  1. Okay, saw your link Ronniedawg. Hey, I didn't know that that was Babbitt in "Innercity Blues"! Wow. Always loved that song! (Makes me wanna holler, throw up both my hands.)
  2. Hey, thanks, Ronniedawg! Bob Babbitt took Jamerson's place in the Funk Brothers' illustrious lineup! He seems to be an unassuming guy who knew that these were big shoes to fill. But, he surely came into his own though! Holy moly. Didn't view your link yet, but will do now...(I have a feeling it's also in the DVD Standing In The Shadows Of Motown). Osborne was in that DVD as well. I'll view it now, brb...
  3. This Is Jimmy Rodgers - Texas Jimmy Rodgers
  4. Awe-inspiring. Yet another testament to his virtuosic gift. And yes, Blackdog, maybe this under appreciation will change once more people view it LIVE on the No Quarter DVD. It's really great fun to watch, as they move into the waltz-y movement...the cymbals crashing, etc. Very rhapsodic, to me. Can't help but move your head back n forth, in your element.
  5. I Don't Like You - Beatles
  6. Yes. Nice scenes between those two. (Gary & Patricia)
  7. Just Another Manic Monday - The Bangles
  8. K, will do...thanks, Misty! Love dunes, boardwalks & lighthouses! Hey, if ya ever come to my neck of the woods, come see Coney Island before it's gone! It's an old-fashioned amusement park with fun, fun rides! The Cyclone rollercoaster is still operative. But, I'm sure you know all about good ol' Coney Island. Anyways, I've lived here in Brooklyn all my life, so I'm not the most objective person when it comes to Coney (where "we'll eat baloney") sorry, Gene Kelly fans.
  9. Thanks, ninelives. Did you see Neal in an old, old movie (of course! haha) The Fountainhead? with Gary Cooper?
  10. God bless them. They made the supreme sacrifice. May they rest in peace.
  11. Hi, ninelives! Judy, once again turns my head upside down! Pure poetry. Yes! Do you love her cover of "Michael From Mountains"? Joni did it in her debut album, Song To A Seagull. Sometimes, (depends on my mood) that's my favorite Joni album. On Wildflowers, Judy is phemonenal--her arranger (Joshua Rifkin, I think) did a terrific job in complementing her voice. (lots of violas and cellos) Plus, she's a great songwriter in her OWN right, of course--think of "Sky Fell", "Since You Asked" and "Albatross". "Albatross" was on the soundtrack in an old movie--late 60s starring Patricia Neal (sorry can't recall what film). Do you know it? I tried googling it. Sorry, to no avail.
  12. Roots Of A Legend [CD] - [re:] Bob Marley
  13. Hey, excellent! Must hear it one day. I do like Osborne. Was Jamerson the bass player in that version, too? Cuz he was the bassist in the Jimmy Ruffin version.
  14. "Factory Girl" was quite good, yes. Also some pathos there, re: Sedgwick's childhood. Oh! The actress' name is Sienna Miller. "Ciao Manhattan", no I didn't see that. Must check it out. I'll rent it @ the DVD place near my apartment building. Thanks for telling me about it. did this movie involve Bob Dylan? Houses Of The Holy - We All Know Who Think I shall retire now... Good night!
  15. Hi, Patrycja! I'm gonna send you to do some more digging. There's a rather lovely, evocative song by Cohen on Judy's Wildflowers album called "Priests". Do you recall it? It so unique because it has minimal triangles pinging. Of course the lyrics...well, superb!
  16. It was still pretty amazing, tho'. I see you're interest in Andy Warhol. (Sorry, wrong thread, but I have to ask: did you see the movie about 2 yrs ago, called "Factory Girl"? It was about Warhol, Sedgwick & Dylan. (starred Jude Law's girlfriend, I forget her name unfortunately)... Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention (LP)
  17. XYZ - Jimmy Page, Alan White, Chris Squire & Jon Anderson
  18. Thank you ninelives Hey, I was impressed yesterday night when you and (not sure of sp) Brspled came up with a whole slew of Robert Plant tunes in "song association" Dave Clark Five's Greatest Hits, The
  19. Ha ha ha! Good one, Misty! Yeah, this summer, the husband wants to stay in Montauk for a few. Loves the open ocean. My daughter & I prefer the bay. heh heh chickens. We also like good ol' Seaside Heights in Jerz. We stayed "Down in Seaside" last summer. Very beautiful. Hey, you should come to Brooklyn some time! Whoops, don't wanna derail the thread (no pun intended). To go to Montauk we might opt for the Long Island Railroad. But, then again, I might opt out of taking subways too far. Might be too scared: I plan to see The Taking of Pelham 1 2 & 3, speaking of movies. Saw the original--FANTASTIC! It had Robert Shaw in it. Sooo menacing. New one looks great too, with Travolta as the villain this time.
  20. Bridge Over Troubled Waters - Simon & Garfunkel
  21. "Well, well, well, you can never tell...Ya tell me this town ain't got no hearrrt..." Zebra - Zebra
  22. Hi Misty! How's the seaside in the G'island? Anyway, hey, re: that movie you just saw, The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, too bad it's so horrible. Poor Dickens must be spinning in his grave.
