved Stryder-THANKS!
  4. It's adorable of Robert. Then again, he usually is.
  5. Robert blew on the trumpet or Phil? Was it the Hindemith concerto, or the Hummel (jk)? I'm interested since once upon a time I played the trumpet- I thought I might have something in common with Percy! Unfortunately in most respects I'm the opposite of Plant. In the Neil Daniels book they mention Robert's dad played in a brass band-I wish they'd said what instrument he played! On the subject of brass bands, there's a good movie (based on the Grimethorpe Colliery Band) called Brassed Off. With Ewan McGregor, Pete Postlewaite and another guy (who I thought stole the show), Stephen Tompkinson. There I go, off on a tangent again!
  6. Oh-sorry. Page 3 of this thread, post #60 (And p.4, #61). Thanks.
  7. Could Robert be any goddam cuter? Are you sure the next pic was Palin (michael, not sarah-ye gads!)? Didn't look like him to me.
  8. I agree with you on that last point. I'm listening to Bobby Darin at the moment, and it makes me so sad to think of all the great music he would have made if he'd lived past 37.
  9. Simple Song of Freedom-by Bobby Darin (on the Songs From Big Sur CD) Come and sing a simple song of freedom Sing it like you've never sung before Let it fill the air Tell the people everywhere We, the people here, don't want a war. Hey, there, mister black man, can you hear me? I don't want your diamonds or your game I just wanna be someone known to you as me I will bet my life you want the same. Come and sing a simple song of freedom Sing it like you've never sung before Let it fill the air Tell the people everywhere We, the people here, don't want a war. Seven hundred million are ya list'nin'? Most of what you read is made of lies But, speakin' one to one ain't it everybody's sun To wake to in the mornin' when we rise? Come and sing a simple song of freedom Sing it like you've never sung before Let it fill the air Tell the people everywhere We, the people here, don't want a war. Brother Solzhenitsyn, are you busy? If not, won't you drop this friend a line Tell me if the man who is plowin' up your land Has got the war machine upon his mind? Come and sing a simple song of freedom Sing it like you've never sung before Let it fill the air Tell the people everywhere We, the people here, don't want a war. Now, no doubt some folks enjoy doin' battle Like presidents, prime ministers and kings So, let's all build them shelves Where they can fight among themselves Leave the people be who love to sing. Come and sing a simple song of freedom Sing it like you've never sung before Let it fill the air Tell the people everywhere We, the people here, don't want a war.
  10. I'm in Minnesota. I don't like hot weather, so for me this summer has been HEAVENLY! I don't remember ever having a summer this nice/cool. I hope it's not from Global Warming, because I LOVE IT. I remembered winter will eventually come back the other day, and got temporarily grouchy. The only thing is we do need more rain.
  11. The Times They Are A Changin'-Dylan (& Keb Mo-awesome cd, by the way-"Peace...Back By Popular Demand")
  12. Heaven Knows-Robert Plant
  13. In the Plant book they do mention that there are some recordings (demos & live) floating around from before Zep-Band of Joy & maybe others-but they are probably bootlegs. If someone could clean them up and Robert (& the other musicians) would ok a release, it would be fun to hear! If he doesn't want to do another Honeydrippers album, or work with Sonny, that's fine. They are just things I'd be interested in, as a fan of Robert's! Maybe he hasn't worked with Sonny because it hasn't occurred to him to do it. That's part of the reason I mention it, in case somehow the idea would find its way to Robert (Sonny himself said he liked how I was thinking!) and he becomes interested. Very few people I've talked to know who Sonny is (or even Hiatt, believe it or not). Granted, Robert follows all kinds of music and has encyclopedic knowledge, but even he can't know EVERYONE. There could be several reasons they haven't worked together, besides Robert not being interested. Such as both of them are always working on some project, or on tour, so they'd have to clear time for it and be available at the same time, and there would be travel involved for at least one of them (Sonny's based in Louisiana). At any rate, I don't see the harm in mentioning it, even more than once. If you have an idea that you'd like to see any members of Zep working on, I'd be interested in hearing about it. We're all here because we love Zep & we love music
  14. I hate to say it here but I like Darin's Carpenter better-maybe because it's in a lower key. (I originally added a paragraph about Darin-I just moved it to a new topic, in the other musicians section.)
  15. ME TOO! Colors of a Shade would be in my top 10-that octave when he sings "It's only lo-OVE"-incredible! But one of my favorite things about Robert's singing is his LOWER range-which you hear a lot of on all the songs you picked-you must like it too:)
  16. By the way, if I had to choose between these songs & Zep songs, I'd choose these. My 2nd choice as a group would be songs from the P&P recordings, then Zep 3rd. I definitely think Robert's material gets better and better, though I'm not a fan of Plant/Krauss. I want to hear Robert as sole singer again: PLEASE ROBERT! Then come to Minnesota, so I can hear you live for the first time! (SONNY LANDRETH SONNY LANDRETH SONNY LANDRETH SONNY LANDRETH....) Yeah, I know he's not gonna see this-damn! P.S. Robert: If you come to MN, visit Homestead Pickin' Parlor & Electric Fetus.
  17. I LOVE Moonlight in Samosa (those descending triads are amazing-he makes it sound so easy) Someeone else had Young Boy Blues on their list-that is definitely my favorite track on the Honeydrippers cd. Maybe we should change this to top 10 songs-5 is too hard! I agree with Ahmet a 2nd Honeydrippers cd would be great, this time a longer album, because even the Nine Lives version is too short. And/or make a Priory of Brion cd available. I'd also love to get a cd from Robert's pre-Zep days. I know there were a couple tracks on 66 to Timbuktu, but I'd like a whole album. I'd prefer not to buy any bootlegs.
  18. Oh geez, only 5? That is SO hard! Not nec. in order: 1. Song to the Siren 2. Darkness Darkness 3. All the King's Horses 4. Ship of Fools 5. tie between Come Into My Life & I Believe Oh my goodness: just thinking about those 6 songs makes me lightheaded. I think I'll listen to one of them now as I go to bed...probably Siren, Horses, or Ship of Fools, as they stay fairly mellow throughout. Happy sigh.
  19. Funny What Love Can Do-Bobby Darin
  20. I love these! I love it when Robert wears blue, and not just because it's my favorite color-he looks so awesome in it!
  21. I think I just found my favorite thread
  22. I disagree! I love those pics! They are so cute! And if that's fat, wow! (I prefer Robert w/o facial hair but of course he should be how he's most happy.)
  23. Thanks for these screenshots from I Believe. Every time I watch it I get tears in my eyes ("...tears from your Mother from the pits of her soul, look at your Father see his blood run cold..."). So sad their marriage didn't survive that. I guess all the couples I can think of that lost a child eventually divorced.
