  1. Thank you for all of your kind words. It felt rude not to respond with my gratitude in some way. She was a hell of a woman, and she fought hard, right up to the end, but she was just so tired, and her body was so worn out. My dad is dealing with it pretty well, all things considered. They were married 50 years this past January.

  2. My mother died on Thursday, so I'll be taking a break from the Internet for a while. I'm not looking forward to family showing up to tell my dad, sister, and I how sorry they are, but I can't stop them from coming. It's a good thing she didn't want a funeral because I couldn't sit through some priest droning on about life after death and heaven and all that other BS.

As a PSA, if you smoke...quit. I don't care if you think it'll be hard, fucking do it.

  3. I'm going out to lunch with my sister this afternoon. It's a rare Saturday where neither of us have any chores/errands at our respective domiciles. It won't be anything fancy, just some wings and fries, but any time spent with her is good time, so I'll take it.

  4. 50 is way too young. When I was 10, I thought 50 was ancient, but now that I'm almost 40, 50 feels like a spring chicken still. I've always loved the Foo's music and thought the guys in the band were just A #1. What a pointless, tragic loss.

  5. Calvin Ridley got suspended for a whole season for betting on NFL games, which is appropriate. However, time and time again we've seen players who've done monumentally worse get barely a slap on the wrist, and it's offensive.

Does the scooter have an American Flag painted on it and the driver wearing a black leather jacket??? That would be sweeeet.

No to the American flag, but yes to the black leather jacket. That's what makes it funny. It's this Vespa-looking thing that he thinks is the biggest, baddest hog around.

I am not sure I buy into the we are only using a certain percentage of our brain theory, as it was recently shot down some.  You are correct on the spectrum, we have a device called a spectrometer that breaks down light and in fact tells us the make up of stars.  Very much used in astronomy and physics.

So looking at the subject title, "What do You Guys Believe Exists"?  I would like to see a count, as I do not know how to set up a poll here, as to how many believe in ????

    A.  Bigfoot

    B.  Ghosts

    C.  Sea Monsters

    D.   Aliens have been here or are here

I ask that as many as possible participate.  Thanks.

And lastly, are you aware of Skinwalker Ranch?

    Bigfoot: No.

    Ghosts: No.

    Sea Monsters: No.

Aliens: No. I believe there's other life in our solar system, but life of the microbial variety, not little green moon men in spaceships. That's too science fiction to be anywhere close to reality. There's evidence of water (albeit, frozen) on moons in the outer solar system, and where there's water, there's life. I don't know what exists in other galaxies in the universe, but the odds are greater than not that there's a planet a similar distance to its star as we are from the sun, and if that's the case, there's probably our kind of life on it.

So, Green Bay pays Rodgers a boatland of money & now I'm hearing reports that Adams--the best receiver in the league--is being traded to the Raiders...

    😕

The Packers offered him more money than the Raiders did, but Adams wanted to play for his childhood team, and Derek Carr was his QB in college. Also, he's been PO'd at the front office since last season, so Rodgers' contract has nothing to do with it. It's a shame, he's a phenomenal player, and I'll miss seeing him in green and gold, but I'm curious to see how the Packers work the draft to try and plug up the massive hole they now have in the WR room.

Saturn's moon Iapetus is the strangest moon in the entire solar system. What is even stranger is why NASA and pretty much every other space agency on the planet pretty much ignores such an odd and interesting moon. According to planetary & satellite mechanics, Iapetus should not exist yet it does but NASA only had the Voyager probe (a very quick flyby) and Cassini Probe do a quick flyby on it's way out of Saturn's system. I for one think a dedicated mission should have been sent years ago.

    Strange

That's the one shaped like a walnut, right? Phil Plait hosted a series of videos on astronomy as part of PBS's Crash Course series, and one of them was on Saturn.

  10. Tom Brady's ego won't allow him to share the Hall of Fame stage, and if he stayed retired, he'd be getting in the same year as Ben Roethlisberger. He wants to be the only QB getting into the HoF the year he finally retires so that all the attention and conversation can be on him. Having seen one Hall of Fame QB pull this "I'm retiring/No, I'm not" bullshit once before (Brett Favre), I wonder how long before he decides no, I'm really retiring this time.

A pork roast for lunch?  Seriously?   It take what?  2 hours to cook at least right?  I hope you have applesauce?   I made more risotto.  Addicted to it thanks to Mr Gordon Ramsey

Yes, seriously. That seems like a ridiculous thing to lie about. Sundays are the only day of the week my whole family (four people, but still) sit down at the table and eat together, so it's a big deal. Lunches in my house Monday through Saturday are sandwiches or a bowl of soup or a TV dinner of some kind. I enjoy cooking and relish the opportunities I have to do it. It took about 3 hours, and no, we don't serve applesauce with pork. I know some people do, but it's not something I grew up eating.
